First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 1965: You Aren’t Worthy
Chapter 1965: You Aren’t Worthy
Over the next several days, several others proved their Daos and became gods in rapid succession!
Sometimes, several tribulations took place within a single day, each with all the accompanying strange phenomena. Each represented an expert’s attempt to become a god!
But most failed in their attempts to achieve divinity. The nature of the accompanying phenomena in the sky made the outcomes obvious.
This caused an enormous uproar, and made those yet to become gods all the more frantic.
Su Yi had just finished a sumptuous meal, and he was currently resting in his wicker chair.
In just four short days, thirteen people have attempted to achieve divinity, but only three succeeded. The other ten failed their Divine Tribulations, and I’m sure they perished in the attempt.
When he thought back to the phenomena he’d seen over the past few days, he couldn’t help but be rueful. Becoming a god was dangerous!
No matter how talented you were, if you failed to overcome your Divine Tribulation, your soul would scatter, and all of your past accomplishments would go up in smoke.
Over the past four days, Su Yi had also gone “fishing” and killed a few more enemies. His harvest was quite ample, to the point that he wouldn’t need to worry about his cultivation after stepping into the Great Profound Stage.
Alas, he’d yet to encounter an opponent who’d already achieved divinity. He hadn’t even encountered any of the unparalleled divine children.
Not long ago, he learned from Xi Ning that Jia Yun, Wenren Qingyu, Huo Jianfeng, and the other top divine children were most likely rushing to the easternmost stretch of the Domain Boundary Battlefield.
That was where the supreme Epoch Fragments were most likely to appear.
Xi Ning and Luo Tiandu had joined forces, and they were rushing over as well.
Forget it. Fishing has gotten boring. I’ll just head east. No matter what, I have to get my hands on a supreme Epoch Fragment.
Su Yi made a decision, got up, and set off.
But before he’d gotten far, he heard the sounds of fierce combat emanating from afar.
That’s quite the disturbance. Don’t tell me newly minted gods are involved? Su Yi’s spirits soared, and he changed course, rushing toward the source of the commotion.
……
Boom!
A python the size of a mountain range let out a mournful wail before splitting into pieces. A waterfall of fresh blood splattered the sky.
“This is the power of a Lesser God!” Jiang Tai’e slowly raised his fist, his gaze utterly contemptuous.
His clothes were whiter than snow, and he had a proud, aloof disposition. Dreamlike golden divine radiance poured down from his entire body, making the surrounding air tremble. Even the wind and clouds changed color.
This was true divine majesty!
Earlier, he’d successfully refined a third-level Epoch Fragment, invited his Divine Tribulation, and overcome it with ease!
“Countless years of endurance and accumulations have given me foundations far beyond others of the same level. If such opportunities weren’t so rare, with my foundations, I’d have proven my Dao and become a god a long time ago!” Jiang Tai’e murmured to himself. “Next, I’ve got to find Wang Ye and settle things. I just hope… he doesn’t lose too badly! Otherwise, it’ll be far too dull…”
Suddenly, he sensed something, and gazed into the distance.
A group was whooshing toward him from afar.
Their leader was a divine son in brocade robes. He had a valiant, martial bearing.
“Jiang Tai’e, right? I know you,” said the divine son. “First, let me congratulate you. After countless years of waiting, you’ve successfully proven your Dao and become a god. If you’re willing, I can serve as your guide and lead you to the God Domain to continue your cultivation.”
Jiang Tai’s eyes narrowed. “You want me to become your dog?”
The man in brocade robes shook his head. “You’ve become a god, and your status has changed. That said, if you want to make further progress in the Path of Divinity, your only opportunity lies in the God Domain. I can give you that opportunity, and bring you back to my divine clan to cultivate as soon as possible!”
Here, he smiled at Jiang Tai’e. “You perhaps don’t understand, but without ancient texts and suitable cultivation resources, every step you take down the Path of Divinity will be arduous.
“And without a backer, a Lesser God like you will only face even greater adversity in the God Domain. The lofty, established old monsters won’t permit a new god to compete with them for resources. How about it? Why not consider joining us?”
After hearing the whole spiel, Jiang Tai’e fell briefly silent. Then, he sighed. “I wouldn’t have guessed that divine sons like you would put on such airs in front of me even after I became a god.”
The middle-aged man frowned. “Gods are lofty and superior, so I treated you with greater respect than before, but whatever you do, don’t assume that becoming a god means you can do whatever you want!”
Jiang Tai’e threw back his head and laughed. “During my time in the Immortal Realm, I single-handedly fought my way to the top. Who throughout its lands would dare to underestimate me?”
He was unbridled, contemptuous, and aloof. His entire body emanated imposing murderous intent. “And divine sons like you have done no more than rely on your backgrounds. In my eyes, you’re… not even worth a fart!”
“You…” The man in brocade robes was furious, and his divine emissaries were visibly enraged. None of them had anticipated that Jiang Tai’e would be so rude.
“Had I cultivated in the God Domain, I’d have proven my Dao and become a god a long time ago. Who knows how many gods I’d have slain by now? How could a little whelp like you dare behave impudently before me then?” Jiang Tai’s eyes glinted with cold light as he approached, step by step, his monstrous divine majesty spreading in all directions. “Did you know? I’ve never once taken the gods seriously, let alone measly little divine children like you!”
