Fated to the Alpha's Sons: An Omegas Rise to Fame-Chapter 92: Samuel.
Chapter 92: Samuel.
After a while of watching random people move about, some happy, some joyful, some just there; she had to admit checking out boxes would have been a better option.
Watching the footage was absolutely boring. She couldn’t understand how security guys did it.
"Bored already?" Theo teased from opposite her, his eyes on the other two screens as a chuckle threatened to break through his lips.
"I’m not." She said stubbornly.
"Oh please, I can practically perceive the thick scent of your boredom." He pressed, clicking his mouse.
"Not sure you know what you are perceiving, but it’s definitely not my boredom. It could be yours though, besides you called it boring in the first place, remember?" She said looking at him briefly before letting her eyes turn back to her screen.
"Valid point." He said chuckling. "You should be a lawyer." He suggested, his eyes going back and forth between the two screens.
"Yeah, maybe in my next life." She said easily, deciding to not think about his thoughts about her future.
"Next life?" He asked, his eyes leaving the screens briefly to her before going back.
"Mmhm." She said not returning his gaze.
"Why next life? What about now? You’re just 18. You have more than enough time, and so much potential." He said like it was beyond obvious.
"I don’t want to." She clipped, not taking her eyes off the screen, all specks of humor gone from her face.
"Why?" He asked, an incredulous look on his face. "And don’t say it’s because of money. You have your mates now. Your parents don’t have to pay a dime and you know we have more than enough money." He added.
Bethany sighed, honestly not feeling like responding. She racked her head for a suitable response but came up with none, so she opted to stay quiet and let him think she was thinking about what he said. free𝑤ebnovel.com
Why didn’t she want to go to college? It was simple. She didn’t think she felt like it anymore.
Initially, she really wanted to. She always saw it as a way to escape everything and everyone. She’d always wanted to see the big city. All the shining lights her classmates always spoke about and the ones she’d seen in pictures. She really wanted to go there someday.
Until she learned they could afford it, and that they had stopped offering scholarships to the best students.
Devastated couldn’t describe how terrible she felt. How heavy her heart weighed in her chest, how tight she felt on the inside.
After a while of searching, she’d finally found a way to process all the horrible things she was feeling. She’d punch a sandbag for hours, and kill a mannequin several times. She even applied to join the soldiers but she was turned down because she was a minor.
And now, after every trial and tribulation, Selena decided to answer her one out of a hundred requests by giving her not one, but three powerful mates at 18.
How generous.
For what it’s worth, she couldn’t have it any other way.
But going back to college was definitely something she wasn’t looking forward to, not anymore.
"Found anything?" Theo asked, glancing at her briefly, his voice filtering into her thoughts.
"No." She said, shaking her head slightly. "Is this the footage for today?" She asked.
"No. It’s the one from yesterday. I feel they must have come there at least once or twice to survey the area." Theo explained.
Bethany sighed softly, looking back at the screen. "I suggest we focus on today’s own. If it turns out that there’s something we must have missed or that someone must have informed them, we could always refer to the older footage." She said, looking at him.
"You’re right," Theo said, nodding. "Let me pull up the one of today, hopefully, we can get a face and run it through facial recognition." He quipped, already pulling up the footage.
"So this is today’s footage." He said, turning his monitor to her. "Do we watch it together ?" He asked, hope in his voice.
"Mmm. We need to see it differently so I think we should watch it differently." She said tentatively, hoping he understood her and didn’t see her as dumb for rejecting a chance to increase the proximity that they both craved.
"Yeah. That’s...true." He said quietly, turning the monitor to face him.
"I’m airdropping the footage to your computer now. See it?" He asked, looking up at her.
"Yeah." She said, clicking on the attachment.
"Alright. You’d see them come in. What we need is not just their faces but an accessory as well. Someone from the inside they could have met. There are so many angles to check though." He explained.
"You can check the first half, while I check the second." He offered.
"Alright." She said, nodding slightly clicking on the play sign in the middle of the screen.
Silence and faint sounds of mouse clicks filled the room as they studied the footage before them with steady scrutinizing gazes.
Bethany was about to yawn when something caught her eyes causing to urge to die almost immediately. She leaned forward, closer to the monitor, her eyes narrowed as she tried to make out the person’s face that couldn’t help but seem familiar.
The figure spoke to someone who looked too rugged to be in a place as fragile as the Chocolate Palace.
She had seen that physique somewhere, but couldn’t place where.
’Just a little stir. That’s all I need.’ She thought to herself, her eyes narrowing further as her attention was piqued, more than ready to recognize the figure as soon as she got a perfect side profile.
"Why do you look so tense?" Theo asked, pausing his own footage, his eyebrows furrowed. When he didn’t get any reply or glance, he couldn’t help but rush to her side as quietly as he could, taking in the scene before her.
"That person," She said, pointing to the man in a black top and leather pants. "His physique is very familiar. Like I had seen him somewhere. I just need him to stir a little so I can see his side profile." She explained, very focused, but not focused enough to ignore the heat his body emitted.
"That wouldn’t be necessary." Theo clipped, his voice distant but heavy.
"Why would you say so? I need that to know who he is." Bethany pointed.
"He looks familiar because he is Samuel. The guy who led us out."
