Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 435 - 434: You’d Better Be Careful With Me
With these thoughts in mind, Maxwell Peary quickened his pace.
Sophia Moore, who was in the Secretary Department’s office, suddenly felt a chill enveloping her, causing a shiver that ran through her entire body.
What’s going on?
This sense of foreboding was disastrous. It felt as if she were a small, defenseless animal in a forest, being targeted by a giant eagle.
Frowning, Sophia turned her head to look around, only to find Maxwell Peary opening the Grand Gate to the Secretary Department.
"CEO Peary."
Sophia stood still, instantly giving Maxwell her full attention.
"Were you... yelling just now?"
Actually, he wanted to question Sophia – was it you who told Rabina to scram? If she dared to admit it, he would throw her out immediately.
Sophia stood there awkwardly, not even having the courage to look up at Maxwell.
An unfamiliar masculine presence pervaded the Secretary Department. The large room was currently occupied by only three people.
She could only hear her own breathing.
Her heartbeat pounded like thunder. Sophia stood there, incessantly guessing what Maxwell was thinking.
"CEO Peary, I lost control for a moment."
Sophia admitted, figuring that honesty was the best policy when dealing with Maxwell.
Maxwell furrowed his eyebrows, an icy aura enveloping his body. His black suit, combined with his domineering eyebrows, gave him an unspeakable severity.
"If you do not want to be the Head Secretary here anymore, you might as well fuck off."
Sophia was utterly aghast.
She had just threatened Nia Mitchell to scram.
She never expected that within just a few minutes, she would be on the receiving end of a similar directive.
Scram? This word was terrifying.
"CEO Peary, it was just a momentary lapse of control. Additionally, I was just joking with Nia, nothing malicious was intended."
Sophia immediately started to explain. Though she mentioned Nia in her explanation, she didn’t even glance at her.
"Nia, were you guys joking?"
Maxwell shifted his attention towards Nia. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
He had been observing. Ever since he arrived, Nia had not even looked at him once.
Considering what Charles Northwood had told him about what he had seen when he called Nia, his eyebrows furrowed involuntarily.
Nia did not respond immediately; instead, she looked at Sophia.
Sophia stood there, subtly looking back at Nia with a pleading expression.
"Yes, we were just joking."
Nia chuckled. Sophia’s expression just now would be enough to amuse her for days.
Hearing Nia’s words, Sophia instantly breathed a sigh of relief. However, she was fuming inside, gritting her teeth in anger.
"After all, it’s not up to Secretary Sophia to determine who stays and who scrams."
Nia conceded that her temper was indeed getting worse. Or maybe it was just because Maxwell was present, making her feel secure enough to let loose without any worries.
Maxwell nodded in agreement with Nia’s words.
"Come with me to my office."
Leaving behind these words, Maxwell was the first to head towards the CEO Office.
Seeing Maxwell leaving, Sophia’s expression changed drastically.
Nia was momentarily speechless.
Why did she feel that Sophia could put on a great dramatic performance all by herself?
"Nia, I remember this grudge. You’d better watch out."
Sophia lowered her voice, afraid of being heard by others again.
