Fated to the Alpha's Sons: An Omegas Rise to Fame-Chapter 91: Warehouse.
Chapter 91: Warehouse.
Bethany scurried to the kitchen before he could make a jump at her, cursing him.
She ran her fingers on the shiny large marble table top, that sat in the middle of his perfectly sized L-shaped kitchen. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
She hadn’t had the time to admire the place when they came in earlier, but from where she stood, everywhere looked so..warm.
Too warm it didn’t look like Theo at all. Not because he was an executioner, but because, it didn’t seem like him to own such a place littered with photos of trees, shrubs, flowing rivers and soft animals; all taken during sunset.
The warmth emanating from them made the dark brown-themed house feel warmer than it should.
Sighing, she turned back to the kitchen, deciding to get to work. Everyone had left to carry out their parts, she had to do hers as well.
She headed to his built-in refrigerator, pulling it open, and shaking her head when she found it completely empty except for a bottle of red wine.
She took it out, shut the refrigerator and placed it on the counter. Deciding to check the cupboards, she began opening them one by one. Each contained different kitchen utensils, simple ones and very complicated ones she didn’t even bother thinking about.
When she got to the last one, she tugged on it, like she did the others, but it didn’t open. With furrowed eyebrows, she tugged harder on it letting some of her werewolf strength seep in, pulling it from the hinges, opening it completely with a loud noise, her eyes widening as she took in the contents of the previously sealed cupboard.
Wads of cash, five guns and some black cases she could only assume where extra bullets sat in the cupboard.
She looked utterly confused as to why he’d put such things in the kitchen.
"What happened?" Tristan said coming beside her, Troy trailing him. Theo’s stomping feet could be heard climbing up the metal basement stairs.
"Uh .. I was searching for any groceries to cook with, then came across this one. I tugged on it like every other one, but it didn’t open. I thought it was stuck, I didn’t know it was sealed." She explained, lifting the torn-out door in her hand.
"Here, let me have that," Troy said coming up to take the piece of wood as soon as he saw the nails on them.
"I guess you found my stash," Theo said, standing behind his brothers, hands in his pockets.
"I’m sorry for ruining your cupboard. I was looking for what to cook with." Bethany apologized.
"It’s okay. I can just move them somewhere else. I don’t have any groceries though. Just numerous bottles of wine." He said in a bored tone.
"I only found one," Bethany said, motioning to the bottle that sat on the tabletop.
"That one’s poisoned. Put it there for thieves, or anyone who might try to invade my property." He said, leaving everyone dumbfounded.
"What?" He asked as everyone looked at him in shock.
"You didn’t think to tell us your cabin was filled with booby traps!" Troy said, now very pissed. "What if she’d taken a sip of your concussion ?!"
"I have the antidote, and I really didn’t mean no harm. My head wasn’t in the right place, so I didn’t remember to let anyone know." He tried to explain, even though he understood where his brothers were coming from. Plus he’d shouted at Troy earlier for being in his head. Now he has made the same mistake.
"Well, you have to bring it back because we almost killed the person we are trying to protect." Tristan said, taking the reins of the conversation in his hands.
He hates that he always has to be the buffer between them, but someone has to be, someone like him.
Bethany stood before them, watching them handle each other, like actual humans and not Alphas’ or leaders. Just people.
They were talking about Theo almost killing her, while she thought about how she could get used to being in their midst while they argued about tons of stuff.
"I’m sorry, Princess." Theo said, peering at her.
Bethany couldn’t help but feel like his apology was way deeper than he could admit. It made her sad.
"There’s nothing to be sorry for. I didn’t drink it, and neither did any of you. Besides, I wasn’t going drink it alone, you were all going to join me." She said simply, her eyes clear so he could see that she held no grudges.
"Thank you." Theo said, releasing a sigh of relief.
"Yeah. So I have to help the surveillance right?" She asked Troy since he was the one that gave her the task.
