Chapter 691: Chapter 691: A Bit of Doctor Fei

The breakfast was very generous, with freshly cooked white rice porridge that smelled delicious, a separate plate of stir-fried green vegetables, and then there were steamed buns, baozi, and milk.

After setting the table, the man very proactively served a bowl of porridge for his wife and placed it in front of her.

"It’s still a bit hot, eat slowly."

Lu Jing had just finished washing up, still holding a wet wipe to dab off the water droplets.

"I’m not a child."

Could eating breakfast really be that difficult?

Jiang Ye felt a bit uneasy as he tugged at the corner of his mouth:

"Fine, you handle it."

He silently wondered: Was he really being too nervous?

Well, he needed to be more relaxed or else his wife would feel uncomfortable.

If she misconstrued this as ’only doing this because of the child’, it would be even worse.

After Lu Jing dried his hands, he took up a spoon and leisurely started sipping the porridge, spoon by spoon.

The two had a very satisfying breakfast.

Even Lu Jing had unusually eaten two bowls of white rice porridge that morning, along with a plate of green vegetables, an egg, and half a steamed bun.

Normally, he couldn’t eat that much, which amounted to nearly twice his usual daily intake.

The difference between being pregnant and not being pregnant really was huge.

It made sense, though, since it had been over two months, and the baby was almost fully formed. It was inevitable that changes would occur in the mother’s body.

"Finished eating?"

"Yeah!"

"Then I’ll clean up."

"Go ahead."

Since they had woken up quite early this morning and there was still plenty of time, there was no need to rush and they could take things slowly.

Jiang Ye went to the kitchen to wash the dishes, while Lu Jing began preparing to go to work and then changed clothes.

Both of them were swift in their actions, and in the end, they were pretty much done at the same time.

As they left the house, the man was extra cautious and protective by her side.

"Wife, take it slow."

Lu Jing turned to look at him:

"I know."

He really didn’t want to bother with a response, but he knew the man was worried about him.

After descending the stairs, Jiang Ye wanted to do the same as the day before and drop his wife off at the hospital first.

However, they hadn’t even left the building when they were stopped:

"Captain Jiang, there’s a call from the headquarters."

Darn it!

Jiang Ye’s face visibly darkened a few shades, and his voice dropped:

"Got it."

Lu Jing tried not to laugh, holding it in with difficulty:

"Go ahead if you’re busy, I can get there on my own."

"Are you sure?"

"It’s fine, it’s not far, I’ll just take it slow."

What else could Jiang Ye say?

The headquarters were waiting for him right now; he couldn’t just ignore his work for his wife, right?

"Then send me a message when you get there."

"Alright."

That wasn’t hard at all, so he simply agreed.

....

Ten minutes later, Lu Jingren had already entered the hospital doors.

There were still several minutes left before the start of the workday, so he strolled leisurely, in no hurry.

Not having to rush for the elevator during peak hours felt so good.

"Doctor Lu, good morning!"

Oh, a colleague from the neighboring department?

"Good morning!" he responded.

Along the way, he encountered several more groups of people, exchanging greetings with them.

With these delays, he managed to just make it to the outpatient office at the right time.

The intern had arrived early and had already finished cleaning:

"Doctor Lu has arrived?"

"Yeah, you’re quite early, aren’t you?"

"Not very early, just ten minutes."

Of course, interns need to be diligent. They were hoping to stay on post-graduation, so they had to make a good impression, right?

"Are there many appointments today?"

"Today is not bad, ten in the morning, six currently in the afternoon."

But how many more would be added throughout the day, that remained to be seen.

Sometimes it’s normal to see seventy to eighty patients in a morning. Just ask Doctor Fei – completely exhausted!
