Chapter 45: Chapter 45 Give me One Hundred Thousand Dollars and I’ll Spare You (Extra Update)

Nia Mitchell rubbed her bruised arm and rose painfully to her feet.

"Are you sick or something?"

Nia felt aggrieved. Being bumped into in the bathroom was one thing, but to be scolded out of the blue like this was another.

Ever since the Hendry Hampton incident, she had made a firm resolution never to let anyone bully her again.

Victoria Perez laughed coldly, a disbelieving sneer on her face. This lowly woman who bumped into her and then had the gall to fall over actually dared to question her sanity?

"I’m asking you! Are your eyes just for decoration?"

Victoria Perez crossed her arms, looking down her nose at Nia.

"I said, are you sick?"

Nia mimicked her tone and tilted her chin up defiantly.

"To think Madgar Pavilion lets in trash like you these days. Its standards are really slipping."

Victoria Perez was draped in designer labels. While each item was high-fashion in its own right, they were combined with absolutely no skill, creating an ensemble that was simply jarring to look at.

Underneath her flamboyant makeup, Victoria Perez glared haughtily.

"Hmph, you bumped into me. You should apologize and compensate me."

Victoria Perez was a well-known figure in their social circle. Abandoned by her parents shortly after birth, she was taken in by another family. That family, however, was not only stingy but also possessed truly unpleasant characters.

She grew up in such circumstances until she was eighteen. Then, her biological family, having suddenly struck it rich, took her back. This sudden upheaval seemed to warp her personality even further.

Coming from such a humble background, she was hardly respected by the upper class and often made a fool of herself with the slightest misstep. Eventually, the name Victoria Perez itself became a laughingstock.

"Compensation?"

Nia was stunned. Could this woman be any more shameless?

"Yes. Luckily, I wasn’t badly hurt, just shaken up. So, I’ll be lenient with you—one hundred thousand USD will do."

Victoria Perez adopted a magnanimous facade, her smile offensively bright.

One hundred thousand USD is considered ’lenient’? Although Nia knew she shouldn’t let her mind wander at a time like this, she couldn’t help but feel a jolt of surprise.

So this was the world of the rich. Their concept of money was completely different from that of ordinary people like her.

"You’re the one who bumped into me."

As Nia rubbed her arm, she noticed her palm was scraped too. Wasn’t she the victim here, from start to finish?

Victoria Perez burst into laughter, sounding like a madwoman.

"I bumped into you? Are you joking? You’re the one who wasn’t watching where you were going and crashed into me."

Victoria Perez twisted the truth with shameless ease, glaring defiantly at Nia.

She had already sized Nia up from head to toe. This woman’s entire outfit screamed ’poor,’ ’tacky,’ and ’powerless’—an easy target for bullying.

Just then, the Store Manager of Madgar Pavilion happened to pass by. Victoria Perez immediately called him over.

"Store Manager, one of your customers here wasn’t watching where she was going and bumped into me! Now she refuses to compensate me and is even hurling insults. What are you going to do about this?"

The Store Manager broke into a cold sweat. The moment he spotted Victoria Perez, he’d wanted to turn and flee, but she had already seen him and called him over.

Wherever Victoria Perez went, an uproar was sure to follow, along with all sorts of trouble.

"Well..." The Store Manager was in a difficult position. Fortunately, the owner was in the shop today and should be over soon.

"Hmph. Manager, I’m a regular customer here, you know. If I spread the word about this, Madgar Pavilion can kiss its business goodbye."

Victoria Perez admired her freshly manicured nails, then shot a sidelong glance at Nia and the Store Manager, a triumphant smirk playing on her lips now that she’d delivered her threat.

The Store Manager looked at Nia with a troubled expression. "Miss, why not just apologize? It’s not a huge deal. If this gets blown out of proportion, it won’t look good for anyone, don’t you agree?"

Nia seethed. Was this Store Manager actually siding with that woman just because she looked rich, expecting her to swallow her pride and let the matter drop?
