Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Revoking Your Mating Qualification

The newcomer was a plain-looking young female with a flat face, small, narrow eyes, and a sickly, sallow complexion. Her limbs were short and slightly pudgy.

Those small, narrow eyes stared at her viciously, a savage look on her face as if she wanted to bore a hole through her with her gaze.

An Jin had always thought she was tragically ugly, but it turned out everyone else was in the same boat.

’What a relief.’

She bent down, picked up the fruit that had fallen on the ground, and held it to her chest. She then patted the dust off her animal-hide skirt and, ignoring the aggressive female, prepared to leave.

"Hey, that’s my food! Let go, or you’ll regret it!" The female behind her stomped her foot in anger, rushing forward to grab An Jin and snatch the food back.

Food in the tribe was so scarce. Most of it went to females with many partners and strong fertility. Even she didn’t have enough to eat, so how could they give any to this useless female?!

An Jin was grabbed, and a fire ignited in her heart. "This is the food *I* was given. Why should I give it to you?"

"Hmph, ’your food’? I already asked Ani Yungong for it a few days ago! They were just out last time, and Ani Yungong told me to wait a couple of days and come back for it! I already called dibs, so the food in your hands should be mine!"

Shana held out her small, fleshy, sallow hands and lifted her head as haughtily as a swan. Her narrow eyes glinted with a disdain that was enough to make anyone’s blood boil.

Seeing that An Jin wouldn’t even give her a proper look, Shana grew even angrier. As the most beautiful female in the tribe, when had she ever been wronged like this? "Why aren’t you talking? Feeling guilty? I suggest you don’t be ungrateful. Otherwise, you’ll be in for it when I tell my suitors!"

A hint of pride laced Shana’s voice. Although she didn’t have a partner, her single-minded devotion to Ling Hong had, ironically, made the young males of the tribe admire her even more.

Combined with her outstanding looks, she had a whole crowd of suitors behind her!

If she so much as lifted a finger, a group of them would rush to defend her honor, willing to do anything and everything for her.

’Hmph, there aren’t many females in the tribe foolish enough to provoke me!’

The Old Beastman quickly tried to smooth things over. "Shana, don’t throw a tantrum. There’s still plenty of food this time. I can get some more for you."

Shana bit back stubbornly, glaring at the Old Beastman. "No, I want hers! It was supposed to be mine, so why shouldn’t she give it to me!"

The matter could have been resolved easily, but Shana was determined to pick a fight out of sheer spite. She just couldn’t stand this female.

She was dark-skinned and ugly, frail, and infertile. Not a single male in the tribe wanted her. Her being alive was a complete waste of the tribe’s food and resources.

And recently, she had even heard a rumor that this ugly female was shamelessly mooching in Ling Hong’s home. It was making her sick with anger!

The more Shana thought about it, the angrier she became. With flames of fury in her narrow eyes, she lunged forward and grabbed the female’s hair, intending to teach her a harsh lesson.

But Shana had been pampered since birth and was unaccustomed to physical exertion. Her movements were sluggish and her arms flailed clumsily. An Jin dodged her with a simple sidestep.

With a shriek, Shana’s momentum carried her forward, and she face-planted right on the ground, getting a mouthful of dirt.

"PTHOOEY! PTHOOEY!"

She scrambled up from the ground, a complete mess, rubbing her bruised knee. Her eyes reddened, and tears of pain immediately started to fall.

She had never been so humiliated in her entire life.

’Damn it, she hit me! How dare that female dodge?!’

’This is infuriating!’

’If I don’t get revenge, and people find out about this, I’ll become a laughingstock!’

Hearing some movement outside, an idea struck Shana. She began to wail loudly, her cries echoing in all directions. "Zuo Mi! Someone’s bullying me! Aren’t you going to help?! Believe me, I’ll revoke your right to pursue me!"

Tears and snot streamed down her face, a truly pitiful sight, as if she had truly suffered a great injustice.

Just then, the slender, black silhouette of a wolf burst through the door.

The black wolf landed and transformed into a handsome, black-haired young man. He took a few long strides, bent down, and anxiously scooped Shana up by her thick, round waist, lifting her into his arms.

"Shana, how did you get hurt? I’ll take you to the Witch Doctor!"

He looked at the scrapes on the female’s face and knee, his heart aching with distress.

Zuo Mi had been strolling around the tribe when he caught Shana’s scent and decided to come find her. He never expected to suddenly hear her explosive wails and had rushed over immediately.

Zuo Mi comforted the female he had long admired, reaching out to wipe the tears and snot from her face. He showed no disgust at her messy state; his jet-black eyes were filled only with tenderness and affection.

"I’m not going to the Witch Doctor! That person is the one who hurt me! If you don’t get justice for me, I won’t go!"

Shana pounded his chest aggrievedly and pointed a finger at An Jin. Pouting, she whined her accusations from the Wolf Beast’s arms, "I’m so hungry, and she stole my food! If you don’t punish her for me, I won’t let you pursue me anymore!"

Hearing her final sentence, Zuo Mi’s face turned pale with horror. His expression was one of utter despair, as if it were the end of the world. "No, don’t—don’t abandon me! I always listen to you!"

The man then shot a fierce glare at An Jin. "How dare you hurt Shana! You’re courting death." His eyes filled with loathing and killing intent, his hand morphing from a palm into a claw, ready to strike at any moment.

Shana’s lips curved into a satisfied smile.

Although Zuo Mi wasn’t as powerful or charming as Ling Hong, his strength was still in the upper echelons among the young Beastmen, making him a good candidate for a partner.

Years ago, she had merely given this Wolf Beast a sip of water when he was thirsty. She never expected him to become her most ardent and undyingly loyal suitor.

To this day, Shana still remembered the ecstatic adoration in his jet-black eyes when she had casually handed him that water.

But unexpectedly, Zuo Mi clenched his hand into a fist, hesitated for a long moment, then turned his head to her and sighed softly. In an aggrieved tone, he said, "Nana, males can’t harm females. It’s... it’s a rule of the tribe..."

Shana nearly choked with rage. Her eyes spitting fire, she angrily scratched several nail marks onto Zuo Mi’s body. "I’m the one who’s hurt, and you’re telling me about tribal rules?! You call that Little Black Mud a female? No male even wants her, and you call her a female??"

Shana cursed loudly, making no effort to hide her disgust. An Jin froze for a second, slowly realizing that *she* was the "Little Black Mud" Shana was talking about.

The original owner of this body was an orphan. No one knew her name, and her personality was timid and cowardly. Later, someone gave her a nickname, something akin to "Little Dark Girl."

Because she was small and dark-skinned, the name fit quite well.

Gradually, everyone started calling her that. But over time, it slowly morphed into the derisive "Little Black Mud."
