Fated love: the unwanted bride-Chapter 2163: I Said No, So It’s No
It felt like a century had passed.
Sylvan Cheney frowned tightly as Jasmine Yale finally spoke again, "President, maybe I should leave first."
"Okay."
Sylvan Cheney’s face showed no expression, his deep and mysterious features as usual.
Jasmine Yale lowered her head and saw the huge pile of documents that Kade Yuvan had delivered, stacking up like small hills on Sylvan Cheney’s desk.
Jasmine Yale cherished this time working with him, a unique memory.
In the past, he rarely even took her to the Cheney Group, let alone talked to her about work matters.
But now, they had common topics to discuss, projects, collaborations, finances.
She loved this job and cherished it dearly.
But six months later, nothing could be certain.
Thinking of this, Jasmine Yale’s gaze lingered on these files for a long time.
"President, those gifts of yours..."
"I don’t want them," Sylvan Cheney sorted through the documents.
"You’ll suffer losses," she said lightly, "I’ve calculated all those things, converted to US Dollars, it’s about..."
"When I say I don’t want them, I don’t want them. Jasmine Yale, aren’t you annoying?!"
"One minute you want it, the next you don’t. President, if today you don’t, and tomorrow you come asking for it, what am I supposed to do?"
"You can leave now."
Jasmine Yale widened her eyes at him; they hadn’t even exchanged more than a couple of sentences before he started to drive her away.
Well, fine.
Jasmine Yale didn’t plan to say much more, calmly saying, "Goodbye."
Saying that, she turned around and left with her bag.
The door to the president’s office closed.
Sylvan Cheney sat at the desk, his hands suddenly halting in motion.
Sunlight shone through the windows onto the desk, with colorful light making his stern features a bit softer.
The milk in the cup emitted a white mist, carrying a sweet aroma.
Sylvan Cheney raised his hand and took the cup.
He usually didn’t like drinking fresh milk, but after taking a sip, it felt... not bad.
Under the sunlight, the cup shimmered with a fresh gloss.
Sylvan Cheney stood up, walked with his long legs to the window, hands in his trouser pockets, his deep gaze looking out.
The towering buildings stood, autumn was endless.
The sky was an endless blue, the sunlight enveloping the city, casting a shimmering golden light on the tiles and tall trees.
After Jasmine Yale left, Kade Yuvan brought over a few more reports to Sylvan Cheney.
There were quarterly financial statements and project progress reports; Sylvan Cheney’s desk piled higher and higher.
"President, if you really need to drink tonight, remember to have some hangover tea. If you get drunk, call me, I’ll pick you up," Kade Yuvan said. "President, considering your health... you really shouldn’t go out drinking."
"It’s fine," Sylvan Cheney said expressionlessly.
"Should I pick a few colleagues from the secretary department to go with you?"
"Not needed."
Kade Yuvan knew that Sylvan Cheney was always firm in his work decisions, and he didn’t dare to persuade further.
"Then, President, I’ll return to my office. Don’t forget to take your medicine."
"Okay."
Kade Yuvan left, and the office returned to silence.
Sylvan Cheney wanted a cigarette, found a lighter from the storage box, habitually ready to light one up when Jasmine Yale’s voice suddenly echoed in his mind: Have you ever thought, if something happens to you, someone would be sad?
Sylvan Cheney’s hand paused.
After a long while, he threw the lighter back into the storage box, not lighting a cigarette. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
