Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 414 - 413: Maxwell Peary, I’m Jealous
「The next day.」
Early in the morning, Nia Mitchell groggily opened her eyes and rubbed them. The person beside her was already gone. She stretched and then looked at the time.
Only seven o’clock.
Why did the CEO get up so early today?
Nia Mitchell got right up, changed her clothes, washed up, and casually combed her hair a couple of times before heading downstairs.
"Uncle?"
Before she had even finished descending the staircase, Nia Mitchell’s voice traveled from the second floor to the first.
In the first-floor Living Room, Maxwell Peary, casually dressed, was sitting on the sofa opposite Silvia Waterborne.
Hearing the voice, Silvia Waterborne raised an eyebrow and looked at Maxwell Peary.
"Maxwell Peary, is she calling you?"
Uncle?
PFFT—
Why didn’t she know that her son, with his stoic face, had such... unusual tastes?
"AHEM!"
Maxwell Peary stood up, flustered, and started towards the stairs. Before he even reached the staircase, he saw Nia Mitchell coming down.
"Uncle, why are you up so early today?"
She had thought he’d gone to attend to business matters; she didn’t expect to find him downstairs.
Maxwell Peary stood in a position that perfectly blocked Nia Mitchell’s view of Silvia Waterborne in the Living Room, which was why Nia Mitchell was so casual.
"We have a guest."
Silvia Waterborne has to rush to the Film Set soon, so she came to disturb their peaceful morning. He was sound asleep, holding his wife, and she just had to ruin it.
"A guest?"
Nia Mitchell’s eyes widened. She was still in her pajamas; how could she meet a guest? And why is the CEO also dressed so casually... TSK, TSK, who on earth is this guest?
"Yes, Mom came."
Ah, he misspoke. His mother isn’t a guest; she’s family.
"Huh? Mom?!"
Nia Mitchell was stunned, unable to process this news for a moment.
Silvia Waterborne smiled, tilting her head to look at Nia Mitchell on the stairs.
"Nia Mitchell, come on down."
Silvia Waterborne beckoned with her hand.
Nia Mitchell hesitated for a moment, pouted at Maxwell Peary, then scampered back upstairs.
"I need to change and do my hair!"
AHHHHHHHHH!
So embarrassing!
Maxwell Peary watched her dash off faster than a rabbit, then smiled and turned to Silvia Waterborne.
"You scared my wife."
Silvia Waterborne rolled her eyes speechlessly. Give me a break. Do you have to be so obvious about protecting your wife?
"You scared your old mom too, you know."
Silvia Waterborne settled back onto the sofa, not taking it to heart, and glared at Maxwell Peary.
"I’m just saying, Maxwell Peary, when are you going to protect your dear old mom for a change?"
Silvia Waterborne looked wistful. How wonderful would it be to be doted on by her own son? Too bad her son had never done so.
"Do you need my protection?"
Don’t be fooled by Silvia Waterborne’s goddess-like aura; she’s not one to swallow insults just to protect her reputation. If someone offended her, she’d usually retaliate on the spot. So, he only worried about her back in the day. Later on, he stopped meddling in her affairs altogether.
"Of course, I do! HUMPH. You’re just biased. Now listen, about your sister’s situation—you absolutely cannot agree to it, no matter what."
Silvia Waterborne glanced at the time on her phone, then looked back at Maxwell Peary.
"That old geezer! Stealing you kids away from me was bad enough, but now he wants to dictate Evelyn Peary’s marriage? I will never agree to that. You deal with it."
The mere mention of Samuel Peary was enough to get Silvia Waterborne riled up.
"Just calm down. Getting this worked up is bad for your health. And I’m not taking care of you if you fall ill."
Maxwell Peary nonchalantly sat down on the sofa and picked up a nearby newspaper.
"How can I possibly calm down? He actually brought up how he proposed to me all those years ago!"
