Chapter 379: Chapter 378: Charles Northwood, Are You Even a Man?

Upon hearing this, Charles Northwood suddenly felt a headache and rubbed his forehead.

"Fiona Sutton, we’re friends." The best of friends.

"To hell with your ’friend’! When have you ever treated me as a friend?"

Fiona Sutton slammed the table hard, not caring about the stares from the people around her.

"Charles Northwood, you bastard!"

Fiona Sutton roared, but Charles Northwood, sitting opposite her, remained calm.

"Fiona, have you considered? After everything you’ve said, can we still be friends?"

He was a grown man, after all; he wouldn’t be awkward or flustered. But Fiona Sutton is different; she’s a girl.

"To hell with your friendship! Friends are the last thing I lack! Who needs one like you?"

Fiona Sutton shouted. She didn’t care, didn’t care at all, not one bit!

Charles Northwood was exasperated. Alright, Fiona Sutton wasn’t exactly a delicate girl; she wouldn’t get embarrassed. She was more straightforward than most men.

"What can I say to make you believe that you aren’t really in love with me?"

Charles Northwood felt helpless. He was at his wit’s end and had no idea how to persuade her.

"Charles Northwood, are you even a man? If there’s something you don’t like about me, just say it! I’ll change! But saying ’you aren’t really in love with me’—what kind of reason is that?"

Fiona Sutton roared. He’s such a bastard! Looking at him, she felt she might actually hit him!

And so, the impetuous Fiona Sutton threw down her chopsticks and stormed out of the restaurant.

She had traveled to a distant place earlier that day, so she had rented a car.

After leaving the restaurant, she got into the car but didn’t drive off immediately.

Though furious, she still found herself staring at the restaurant’s Grand Gate.

For a long, long time...

Charles Northwood hadn’t come out after her.

Suddenly, Fiona Sutton broke down, wailing loudly as tears streamed down her cheeks.

Each sob was more heart-wrenching than the last. She, who was usually so carefree, could she really not feel heartache? Did she really not care about any of it?

Her hands trembling, she covered her face, her head bowed over the steering wheel. Tears soaked her palms, seeping into the skin she had broken with her nails, stinging sharply.

Yet, compared to the pain in her heart, this physical agony was negligible.

"Charles Northwood, you bastard!"

Fiona Sutton screamed, jerked her head up, wiped her red-rimmed eyes, then slammed her foot on the accelerator and sped off.

When you’re upset, of course, you go for a reckless drive.

So, Fiona Sutton, her eyes still red, drove towards a secluded Path, and then...

SCREECH!

BANG!

AHHH!

What the hell!

Fiona Sutton cursed. Slowly recovering from the jolt of the collision, she rubbed her head where it had hit the steering wheel, and got out of the car.

"Hey, are you blind?!"

Fiona Sutton yelled, staring at the large dent in the front of her car. Even her eyes stung with frustration.

Damn it all, this was a rental! She had to return it!

Yancy Hastings emerged from his vehicle with a dark expression and immediately spotted Fiona Sutton standing before the car, cursing loudly.

What the hell? Today was supposed to be a good day. Why was he constantly running into such rotten luck?

"Well, if it isn’t Yancy Hastings?"

That name was etched deeply into Fiona’s mind, almost as if carved into her heart with a knife. This arrogant jerk who looked down on the poor... she really wanted to rush over and beat him up. But...

She glanced at his military vehicle, then at his military uniform.

It wasn’t that she was afraid of his power or connections. Rather, after weighing her chances, she realized she truly couldn’t win a fight against him. Damn it all.
