First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 1964: Kneel
Chapter 1964: Kneel
A little while later, Chu Shentong fixed his bloodshot gaze on Su Yi. “If you want to kill me, kill me. Why must you humiliate me like this!? Wang Ye, you’re… pushing me too far!”
Su Yi nodded. “Very well. In that case, let’s just end this once and for all.”
Boom!
He took a step forward, and sword intent surged from his tall, upright figure, connecting heaven and earth and making the sky tremble.
His momentum alone was enough to make Chu Shentong’s heart quiver, and he could barely breathe.
He had a strong premonition that no matter how he struggled, he wouldn’t be able to escape death.
When he saw Su Yi approach, step by step, Chu Shentong felt as if he were looking at Wang Ye approaching through a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood. Wherever he passed, heaven and earth collapsed.
The sheer terror was enough to make someone give in to despair.
Beads of sweat each the size of a broad bean appeared on Chu Shentong’s forehead. Even he didn’t realize it, but his hands and thighs were quivering uncontrollably.
“Even back then, you were no match for me, but you managed to live on in degradation all this time. You ought to be satisfied with that, don’t you think?” Su Yi’s soft voice rang out.
Chu Shentong stiffened. A moment later, he let out a bestial roar. “I don’t accept this——!”
His voice shook the clouds as he charged, seemingly intent on going to his death. Shocking divine flames rose around his entire body.
Su Yi raised his hand and pressed down.
Bang!!
Chu Shentong knelt, and throughout his body, his bones cracked and split. Blood spurted from numerous tears in his skin.
“Cultivators ought to fear neither life nor death and dread neither victory nor defeat. You’re weaker than me, so what’s there to be bitter about?” Su Yi sighed.
Chu Shentong’s eyes were bloodshot. He hissed, “Will you be happy when the divine children achieve godhood and destroy you?”
Su Yi took a moment to give it serious thought, then said, “If they’re capable of defeating me, I’ll die without regrets.”
Chu Shentong snorted derisively. He obviously didn’t believe it.
It was then that Su Yi suddenly realized that, despite being one of Wang Ye’s old enemies, Chu Shentong had never understood Wang Ye’s personality.
Su Yi couldn’t help but feel a hint of melancholy as he waved his sleeve through the air.
Bang!
Chu Shentong’s body split, and his soul dispersed.
“You didn’t understand me, and we were enemies. What’s there to pity?” Su Yi shook his head.
Killing Chu Shentong meant ending a long-standing enmity from his past life, but it only made Su Yi feel a bit forlorn. Chu Shentong, as one of his past life’s old enemies, was far too disappointing.
The Divine Replenishment Furnace was just about to gather the spoils when Su Yi stopped him. “Leave his belongings here. Take it as… leaving him his last specks of dignity.”
With that, he put away the Epoch Fragment and turned to leave. The Divine Replenishment Furnace hurried after him.
Chu Shentong was dead, but Jiang Tai’e, Nan Pingtian, and Blood Firmament were still alive!
Su Yi hoped that his old enemies would achieve divinity. It would be better that way.
Along the way, a sudden thunderclap resounded throughout the misty gray skies, shaking the entire Epoch Battlefield.
A moment later, the experts scattered across this vast landscape stopped what they were doing and gazed into the heavens.
There, they saw surging tribulation clouds and blazing divine flame, as well as a mysterious and ethereal phenomenon: the shadow of the endless River of Epochs.
A grand and ancient divine platform stood tall above the surging waters, undying and indestructible.
This strange phenomenon instantly startled everyone present.
“Tribulation clouds have appeared, and divine flames have ignited. With the River of Epochs as a backdrop, and the divine platform as a guide… someone is proving their Dao and achieving divinity!” whispered one of the divine children.
As a divine son from the God Domain, he’d witnessed breakthroughs into divinity, and he’d read numerous ancient tomes on the subject. Thus, he recognized the strange phenomena unfolding beneath the firmament at a glance. Someone was becoming a god!
Even those less versed in divinity could guess what was happening. Countless discussions broke out.
“In the Epoch Battlefield, the Great Profound Stage represented the pinnacle of strength. If someone achieves divinity, they’ll break that balance, and the entire situation will turn!” someone said with frantic urgency.
They had to seize every moment and find an opportunity to achieve divinity as soon as possible. Or else, they’d die beyond a doubt the moment they ran into a god!
“Just who is proving their Dao?”
“Not sure."
“We’re in for chaos…”
Throughout the Epoch Battlefield, everyone had a strong premonition that if they didn’t seize every moment and achieve divinity as soon as possible, their situation would get increasingly perilous.
Su Yi saw this too, but unlike the others, his heart filled with eagerness.
Even if they’d only proven their Dao recently, this person was a true Lesser God. A newly minted god might not compare to older, more established Lesser Gods, but… a god was a god! They had power that transcended the Three Stages of the Great Realm!
And that was the kind opponent Su Yi most wanted to see.
No rush. Over the next few days, more and more people will prove their Daos and achieve divinity. I’m sure my enemies will come looking for me of their own accord, thought Su Yi.
Still, I have to be on guard against the gods’ avatars of will. They’re here, in part to target me, but also most likely on account of the supreme Epoch Fragments.
