Chapter 212: Chapter 154: Fluffy Wolf and the Inconceivable Pectoral Height Check

"Are you feeling better now?"

Ling Hong practically buried her in the thick, furry beast hide, pulling her tightly against himself.

"Mmm~"

An Jin nuzzled against his chest, her hands wrapping around his long, sexy neck as she softly explained, "I rescued a group of injured Beastmen. I just got back from Chi Li’s place. I was helping him out, so I’m late..."

’So warm, so comfortable.’

She curled up in Ling Hong’s warm embrace, pressing flush against his scorching, firm chest. She sighed contentedly as her beautiful black eyes narrowed in cat-like pleasure.

’I wish Ling Hong would turn into his beast form. He’s like a giant, fluffy space heater.’

Unable to resist, she buried her face in his firm, full chest and took a deep breath. Nuzzling him again, she made her voice intentionally coy and soft. "I knew you’d be worried about me and wouldn’t let me go out easily, so I didn’t tell you."

"But you have to trust me, I had it under control. Besides, I had Gu Yin protecting me, didn’t I? There was no way anything could have gone wrong!"

"But if something had happened, everything would have been ruined, wouldn’t it?"

Ling Hong was clearly even more dejected. His wolf tail hung limp against his leg. After a quick glance at her, he lowered his head again, his voice low and full of hurt. "And we agreed I’d stay home to protect you..."

’I can’t believe that snake seized the opportunity instead.’

"Alright, alright, it won’t happen again. The next time something like this comes up, I promise I’ll tell you beforehand, okay?"

Ling Hong’s sharp brows knitted together. He gritted his teeth and snarled, "There won’t be a next time!"

"Okay, okay, no next time. It was my fault this time," An Jin quickly replied, her apology exceptionally sincere.

She then planted a kiss on his cheek, smiling up at him from his embrace with her eyes curved into happy crescents.

"...Mmm." Only then did Ling Hong’s mood brighten slightly. His handsome face remained serious and stern, but his wolf ears perked up, the tips flushing hot. Behind him, his low-hanging wolf tail began to wag cheerfully.

As it happened, he had already boiled a pot of water, and the bonfire was still lit, so he helped An Jin take a quick bath, washing away the rain and mud, along with her bone-deep fatigue.

After drying An Jin off, he helped her into a set of clean, dry clothes before carrying her to the dining table to eat.

Gu Yin also served the warmed-up dishes, shooting Ling Hong a frosty look before inconspicuously coiling up beside An Jin.

Today, the two of them had made a large platter of honey-roasted meat, several vegetable and meat side dishes, and a large pot of fish soup.

The fish for the soup had been killed and cooked on the spot, making it delicious and fresh. An Jin, both famished and sleepy, downed half the pot in one go.

Since fish and shrimp spoil easily, Ling Hong had found time a couple of days prior to dig a large pond by their door. He had moved some fat grass carp from the nearby river into it, raising them there to be eaten.

This way, they could be killed right before cooking, which was incredibly convenient and fresh—much to An Jin’s delight.

With her gone all day, Ling Hong had been too worried to hunt. Instead, he stayed home and reinforced the stone steps by the door with an extra layer of clay.

He had also set out some bitter greens to dry by the window, but after last night’s downpour, they had to be dried all over again.

After eating her fill, An Jin went to bed and slept soundly until noon the next day.

During her sleep, she dreamed of the silver-haired man again. ’It seemed... he was calling out to her?’ The dream left her feeling more exhausted the longer she slept.

When she woke up, her mind was still groggy. Her eyes vacant, she stared at the wooden ceiling for a good long while.

’How many days has it been now?’

’In my two lifetimes, I’d never had an erotic dream. Even if I did, it should have been about Ling Hong or Gu Yin! How on earth did that strange man get into my head??’

She got dressed and went to the river to wash up. The cold water she splashed on her face finally chased away the wild thoughts racing through her mind.

After that strange thunderstorm two nights ago, the little moisture left in the clouds seemed to have been completely wrung out. The weather stayed clear for several days straight.

Gu Yin and Ling Hong didn’t have to hunt today, so they both followed An Jin to the plantation they had recently cleared.

The tribe hadn’t suffered any damage from Demon Beasts, but in the plantation, the young saplings they had recently planted were battered and listless from the storm. Several had even toppled over.

The three of them worked together, setting the fallen saplings upright and replanting them in newly dug holes.

"You two reinforce these saplings. I’ll be right back. Don’t follow me."

An Jin made an excuse and slipped away. She secretly tossed the banana saplings she’d successfully grown in her space behind a tree, then pretended to stumble upon them. "Hey! There are more saplings over here."

"Let’s dig them up quickly and spread them out. The survival rate will be higher that way!"

Gu Yin and Ling Hong gave the saplings a dubious look. ’How did we not notice these leftover saplings before?’

The pit still contained freshly dug, damp soil. Afraid they would see through her trick, An Jin quickly stomped on the ground to cover it up and hurried the two of them back to work.

It was a hot noon by the time they finished their work in the plantation.

Gu Yin went into the nearby woods to pick some sweet fruits for her. He wiped the dirt from their skins before handing them over.

An Jin shot up from the ground so quickly that her vision went black. She swayed and bumped right into Ling Hong’s muscular, rock-hard chest.

He caught her and steadied her, rubbing the spot on her head where she’d bumped it. "Have you gotten taller?" he asked suddenly, surprised.

’I remember when I rescued her, she was so thin and small. She was weightless on my back, and she didn’t even come up to my chest.’

Ling Hong and Gu Yin were about the same height—both looked to be over 1.9 meters tall. The two of them then began to measure her height against their own bodies.

"She has."

Gu Yin rubbed An Jin’s head as well. His snake tail morphed into human legs, and he placed a hand on top of her head, measuring her against himself. "She has gotten a little taller. She reaches my chest now."

His gaze then dropped to her chest. Despite his handsome face, he grinned like a lecher and said meaningfully, "They’ve grown quite a bit. And they’ve gotten softer, too."

It took a moment for An Jin to realize what he meant. Her mouth twitched, and she couldn’t resist kicking him lightly. "What are you talking about? I’ve just been eating well lately! It’s about time I grew a little!"

’Other people use measuring tapes and make marks on a wall. These two are actually using their pecs to measure my height?!’

’Simply unbelievable.’

From the nearby river came a SPLASHING sound. A Merfolk’s soaking wet, blue head emerged from the water. With a flick of his tail, he swam to the bank.

Xi glanced fearfully at Gu Yin, then over at Ling Hong. His gaze finally landed on An Jin, his expression turning to one of delight. In a cloyingly sweet, soft voice, he called out, "Ah Jin~~"

"Wh-what is it?" Goosebumps broke out on An Jin’s skin as she walked over to Xi.

"HISS~"

Gu Yin shot him a dangerous look. He had a terrible impression of this Merfolk, who often wore an expression in front of Jin’er that other males found repulsive. Plus, he had hurt his Jin’er just a few days ago.

Although it was because he was being controlled, that only proved he was both stupid and useless, making Gu Yin detest him even more.