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, Jiang Tai’e charged.
Boom!
Heaven and earth were overturned, and the sky was thrown into turmoil.
A single palm strike, and everyone but the divine son in brocade robes died. All six of his divine emissaries exploded, their bodies reduced to puddles of blood.
The divine son didn’t get off lightly, either. Jiang Tai’s palm strike forced him to the ground, and he bled from the seven apertures of his face.
“Relax. This lofty one won’t kill you. I excel most at skinning my enemies and refining their souls. Once I’ve turned you into a puppet, I’ll be able to acquire all the information I need from your soul.” Jiang Tai’e approached, his gaze utterly contemptuous. “I have no need to become anyone’s dog. One day, I’ll be able to explore the God Domain freely, and I’ll soar to ever greater prominence!”
With that, he stretched out his hand and reached for the divine son.
“Die!” The suppressed divine son suddenly roared in fury.
Boom!
A searing beam of treasure light shot out of his body.
The beam transformed into a sword as resplendent as the fiery light of dawn. Divine radiance flowed around it, and its terrifying power was such that a single swing actually forced Jiang Tai’e back.
Practically simultaneously, the man in brocade robes shattered a talisman, dissolved into a rain of light, and vanished.
The sword shot through the air after him.
Jiang Tai’e’s eyes narrowed, and he murmured, “An Epoch Treasure? But then, that makes sense. I’d best seize the opportunity to refine a treasure for myself soon, too.”
Jiang Tai’e wasn’t at all surprised that the divine son on brocade had escaped. As much as he looked down on the divine children, he knew that these experts of the God Domain had an unimaginable superabundance of cards up their sleeves. They weren’t at all easy to kill.
But Jiang Tai’e was confident that once he’d figured out their abilities, he’d be able to take them down, one by one.
“That guy most likely never even considered the possibility that an old-timer like me who became a god in the Immortal Realm would dare strike to kill. He wouldn’t have dared be so impudent otherwise.” Jiang Tai’e’s eyes flashed. “I might well be able to take advantage of that. I can pretend to ally myself with the divine children, then wait until they lower their guard and capture them alive!”
Suddenly, applause rang out, followed by a sigh of admiration. “It’s been a long time since we last met, but you haven’t changed a bit. You’re still as ambitious, murderous, and ruthless as ever.”
Jiang Tai’e whipped around to look, then saw a tall, upright figure in blue robes approaching from afar.
This was none other than Su Yi.
Jiang Tai’e’s eyes flashed, but then, he laughed. “Were that not the case, how could I be worthy of becoming your enemy, Wang Ye?”
Ambitious, murderous, and ruthless!
This was how Wang Ye had appraised Jiang Tai’e all those years ago. Hearing those same words now, all these years later, Jiang Tai’e couldn’t help but feel a bit wistful.
Seeing them, someone who didn’t understand the situation likely would have assumed that this was a reunion of old friends.
But both Su Yi and Jiang Tai’e knew that the other longed for nothing more than to kill them immediately!
“You’ve ascended to godhood, but you still think of me as a worthy opponent?” Su Yi approached, his gait unhurried. He sounded as if he were making idle conversation.
Jiang Tai’e smiled. “Even if everyone else in this world underestimated you, I wouldn’t. If it’s as I suspect, that you dared show yourself before me implies that you have cards sufficient to contend with divine power. Am I right?”
He was probing Su Yi, yet he did so forthrightly and openly.
Su Yi was forthright and open too. “I’ve never fought a god before, and I lack nothing more than whetstones of your caliber.”
As he spoke, he drew closer and closer. Less than ten thousand feet remained between him and Jiang Tai’e.
“It really is time we ended the blood debt between us, but there’s no need to rush,” said Jiang Tai’e. “In the Epoch Battlefield, dragons swim with the fish. There are numerous troublesome divine sons about, and even the gods’ avatars of wills are due to appear soon. Why not temporarily set aside our enmities and join forces just this once?”
Here, he smiled and moved further back to maintain the distance between them. “Enough. Don’t get any closer. Ten thousand feet is plenty. Any closer, and it’d be too easy for something to go wrong.”
But Su Yi ignored him and continued his approach with incomparable domineeringness. “You want to cooperate with me? Sure. Survive a battle with me, and I wouldn’t mind giving you the opportunity to work with me.”
Jiang Tai’e frowned and moved further back. “The gods do not tolerate you, and they’ve proclaimed you a heretic. In the Epoch Battlefield, no small number of people want you dead. If we work together, we’ll be able to wipe out the divine children and the gods’ avatars of will. Why refuse?”
Su Yi said lightly, “Because you aren’t worthy.”
You aren’t worthy!

In this simple, direct sentence, Su Yi’s disdain was on full display.
Jiang Tai’e silently stopped in place. He retreated no further.
A radiant smile appeared on his youthful face. “I’ve become a god, but you dare say that I… am unworthy? Wang Ye, don’t you think you’re overestimating yourself?”
Terrifying murderous intent surged around him, then swept out in all directions, locking onto Su Yi!
