Chapter 138: Reunion

The flying ship slowed down, descending silently behind a forest a few miles from the city. Feng Yun activated its stealth runes once more, making sure no one noticed their arrival. After storing the ship inside the storage, they set off on foot toward the main gate.

When they entered the city gates, they noticed that Maple Leaf City hadn’t changed much. The streets were still crowded, with merchants shouting and children running about. But Feng Yun could feel a faint difference in the atmosphere—the cultivators seemed more numerous, and the guards were stricter.

"It seems the city has grown stronger," Wang Ruo remarked softly.

Feng Yun nodded. "That’s good. It means the Feng Clan hasn’t fallen behind."

They made their way through the bustling streets, drawing glances as they passed. Wang Ruo, with her grace and beauty, naturally caught attention, while Feng Yun’s calm and sharp bearing made people instinctively step aside.

Before long, the grand gate of the Feng Clan Mansion appeared before them. The tall red doors were carved with dragon and sword motifs, guarded by two armoured disciples.

Feng Yun paused, gazing at the gate for a long moment.

One of the guards, a young disciple, noticed them and stepped forward. "This is the Feng Clan’s private estate. Strangers are not—"

But he stopped mid-sentence as Feng Yun raised his head, and their eyes met. The young man froze.

The guard stammered, his eyes widening. "You... Young Master Feng Yun?!"

The second guard turned sharply, shock spreading across his face. "It is really, young master."

Feng Yun smiled faintly. "Yes, it’s me."

A moment later, both guards dropped to one knee in excitement. "We greet Young Master Yun!"

Previously, Feng Yun saved the entire clan from the eve of destruction, saving many lives. From then, his status has surpassed everyone in the clan, even higher than the patriarch.

Furthermore, Feng Yun donated many treasures to the clan, raising everyone’s strength.

The commotion quickly spread inside. Within moments, several elders and disciples rushed out of the gate, led by a tall, middle-aged man with streaks of silver in his hair — Feng Bai, the current clan head and Feng Yun’s father.

"Yun’er!" Feng Xiao’s usually calm face broke into a wide smile of relief and disbelief. "You returned!"

"Father, elders," Feng Yun greeted warmly, cupping his hands.

The older man laughed heartily and clapped his shoulder. "Good, good! You’ve grown so much stronger since the last time I saw you! Your aura... It’s deeper than I can even sense it now!"

The gathered disciples looked at Feng Yun with awe and admiration. From the brink of annihilation, the Feng Clan has become the number one clan in Maple Leaf City; it was thanks to Feng Yun.

Even the city lord assigned by the Azure Dragon Kingdom gives respect.

Next, Feng Bai pulled Feng Yun to his courtyard alone to talk, while Wang Ruo went to see her mother.

...

"Not bad, old man; you and the elders have reached the Soul Refining Realm." Feng Yun saw through the cultivation of Feng Bai and said. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Before leaving, he left behind many treasures for his old man and other elders of the clan. The result was satisfying; they reached the Soul Refining Realm, especially Feng Bai, who has reached the eighth layer of the Soul Refining Realm.

"Haha... don’t underestimate your old man. My talent is top-notch in my generation in the Maple Leaf City; I just lack resources." Feng Bai laughed and said.

At this time, Feng Yun and his father were sitting alone in the study room of his father. Feng Yun was sharing his life experience with his father.

Feng Yun hid a few things. It would only make him anxious.

Feng Yun and his father talked for hours.

His arrival causes a great deal of joyous celebration in the clan. Feeling glad, Feng Yun also distributed some gifts.

"Okay, you should go and take some rest; we can chat tomorrow." Feng Yun’s father said while sending him away.

"Hmm!" Feng Yun nodded.

Soon, Feng Yun arrived at his courtyard.

"Hmm, she is here."

Feng Yun smiled faintly as he detected a familiar aura from inside his house.

Inside his house...

A woman was sitting quietly on the couch, legs crossed gracefully, sipping tea from a porcelain cup. The warm candlelight traced the curve of her slender figure, illuminating the soft sheen of her raven-black hair.

She turned slowly as the door opened.

"You’re finally home."

Her voice carried a mild teasing warmth.

Feng Yun stepped inside and closed the door behind him. "Aunt Shixin."

She stood, smoothing her robe out of habit, though there was nothing messy about it. Her expression shifted—half reproach, half affection.

"Hmph. Do you know how long it’s been? No letters, no messages... all I heard were wild rumors about your adventures..." She took a step closer, voice softening. "You made us all worried."

Feng Yun smiled.

"I missed you too."

Li Shixin paused, a slight redness colouring her cheeks. "Still as shameless as ever... saying things like that so naturally."

But her voice trembled. He could see it—the relief in her eyes, the warmth in her stance, the closeness she tried to hide but failed to.

He stepped closer, closing the distance between them."Aunt, not bad, you’ve grown stronger."

She raised a brow. "I could say the same about you. Your aura... it feels like standing beside a mountain." She lightly poked his chest, as if testing whether he was real. "You really have grown."

Feng Yun stepped forward and hugged her into his arms and spoke, "Aunt, along with cultivation, you are also becoming more beautiful."

His voice was low and calm, yet filled with an unhidden affection that struck straight through her guards.

For a moment, her composure wavered. This woman, known for her mature elegance and steady temper, suddenly found her heart beating too fast.

She wrapped her hands around his neck, looked into his eyes and said, "So, how many girls’ hearts have been conquered by your sweet tongue and charming face?"

"...Not many?" Feng Yun chuckled.

Her hand slowly lifted and touched his cheek, her thumb brushing lightly across his skin. A small smile bloomed on her lips—warm, nostalgic, and unmistakably intimate.

"Aunt Shixin, are you feeling jealous?" Feng Yun whispered softly.

Li Shixin’s lips curved, but she didn’t look away.

"I’m not jealous," she spoke with a smile, her voice softer than before. "But... I would be lying if I said I didn’t wonder whether you still remembered me."

Feng Yun leaned closer, resting his forehead against hers. His hand slid gently along her waist.

"How could I forget?" he whispered. "The person who cared for me when no one else noticed... who saw me before I became someone worth seeing."

Her breath caught. The room suddenly felt too quiet, too close.

"Yun..." she breathed, her fingers tightening behind his neck."You shouldn’t say things like that."

"Why?" Feng Yun asked softly."Because it makes your heart flutter?"

Her eyelashes trembled—just enough for him to notice.

Before she could answer, Feng Yun pulled her just slightly closer. He captured her lips, continuing to a passionate kiss.

Li Shixin’s defences melted with his kiss as she lost herself in the kiss, hugging him back into her tight embrace.

Feng Yun’s arms tightened around her, warm and steady.
