Chapter 106: Chapter 99: So Useless

An Jin knocked hesitantly on the door. "Mi Yin, are you in there?"

’No response. Strange. Did he go out to hunt? With his lazy temperament, he doesn’t seem like the type to go hunting in this heat.’

An Jin stood at the door for a long time, deliberating, unsure if she should call out again.

After a long moment.

She heard the scraping sound of a snake’s tail.

Then, a faint "mm" came from inside the house.

An Jin was puzzled. "Why didn’t you answer before?"

"I was sleeping. Didn’t hear you."

She could tell he wasn’t in a good mood; his reply was dismissive. She nodded, a little unhappy herself. "Alright then. I won’t disturb you. You get some rest..."

The sound of her light footsteps faded as she walked away from the door.

In the pitch-black room, the python coiled in the corner lifted its head. Its crimson pupils flashed. As he realized she was walking away, an intense wave of panic washed over him.

He suddenly arched the upper half of his body and surged toward the door, wanting to drag her back. But just as his head was about to touch the wood...

...he recoiled as if shocked.

"HISS~"

’He wanted Jin’er to realize he was unhappy. He hadn’t even gone out to eat for two days, but her attention was still completely on that Wolf Beast.’

’Just as I thought. No one cares about a Wandering Beast.’

’She probably only accepted me because of the mate mark. I’m not that important to her at all, am I...?’

At this thought, Mi Yin grew even more dejected. The massive, ten-meter-long, black-and-red python slowly coiled himself back into a tight, flat disc, lying motionless in the corner.

But to his surprise, it wasn’t long before her footsteps returned, this time accompanied by the rich aroma of food.

A knock came at the wooden door, followed by her gentle, concerned voice. "It’s evening now. I noticed you haven’t eaten anything all day, so I made some chicken soup for you. Would you like some?"

The python buried its head deeper into its coils, his body tightening. "You don’t have to worry about me," he said, his voice muffled. "I’m not hungry."

An Jin was speechless.

’He’s acting like a pouting child.’

She rubbed the bridge of her nose. She realized the snake was definitely sulking at her. She never would have guessed that the fierce and cold Mi Yin could be so childish when he was angry.

’And I have no experience placating anyone.’

She placed the steaming chicken soup by the door and waited for a long time, but he still didn’t open it. An Jin’s patience was wearing thin, but she kept her voice gentle. "Stop being angry and eat something first. Whatever you want as compensation, I’ll agree to it, okay?"

"..."

Once the footsteps outside had faded away again, the wooden door creaked softly and opened a tiny crack.

The tip of a snake tail snaked out, wrapped tightly around the bowl of chicken soup, and dragged it inside. Then, the tail quickly pulled the door shut...

’I can’t let the soup Jin’er made for me go to waste.’

When An Jin returned with a plate of roasted meat, she saw from a distance that the large bowl of chicken soup at the door was gone.

’He really is like a cub. His cold shoulder crumbled so quickly.’

She couldn’t help but smile. She crouched down to place the roasted meat by the door, but before she could knock, the door clicked open.

A dark figure flashed before her eyes, and she was pulled into a cool, firm embrace by a pair of strong arms. The wooden door slammed shut with a BANG, plunging her into darkness.

Mi Yin leaned down, his lips brushing against her ear as he murmured, his slender fingers landing on her waist and trailing downward. "You said you’d compensate me."

"..."

An Jin looked up, speechless. The light was too dim; she could only make out the man’s blurred silhouette. His deep, scorching crimson eyes were staring intently at her, beautiful enough to drown a person in their depths.

"Can’t you show a little self-control?" It wasn’t that An Jin didn’t want to be with him, but the mere thought of a Snake Beast’s stamina made her knees feel weak.

’He’s going to drain me dry one of these days.’

"You’re my mate. Who else would I go to?" Mi Yin said, his voice a mixture of grievance and impatience.

The feeling was intoxicating; once he’d had a taste, he craved more.

Besides, it wasn’t that he was that desperate. It was just that he really hadn’t touched her in a long time. An Jin’s mind was completely focused on the tribe, and the time she spent with him was minimal. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

For Mi Yin, the peaceful life in the tribe was simply too boring.

He was usually lonely and bored. Apart from sleeping, his only other pastime was pestering her for some excitement.

An Jin couldn’t resist Mi Yin’s passionate advances and ultimately yielded. He pinned her against the wall, their encounter moving to various places around the room.

He usually preferred to be quiet, always being restrained and gentle out of consideration for her feelings. This time, however, he held nothing back, his actions unusually fierce as if he were venting all his jealousy.
