Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 278 - 185: Brewing Wine and You Don’t Trust Me
A rustling came from the snow-covered bushes, and Gu Yin and Ling Hong appeared before her, each carrying a large armful of taro.
"Are you sure this stuff is edible?" Gu Yin asked, confused. "It’s making my skin a little itchy. Don’t touch it."
He took her outstretched hand in his.
"That’s normal. The sap from raw taro has something in it that can make your skin itch." An Jin pulled her hand free and reached out to touch his slightly reddened arm, her voice full of concern. "The sap can cause an allergic reaction. When we get back, wash it off, then roast your arm over the fire for a bit, and it’ll be fine."
’Roast it?’
Gu Yin frowned. Clearly, he was very resistant to the idea of roasting himself over a fire.
The moment the three of them returned to the city, they ran into some patrolling Beastmen. The Beastmen hurried over to An Jin. "Lord City Lord, you went out? It’s still snowing. It might not be safe outside..."
"It’s fine. I have Ling Hong and Gu Yin with me. We won’t run into any danger."
An Jin gestured for the two men to come forward. She handed the taro to the Beastmen and said with a smile, "We found this taro in the surrounding fields. You can eat it by roasting it, just like sweet potatoes."
"You can put it in the storehouse as provisions, and we can also plant it next year."
"Yes, ma’am." The Beastmen’s eyes lit up with pleasant surprise. They took the taro and quickly departed.
The three returned to the wooden house empty-handed. They had forgotten to close the window before leaving, so a cold draft was blowing through, making the inside of the house just as frigid as the outside.
Gu Yin grabbed a beast-pelt coat and draped it over An Jin’s shoulders. Then, he wrapped his arms tightly around her, pulling her into his embrace. Meanwhile, Ling Hong quickly brought dry firewood from the side storage room and lit the fire pit.
As the floor grew warm, the temperature in the room quickly began to rise.
Gu Yin held his arm over the opening of the fire pit for a moment, warming it until it was red like a cooked sweet potato. Then, he pressed his searing-hot right hand against her ice-cold cheek.
"Ah! You scared me! I thought my face was going to catch fire." An Jin jerked her head away and saw the mischievous expression on a certain snake’s face. She pulled his hand away.
"You’re too cold. I wanted to warm you up." Gu Yin hugged her by the waist, resting his chin on her neck and nuzzling her. He half-closed his eyes, a look of adoration on his face.
Ling Hong glanced over at the two of them, his expression falling. He said quietly, "...I’m going to make food."
"Wait, I’ll go with you!" An Jin quickly raised her hand.
Ling Hong stopped and turned. Seeing her run over, his expression brightened once more. "Okay." He thought for a moment, then asked gently, "What would you like to eat? I’ve come up with a few new dishes recently. I wonder if you’ll like them?" He subtly took her hand and led her toward the kitchen.
Gu Yin watched coldly as their figures disappeared around the corner. Finally, he transformed into a black-and-red python, coiling up silently in a corner to sulk.
...
「Two more peaceful days passed.」
The Great Cold Season finally arrived, just as expected. The entire continent was blanketed in white snow, a piercingly bright landscape as far as the eye could see.
An Jin stayed cooped up in her large house, eating the food they had already stored and enjoying the warmth from the heated floors. A thick layer of frost flowers had formed on the windows, obscuring the view of the outside world.
"Here we are in the Great Cold Season again, the hardest time of the year. Stuck at home all day with nothing to do... time passes so slowly..." she sighed.
"We could do lots of interesting things," Gu Yin said, suddenly intrigued. He slithered to her side, grabbing her delicate, slender waist and pinning her down. "We could ma—"
"W-Wait!" An Jin scrambled to cover his mouth, casting a fearful glance toward Ling Hong’s room, terrified he would finish that word.p>Ever since their mutual jealousy last time, Gu Yin had become more and more brazen. An Jin really didn’t want to be caught in the middle.
"Speaking of which, you don’t seem to be hibernating this year. Aren’t you sleepy? Don’t you need to hibernate anymore?"
Gu Yin took her hand and placed it against his own cheek, nuzzling it affectionately. "I don’t need to anymore. Ever since I was promoted to a King Beast, I’ve developed a resistance to hibernation."
He still got seasonally drowsy, but the moment he thought about that cunning Wolf Beast trying to use the opportunity to seduce his Jin’er while he slept, Gu Yin was instantly wide awake.
