Chapter 144: The Moonwillow guests

In no time at all, guests were arriving from all around the various packs of the werewolf world to stay at the High Tower for the ceremony of the supreme Luna in three days, none of whom knew anything about her beyond the fact that she was from the North Pack.

North Pack? Which of the she-wolves there was the lucky one? And why wasn’t her name included in the cards sent out to invite them? Many asked these questions, though some had already convinced themselves they had the answer.

Rumors were already circulating that the chosen she-wolf was none other than Ember, the princess of the North Pack and the best candidate from that pack, as there was no one else they knew from there who was worthy of the position.

In the minds of many of the arriving guests, they firmly believed the she-wolf to be Ember, and so many who came from lower packs or who wanted to get close to the future supreme Luna made mental notes to form friendship alliances with her.

Furthermore, Viola, who was the real future Luna, barely left her penthouse to mingle with anyone or even went out to meet the guests, so technically none of the arriving guests knew of her existence or the fact that she was the future supreme Luna.

The North Pack people arrived an hour earlier than the Moonwillow pack, so before Evan and his mate and the Beta family landed in the impossibly beautiful Silver, Ember had already unpacked her things in her given room and was looking around the building with her omega maids close at hand, marveling at the beauty and luxury of the Silver Pack.

Truth be told, she had no idea who the future supreme Luna actually was, and yet everyone around her was telling her that she came from the North Pack, and people were even coming to pay her their respects, calling her supreme Luna. She had even received countless gifts that have pilled up the bed of her room from unknown werewolves. All of this had led Ember to begin wondering, could it be that she was indeed the chosen one and that this was all an elaborate surprise arranged for her?

For months now she had been unable to overcome the sting of the fact that the supreme Alpha had turned her down, despite her having been so confident that she was the one for him and having trained all her life for that very position.

Ember had been bitter and angry until the special invitation arrived, confusing her entire family, as they hadn’t put anyone from their pack forward to the Alpha, so who was he crowning from the North Pack? 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

They had been thoroughly confused and utterly baffled until they landed in this impossibly grand building, where guests began to crowd around Ember and called her the future supreme Luna, confirming her suspicion about a surprise wedding for her.

Ember hadn’t yet met the Alpha, but she was moving through the building in hopes of running into him so she could tell him how grateful she was for his surprise. He had chosen her but hadn’t told her until three days before their wedding, even sending his private jet to bring her and her parents here.

It was such an utter surprise that Ember hadn’t even bought a dress, though she had heard some whispers that the Alpha’s sister, Zoe, whom she had only ever had the honor of buying designs from online but had never met in person, was already designing a wedding dress for her.

Ember couldn’t believe how much the moon goddess was on her side, granting her another opportunity to prove herself to the supreme Alpha who had so ruthlessly insulted her and turned her down when she had offered him her body. Her expression soured slightly at the thought that she should have been given a heads up about these wedding arrangements.

If they had given her a heads up, she would have arrived on time to get acquainted with the people who would soon become part of her new family and to get to know her husband-to-be. She was so annoyed that she wanted to take out her frustration on some incompetent omega, but every single omega worker she had come across along the hallways was smooth and efficient in the work of receiving the newly arriving guests and leading them to their arranged rooms.

Ember walked down to the lobby to see if she would be lucky enough to meet some of the Kade family members, who had not yet come to give her a special welcome despite the fact that she would soon be joining their family. However, she was pleasantly surprised to find new guests walking in through the automatic motion sensor sliding doors of the lobby.

Ember’s eyes brightened and she quickly composed herself, straightening her back to appear regal and authoritative before she walked over to welcome this particular group of guests. After all, she had promised them a good position months ago and had also given her word to mend the feud between them and this pack.

---

Evan, who had landed in the Silver Pack just a few minutes ago, couldn’t believe the grandeur of the pack, or the high level of technology and the magnificence of their buildings. He had never seen anything quite like it before, and not even all the pictures he had studied and looked through had prepared him for this.

However, being an Alpha with authority and pride, he barely let his awe and envy show in his expression. He kept his face neutral as he held his mate around the waist and followed the guard who had escorted them from the jet and was now leading them into the building.

Noticing that Leni was letting her awe show and was acting like a country bumpkin at the entrance doors that slid open for them as though they could sense their presence, he tightened his arm around her and whispered,

"School your expression, pet, don’t let anyone see that this is our first time entering the Silver Pack. Act like this is the norm for us. No matter how much our pack has been struggling, don’t let them look down on us."

Evan was not going to let his ego and pride be trampled on, and his mate’s expression would do exactly that if people saw just how far behind their pack had fallen because the supreme Alpha had refused to forgive them until now.

After the moon festival months ago, Evan had not granted any werewolves a pass to enter his territory, for that event had already taken so much from him that he needed the supreme Alpha’s support to recover. And until he had recovered and put his pack back in order, he wouldn’t give anyone a reason to mock his pack and its members.

Evan walked into the building with the air of someone who had been there a dozen times before, his handsome expression relaxed and unbothered. They were about to move deeper into the building when the supposed future supreme Luna herself walked up to them, smiling welcomingly, and Evan decided to play the part of a very important guest even more convincingly so that everyone around them would see that he was on familiar terms with her.

"Welcome, welcome," Ember greeted delightedly as she stepped forward and hugged Leni, exchanging light cheek kisses, and then shook Evan’s hand before greeting Beta Eliot and his family warmly. "I hope your journey here wasn’t too stressful?"

Evan waved his hand in dismissal. "Not at all, future supreme Luna. We had a very enjoyable ride here, and it was all thanks to your generosity in asking the supreme Alpha to bring us here on a private jet." He said, raising his voice just slightly so that the other guests entering around them could hear and see that he and his people had received a very special invitation and a great deal of attention. That would teach them all a lesson not to mess with him for he had the backing of the future supreme Luna.

In the two days leading up to this moment, Evan had already assured his pack members that everything would be fine again, and that by the time he returned to Moonwillow, the supreme Alpha would be sending them back with many things that had been withheld from their pack, that everyone would at least receive working supplies and basic necessities. Evan was determined to make that possible, even if it meant currying favors with the beautiful and generous Ember, who was not the kind of woman to forget her promises!
