Farming with Entries: From Lord to Emperor-Chapter 566 - 284: Robbers Can Do As They Please
...
...
The morning breeze carried the fresh scent of soil and the fragrance of wildflowers, sweeping over the winding mountain path in the wilderness.
On the dusty dirt road, the caravan from the Red Griffin Family stretched like a long dragon, slowly advancing.
The eight wagons were loaded with herbs, seeds, spices, materials for crafting bows and arrows, and various southern specialties, causing the wheels to creak under the weight.
Beside the wagons, fully armed soldiers marched, with the Red Griffin family crest emblazoned on the armor chests. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
At the rear of the convoy followed hundreds of listless slaves, feebly wielding whips to drive the pack horses.
"Stop and rest!"
Sao raised his hand to signal and commanded loudly.
"Yes, Lord Sao."
The messenger nodded in response and quickly ran to the back of the convoy to relay the order.
"Everyone, rest in place and stay alert!"
As the shout fell, the coachmen immediately tightened the reins, and the soldiers also halted, sitting down on the ground.
Meanwhile, the guards responsible for vigilance took down shields from the wagons, patrolling watchfully on both sides of the caravan.
"Why are we stopping?"
A stout figure with a glaring gaze angrily approached Sao,
"I see the map shows we’re about to enter Baron Rod’s Black Pine Ridge!"
"Master Senda, the soldiers need rest to maintain their strength."
Sao patiently explained, "Don’t worry, the soldiers will eat something and drink some water, then we’ll continue forward."
"You all are really dawdling!"
Senda complained irritably, "Ever since entering this Eagle Ridge, you’ve been stalling, wasting too much time!"
"You’re not worried, but I am!"
"If you dawdle any longer, I’ll go on my own!"
"Apologies, Master Senda, I can’t allow you to go alone."
With a rarely seen smile on his face, Sao responded warmly, "The Saint Master has instructed me to guarantee your safety, you can only follow the caravan."
"Lord Rod said so?" Senda’s tone rose.
"Yes, specifically instructed."
"Alright then."
Senda sighed reluctantly, "Hurry up and rest!"
With that, Senda took out a pendant embedded with a crystal stone from his chest and casually threw it to Sao.
Before Sao could speak, Senda proactively explained, "It’s a pendant for stamina recovery, when travelling normally it allows you to endure a bit longer than usual."
"Magic items?"
Sao’s eyes widened, "Such a precious item, I can’t accept it, you—you should give it to the Saint Master..."
"Just a failed defective item, take it if you wish."
Senda grumbled, "If you really want to thank me, hurry up and get going, I’m still waiting to see the Yak People."
Senda snorted, ignoring Sao further, and turned back to his own wagon.
Watching his back, the usually stern Sao couldn’t help but shake his head with a wry smile.
This master is actually quite nice, doesn’t have much of an air.
Just has a bad temper, can’t leave a good impression even when doing good deeds.
After Senda left, Sao waved to his deputy beside him and asked softly,
"No news yet?"
"Lord, you’ve already asked me three times..."
The deputy replied softly, "If there’s news, you’ll hear it just as I do..."
"My mistake, I lack patience."
Sao sighed silently, "It’s my first time being bait, somewhat unaccustomed."
"Lord, forgive my ignorance."
The deputy couldn’t help but ask softly, "Since the lord guessed everything, why doesn’t the reinforcement directly come to guard the caravan and intimidate those enemies?"
"Perhaps the Saint Master needs more slaves for work?"
Sao frowned slightly but ultimately shook his head, "The Saint Master’s thoughts aren’t something we can fathom."
"Coo, coo, coo..."
The melodious bird calls echoed from the forest, Sao suddenly straightened his chest, listening attentively.
Two short, one long, the rhythmic bird calls sounded three times, Sao immediately looked at his deputy,
"Did you hear it?"
"Inform everyone, prepare for battle!"
Sao urgently ordered in a low voice.
The deputy nodded, took the knights beside him, and quickly went to various teams, quietly ordering,
"Prepare for battle!"
"Quick, get your gear!"
"The enemy is arriving soon!"
...
The caravan guards seemed ready, standing up without any surprise, gathering toward the convoy.
"Break’s over, move forward again."
With Sao’s order, the coachmen cracked their whips, and the convoy began slowly advancing.
But attentive observers could see the soldiers forming a long line, staying no more than a step beside the wagons.
In the rear slave team, some had their heads down, quietly observing the forest on either side of the road.
"Coo! Coo! Coo!"
"Enemy attack!"
Sao shrieked, and the soldiers swiftly pulled off the tarp from the wagons, standing rows of half-man-high square shields neatly on each side!
Without hesitation, the soldiers immediately placed the square shields at their front, swiftly forming a shield wall!
The next instant, hundreds of figures suddenly emerged from the undergrowth in the forest, several feathered arrows piercing through the air!
"Clang clang clang!"
Like rain, the arrows all hit the shields!
The following instant, shouts of killing erupted like thunder!
Hundreds of figures tore away their robes, revealing gleaming armor as they charged at the caravan like ferocious tigers from either side!
"Kill all the guards!"
"Kill!"
With savagery, the soldiers full of murderous intent rushed toward the caravan like wolves pouncing on sheep!
Just then, sharp long spears suddenly protruded from behind the square shields, instantly stabbing into the ambushing soldiers’ bodies!
Though not knights, the caravan guards this time were elite troops from the Red Griffin Family.
Each team coordinated seamlessly, especially adept at defensive battles.
The enemy soldiers couldn’t approach for the moment, and sought breakthroughs from both sides instead.