Supreme Epoch Fragments were far too rare and precious. Acquiring one was no different from acquiring a seedling with the potential to one day become a Master God!
According to Xi Ning, as unquestionably vast as the God Domain was, it had been a long, long time since such an opportunity had arisen.
The gods had long since made arrangements in the Immortal Realm for the purpose of seizing the supreme Epoch Fragments born of the Epoch Battlefield!
The gods had even gone so far as to get personally involved, and they’d spent years preparing and making arrangements. It was obvious how valuable the supreme Epoch Fragments were.
Su Yi naturally didn’t want to miss out, either.
Despite taking occasional breaks to go “fishing,” he’d been headed east this entire time, because that was where the chaos source aura was the densest, and thus, where supreme Epoch fragments were most likely to appear.
……
An hour later, the strange and mystical phenomena disappeared from the sky.
A chorus of congratulations resounded throughout the dried-up landscape.
“Congratulations on attaining divinity, Daoist Brother Chu!”
Several divine emissaries walked up and warmly offered a middle-aged man in Daoist robes their congratulations, but their warmth was mixed with envy and deep-seated dread.
The man they called “Daoist Brother Chu” was named Chu Yunsheng.
He’d only just proven his Dao, but his aura had undergone an earth-shaking transformation, and his entire body shone with divine radiance. His imposing presence was as grand as the heavens!
As the crowd approached to offer their congratulations, undisguisable smug pride appeared on Chu Yunsheng’s face.
But in the end, he suppressed it, disregarded the others’ congratulations, and tidied up his clothes before approaching a beautiful woman in the distance.
“Your subordinate, Chu Yunsheng, is deeply grateful for the opportunity at divinity you’ve given me, Your Excellency!” Chu Yunsheng bowed.
The woman stood there, cold and aloof. This was none other than the unparalleled divine daughter Wenren Qingyu.
She looked Chu Yunsheng up and down, then said, “Kneel.”
It was just one word, but a deathly, tense silence descended. The divine emissaries who’d only just been congratulating Chu Yunsheng looked over, strange lights in their eyes.
Achieving divinity!
It was just one step, but it carried a cultivator beyond the Three Stages of the Great Realm. Chu Yunsheng was now a divine expert. Even in the God Domain, the masses would prostrate themselves before him.
In the God Domain, everyone knew that the gods were not to be blasphemed against.
Chu Yunsheng had just achieved divinity. This should have been the proudest moment in his life, yet now, he’d been ordered to kneel and prostrate himself. Did this… count as blaspheming against a god?
Would Chu Yunsheng dare to refuse this humiliating command?
Chu Yunsheng’s expression filled with uncertainty, and a nigh imperceptible hint of vexation appeared on his brow.
But in the end, he took a deep breath, knelt, and lowered his head to the ground. “Esteemed Divine Daughter, your subordinate only achieved divinity with your support. I will obey your every command, and I would never dare show even the slightest disrespect!”
The crowd was startled, and conflicted. Divinity was something that Great Profound Stage experts longed for. It represented unimaginable power and authority.
Who could have imagined that a newly minted god would kneel like this?
But this was reality!
The gods did not tolerate blasphemy? Sure, but in the face of absolute authority, a god like Chu Yunsheng still had no choice but to kneel and lower his head!
Wenren Qingyu gazed coldly down at Chu Yunsheng. “You know your place, but I can tell that your mentality shifted upon becoming a god. That’s to be expected. After all… becoming a god means you’re nothing like before.”

Chu Yunsheng was just about to explain when Wenren Qingyu waved. “No need to explain. What I want to say is, I can elevate a divine emissary into divinity, but by the same token, I can cast him back into the dust of mundanity! Get up.”
“Understood!” said Chu Yunsheng. Only then did he dare to rise to his feet. There was no longer any sign of his smug pride.
The other divine emissaries witnessed the entire exchange. It came as a shock to them all. So what if you became a god? There would still be times when you had to lower your head!
“Come on, let’s search for a supreme Epoch Fragment.” Wenren Qingyu turned and shot off.
She gripped a mysterious, corroded piece of copper. The corroded parts silently flashed, producing a wondrous resonance. Wenren Qingyu sensed that the further east she went, the greater her odds of finding a supreme Epoch Fragment!
……
“The good fortune of the supreme Epoch Fragments are most likely to the east!”
Jia Yun stood beneath the dome of heaven. He too led a group of divine emissaries. His hands were crossed in front of him, and he held a black statue niche to his chest.
Divine power gathered within it, giving him guidance and directing him further and further to the east.
……
“To the east! Hurry!”
“Don’t let the good fortune along the way blind you. What treasure of the Epoch Battlefield could be more precious than a supreme Epoch Fragment?”
“If we acquire a supreme Epoch Fragment, I’ll watch over you and assist you in achieving divinity!
“Remember, you must temporarily sever your hatred. Once you become a god, you’ll be able to slay that heretic with a flip of your hand!”
Huo Jianfeng was taking action too, and extraordinarily quickly at that.
There was a dark green sword case on his back, and from time to time, an aged voice emanated from it, urging him on.
Huo Jianfeng’s eyes blazed with hatred. He couldn’t forget that a chance encounter with Su Yi had almost cost him his life!
