Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 160 - 122: Her Choice
An Jin was so cold she couldn’t take it anymore. She obediently curled up under Ling Hong’s stomach, pulling her animal-hide coat tight and leaning her back against the big, soft, fluffy wolf for warmth.
’She now had reason to suspect—’
’Had Ling Hong deliberately brought her out on such a cold day, using the natural advantage of his beast form to make her dependent on him?’
’Then again, that didn’t seem right. A simple, honest lone wolf like Ling Hong surely wouldn’t have such a devious mind.’
The campfire in the cave CRACKLED AND POPPED. Having eaten and drunk her fill, it wasn’t long before An Jin began to feel drowsy.
"I’m going to sleep now..." she said with a yawn, rubbing her watery eyes. She snuggled into the Silver Wolf’s embrace, adjusting herself into a comfortable position.
The Silver Wolf nodded, a soft hum rumbling in his chest. He licked her hair with his warm, wet tongue. "Awoo~ You can rest easy. I’m here. No ordinary beast would dare approach."
"Alright."
An Jin had complete faith in his strength.
Sleepiness washed over her like crashing waves. Her nerves completely relaxed, and she soon drifted off into dreamland.
The Silver Wolf glanced at the sky outside before lowering his gaze to the female in his embrace. A gentle light filled his lupine eyes, which were usually so fierce and cold.
He gently wrapped his forepaws around the female’s waist, nearly cocooning her entire body in his fluffy, searingly hot fur. His massive form shielded her completely from the cold wind and harsh chill outside the cave.
The female in his embrace had already closed her eyes, her long black hair spilling across the Silver Wolf’s fur. Her long, curled black lashes fluttered gently, and her delicate, pretty face was dewy with a light sweat from the warmth.
Wrapped in a ball of warmth, An Jin was incredibly comfortable. She unconsciously let out a soft sigh in her sleep, her small hand clutching the soft, snow-white fur on the Silver Wolf’s chest as she curled up even tighter.
She was almost completely buried in a great mass of dense, snow-white fur.
If you didn’t look closely, you would have thought there was only a large snow wolf in the cave.
"’Huh...?’" In the midst of a deep sleep, An Jin suddenly realized the handful of soft fur she was holding had turned hard. It felt as hard as stone, and there were several distinct sections.
She gasped and her eyes flew open.
Blinking her dark eyes, An Jin saw that Ling Hong had also fallen asleep and had unconsciously shifted back into his human form.
Her hands were now wrapped around Ling Hong’s lean, firm waist, and her head was resting on his chest. Her long eyelashes brushed against his pectoral muscles every time she blinked.
"..." An Jin quickly regained her composure. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
’It must be the heat.’ She fought back the blush warming her cheeks and tried to pull her hands away, only to realize that the man’s arms were also wrapped tightly around her waist.
Ling Hong’s tall, powerful body was curled around her. His large hands were clasped at the small of her back, as if trying to absorb her softness and warmth.
He was holding her tight and showed no signs of letting go.
An Jin swallowed hard. It took a lot of effort to wake him. As he came to, his face still held a dazed and confused expression. "...What’s wrong? What happened? Are we in danger?"
His short, silver-white hair clung to his pale, exquisite face, his wolf ears drooping low in his hair. A flicker of confusion crossed his narrow, jade-green eyes. And the very first thing he did upon waking was to pull the female even tighter against him.
Ling Hong had never held a female like this before.
’No wonder that snake is so possessive. So this is what it’s like. Females are so soft... it feels amazing to hold one.’
’This wasn’t his usual personality. He didn’t even understand why he was playing dumb.’
As if guessing what she was about to say, Ling Hong’s gaze fell, and he murmured, "Can I keep holding you? It’s cold outside. You’ll freeze. Besides... I don’t want to let you go..."
"..."
"That snake isn’t a good mate. His temperament is unstable, he has to hibernate, and he’s cold to the touch when you hold him."
An Jin’s mouth fell open. She never would have thought that the normally simple and honest Ling Hong could be so ruthlessly accurate when slandering Gu Yin behind his back.
"So... what are you trying to say?"
However dense An Jin might have been about romance, even she could see that something was off about Ling Hong at this moment.
His lupine eyes, normally as cold and sharp as a winter blade, were now fixed on her, burning with an affection hotter than the campfire. He buried his head against her collarbone, his usually cool, deep voice softening. "I want to be your mate. Will you accept me, too? I also want to protect you... just like that snake..."
His voice trailed off. He looked up nervously at the silent An Jin and swallowed hard, his heart thumping wildly inside his firm, warm chest.
"...Why do you suddenly want to be my mate?" An Jin asked, her voice laced with confusion as she glanced toward the pitch-black entrance of the cave.