"Yes, Princess." Troy said softly.
"Yes? You gave her a task? We are doing perfectly fine?" Theo tried to argue.
"So you don’t want me helping you?" Bethany asked, her tone had changed.
"No, Princess. It’s not...That wasn’t what I meant. I just thought you wanted to know what was going on, not actively engage." He explained earnestly.
"Well, now you know how about we get to work then." She said plainly, her eyes on her mate.
Establishing the fact that she wasn’t gonna be some weak Barbie who would sit and watch them do all the difficult work, had proven to not just be gruesome to her head, but to her heart as well.
Either way, she had to keep pushing. If her mates didn’t see her as strong and capable, there was no way the other members of the pack were going to see her as capable.
"Alright," Theo said. "I’ll lead the way." He said, walking back down the hallway he came from, Bethany trailing behind him.
She had to show them just how capable she was, no matter how small.
He led her to the wall at the end of the hallway which opened to them as he placed his hand in the middle.
Behind the wall was dark, but she managed to see because of her keen eyesight, stepping in behind him, the door shutting behind her.
"Hold onto the railing." Theo admonished as they walked down the metal staircase into the basement that lit up upon their arrival, thousands of boxes and stuff she couldn’t identify on display.
"This place serves as a warehouse for some of our secret and important supplies." He chimed, heading further into the basement. "And this is my station." He said stopping at a huge office, whose walls were made of glass she could bet was not just soundproof but bulletproof.
Three large screens displaying various footage sat on his large metal desk with different documents scattered across it. A black leather seat that looked really comfortable sat behind the desk, while a smaller, not-so-comfortable-looking ones were placed at different positions in the room.
"It’s comfortable." She said, not knowing what other words to describe the place that looked simple and yet felt..cold.
"Glad you think so." He said, walking into the office, going behind the desk, his fingers flying so fast across his rainbow keyboard she couldn’t keep up.
"I gathered as much footage as I could before they could get to it, so we’re going to look through each of them from this morning till the time they were neutralized which was..." He drawled checking his wristwatch. "Two hours ago." He said, looking up at her.
"Can you do that?" He asked. "It can be a very excruciatingly boring task. You could check out the basement either- even though you might not like the things you’d see, but that’s far more interesting than this." He advised, shrugging his shoulders slightly.
"No." She said without thinking. Somehow, just somehow she’d imagined he’d pull this card. Glad she was prepared. "I’d rather watch footage than snoop around your basement, thank you." She said, calmly, going to sit on the seat just in front of the desk.
Theo smiled a bit at her response, shaking his head. "Whatever you want, Princess." He cooed, earning a short nod and tight-lipped smile from her.
"Here." He said, turning a screen to face her, placing a mouse and its pad beside it. Going around the table, he came to stand behind her, practically towering over her, the back of her head, leaning on his tough chiseled abs as his scent invaded not just her nostrils but her mind as well, causing heat to course through her due to their proximity.
She swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat, forcing herself to concentrate on the display before her.
"You know we never got to finish our alone day. And I couldn’t carry out my other plans." Theo said in a very deep voice, practically placing another lump in her throat for her to swallow, as she tried to imagine what other plans he had made.
"What plans?" She couldn’t help but voice. Her silence was going to mean he was getting to her, and she didn’t want to give him that satisfaction- yet.
"Plans you’d have to wait to find out soon, Princess." He bellowed, looking down at her, staring into her eyes that couldn’t help but look up to him, need and curiosity swirling in them.
"All set. You can begin." He said, leaning away, their bodies and wolves whining about their sudden proximity reduction.
"Just search for something suspicious, something unusual, something too recurrent to be normal and let me know." He said leaning down slowly till his head got to the crook of her neck, kissing on the part his mark was going to sit one day, sending shivers through her.
"Good luck, Princess." He whispered, going back around to sit opposite her, the look on his face couldn’t be any less sly.
Asshole.
