Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 393 - 266: She Wants to Find Him and the Snake Tail
Seeing the female fall asleep in his arms, her hand lightly clutching his clothes, looking so soft and delicate, her complexion far rosier and healthier than before, an unconcealable obsession and affection swirled in Ze Sheng’s usually cold eyes.
He had hidden her away in the palace, keeping her meticulously, building her one castle after another, creating stunning gardens... all in an attempt to bind her to his side completely.
He didn’t want anyone to discover her, especially... her three previous mates.
’She should belong to me, and me alone.’
At this thought, Ze Sheng’s gentle expression turned gloomy and cold. He reached out to touch her face, and the female in his arms unconsciously nuzzled against his finger. His heart immediately melted all over again.
"King." A respectful voice called from outside the door.
With a mere thought from Ze Sheng, the female in his arms transformed back into a little white fox. He turned his gaze to the door. "Come in. What is it?"
...
Wamiya woke up at noon the next day to find Ze Sheng gone. Her stomach was rumbling, and just as she was about to go find something to eat, she overheard a conversation between some nearby Beast Servants.
’Ze Sheng... left? He went to slay some Magical Beast, and no one knows when he’ll be back!?’
The little white fox, sneaking out of the kitchen, froze. The fragrant piece of roasted meat in her mouth fell to the ground with a SPLAT, but she seemed completely unaware.
A Beast Servant heard the noise and glanced in her direction.
She scurried away.
She dove headfirst into a nearby thicket. Thankfully, her body was small, and the dense leaves completely concealed her.
’Ze Sheng left me? He just left without a single word.’
Tears suddenly welled up in Wamiya’s eyes.
Because of her forced imprinting, he was something like a parent to her.
It was as if a Beast Mother had just abandoned her two-month-old cub at home without a second thought.
Of course the cub would be sad.
Although she wasn’t some crybaby cub, she still felt a deep sense of dejection. Worse, she had an innate craving for him. With Ze Sheng gone for who knew how long, she had no idea how to suppress this yearning.
’No, I have to go find him!’
’I feel this deep, physical craving compelling me to find him right away, and then... take a bite?’
’My mouth is getting so dry.’
They were fated partners. Even though they hadn’t bonded, they still shared a telepathic connection far beyond that of ordinary people. She could clearly and quickly pinpoint his current location.
The walls of the Royal City were managed and repaired by Beastmen every month, but small holes were inevitable. Taking advantage of her small beast form, Wamiya found one such hole and squeezed through effortlessly.
Before her lay a boundless, lush jungle, primitive and thriving. The crisp sound of birdsong filled her ears, punctuated by the occasional roars of beasts clashing deeper within the forest.
This was her first time leaving the city and venturing deep into the dangerous jungle.
A heavy rain had fallen a few days prior, leaving the ground pockmarked with puddles. Every step was like setting off a landmine, splashing up sheets of muddy water.
Her small, snow-white paws were stained with mud.
Lush branches crisscrossed overhead. Sunlight filtered through the sparse gaps in the canopy, casting mottled shadows on the ground that trembled and swayed with the mountain breeze like shattered starlight.
A RUSTLING sound came from the bushes beside her.
A massive wild boar was slowly approaching its "food."
It had a pair of tusks that curved nearly to its eyes, its face twisted with hunger. Its stinking, cavernous mouth lunged to bite her.
The next second, a flash of incandescent light, sharp as a blade, sliced the charging boar in two.
The little white fox waved her paw casually. Dealing with an ordinary beast like this was no trouble at all. However, a spray of blood misted her fur, and with no river nearby to clean herself, she grew depressed and irritable.
As time went on, the stinking scent of blood on her fur attracted the attention of other beasts, and she endured wave after wave of sneak attacks.
Wamiya had been outside the Royal City for less than half a day, but she had already killed five or six beasts. The stench of blood on her grew stronger, and she could even faintly hear the footsteps of more beasts running in her direction.
’I can’t go on like this.’ She shook her head, which was starting to feel groggy again. Her limbs were growing weak and pliant.
’I’m getting sleepy again...’
’I... I have to find Ze Sheng... quickly...’
Wamiya could feel herself getting closer and closer to him. She just had to hold on a little longer.
’I can’t fall asleep. I just can’t.’
But the deeper she ran into the forest, the more silent the air became—an eerie silence, as if all living things had vanished.
The strange atmosphere bred fear.
In her field of view, the once-vibrant green jungle began to turn as black as ink. Huge swaths of trees lay toppled on equally pitch-black soil, and dense swarms of dark insects occasionally crawled from crevices between the rocks.
The sinister branches looked like soul-reaping specters, and the whistling wind sounded like a wailing banshee. A faint miasma of blood and rot hung in the air.
The little white fox shrank back, her ears flattening against her head.
Suddenly, her paw stepped on something hard. She lifted it and saw a half-shattered Beastman skull.
"!!!" Only then did she realize she was surrounded by countless bones.
’And why is the ground black?’
It was the dark, rotten crimson of vast amounts of dried blood.
"CAW CAW—" Countless carrion vultures perched in the trees, having already surrounded her. All of them, without exception, were black.
Pairs of eerie red eyes stared curiously down at the confused "intruder" on the ground.
’A feast. Looks like a cub, too. The meat must be tender.’
’It’s been a long time since I’ve had fresh prey. Can’t believe this little cub dared to enter our Magical Beast territory.’
’Eat it, eat it!’
’CAW!’
...
A gust of wind, carrying a pungent stench, ruffled her fur.
"A-WOO!" The little white fox shrank back, baring her sharp canines and letting out a low growl.
As her vigilant gaze swept her surroundings, she glanced up and froze, meeting a pair of enormous, blood-red eyes.
It was a High Rank Magical Beast, as massive and towering as a small mountain. It was ferocious, terrifying, and it fed on Beastmen.
Gust after gust of the foul stench blew her fur into disarray.
Wamiya finally realized that the previous gust of wind had been the Magical Beast’s breath.
She subconsciously tried to gather Energy for an attack, but her legs were weak and her mind was muddled. Her body refused to obey her commands.
At this moment of life and death, she was actually starting to... get sleepy again.
The High Rank Magical Beast was about to swat her into a fresh paste of meat and bone.
But in the next second, it recoiled several steps as if it had seen something terrifying, then promptly turned and fled.
The surrounding vultures also scrambled into the air, flapping their wings and vanishing completely. Black feathers drifted down, one of them landing right on her head.
’Ew, it stinks.’
She weakly shook her head.
This part of the jungle returned to the same silence as when she had first arrived, leaving only the sound of weak panting.
Wamiya, who had been holding her breath in fear, stood frozen.
’Wait, where is that breathing coming from?’
She turned around 180 degrees and was stunned to see a conspicuous flash of black and red not far away. The contrasting colors of the serpentine pattern looked dangerous and wild.
A massive, winding snake tail lay sprawled across the ground.
Small patches of blood dotted the area.
