Chapter 348: Chapter 347 Who Did You Dine With?

Nia Mitchell sat there, staring down at her fluffy slippers.

"I understand."

Nia responded in a low voice, without making any movement.

Just when Frederick Goldsmith was starting to think she would sit there forever, she slowly got up.

"Frederick, you may rest first." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

After speaking, Nia surveyed the expansive living room.

"Madam, the layout here is pretty much the same as it is in Royal Bay Villa. The Main Bedroom is still on the second floor; the stairs are on the right side of the living room."

Frederick Goldsmith pointed towards the stairs. Nia nodded and then proceeded towards them.

Seeing Nia head upstairs, Butler Goldsmith decided it was time for him to rest and not interfere with them.

The mountain villa was far more splendid than Royal Bay Villa. Even though it was nighttime, many of the scenic views weren’t as clear as they would be in broad daylight.

A golden glow suffused the entire villa, its elegant radiance captivating to behold.

The light from the grand, elegant chandelier was so brilliant that Nia found it overwhelming. For a moment, it felt as if she had been transported back to a distant past.

She was still a mere commoner back then, a university student and an intern.

And now, she stood in a world that belonged only to Maxwell Peary.

Step by step, Nia ascended the stairs, swiftly arriving at the Main Bedroom.

"Are you asleep?"

She opened the Main Bedroom door. The large, silver-gray bed was the same. A noticeable bulge under the covers made it clear that Maxwell Peary was lying there.

No sound came from the bed. Nia sighed and went to the bathroom to wash up.

Just as she entered the bathroom, Maxwell Peary sat up abruptly, having hesitated for only two seconds.

Nia had just finished brushing her teeth and was washing her face when she suddenly heard a BANG. Startled, she whirled around to look at the door.

Maxwell Peary stood at the bathroom door in his robe, his face cold and expressionless, saying nothing.

The corner of Nia’s mouth twitched. Watching him, she patted her chest over her racing heart.

"You scared me! Weren’t you asleep?"

Maxwell Peary furrowed his brows, standing in the doorway looking at her slightly flushed face.

"Why are you just getting home?"

Maxwell Peary’s cold voice echoed. Nia turned to look at her reflection in the mirror and continued washing her face.

"I’m talking to you!"

Maxwell Peary’s voice suddenly grew louder, echoing throughout the vast and silent villa, as if his was the only voice to be heard.

Nia stopped washing her face. She had never seen him this angry before.

"I went for a walk to digest the meal and clear my head from the alcohol."

Her expression was equally cold, and she said nothing more.

"Who did you have dinner with?"

He’d thought she wasn’t planning on coming back at all tonight.

For her to dare return at this hour... it truly infuriated him.

"A friend. You wouldn’t know them anyway."

She grabbed a towel, wiped her face, and walked out of the bathroom, her expression impassive.

"The butler told me you didn’t have dinner tonight."

Despite everything, Nia couldn’t help but worry about him. How much coffee did he drink all day?

Drinking coffee on an empty stomach right before bed was terrible for his health.

"Maxwell Peary, are you giving me the silent treatment? That’s so childish."

Nia Mitchell looked up into Maxwell Peary’s eyes. Her use of his full name clearly irritated him.

"Just make yourself some noodles. I’m going to bed."

With that said, Nia lay down on the large, silver-gray bed, which was still warm from the CEO’s body.

However, the moment she lay down, the CEO was utterly consumed with rage.
