Chapter 40: 037. Nabil’s Clone.

Unlike the ordinary all-night fishing, Nabil had to return to land after what he had experienced.

At least that’s how he agreed with Zaskia’s choice.

Unfortunately, when the fishing boat was anchored at the shore, they had no vehicle to return to the base.

They would either have to wait until morning, when Galih came to pick them up, or make the long walk carrying a large styrofoam box that wasn’t even full yet.

"Are we really going to walk?" asked Zaskia, who had now taken off the fishy-smelling jacket that had tormented her nose for more than three hours.

Nabil and his clones lifted the styrofoam box filled with fish and ice blocks. "Or we can wait until morning and -"

Zaskia immediately used her system and created a giant hand with blood that she controlled.

A hand made from the blood she had collected from the mermaids she had slaughtered before.

The woman sighed as she rolled her eyes. "Alright, we’re leaving."

Seeing Zaskia’s sudden action, Nabil became a little annoyed. "Why are you carrying it? When we get to the base, they’ll think I didn’t work hard enough."

"Tsk, shut up you weakling, if you drop these fish, I’ll be the one scolded by Mr. Johan," retorted Zaskia who didn’t seem to care at all.

Although somewhat annoyed, Nabil couldn’t do anything about it. The system he used did not help at all in the fight and even his physical strength was almost no different from the user of (Enchantment system).

A useful system? Perhaps Galih had a point. His system was more suitable as a mob system.

But what could he do? He could only resign himself to a low hierarchical position even though technically, Nabil was a user of ( mutant system ).

Finally, they walked through the dark street with the help of a medium-sized flashlight, whose light could only illuminate 10 meters away.

It was as quiet as any other day. There was no sign of humans or civilization.

But as they got closer to their base, the atmosphere felt a little...

Gripping....

The quiet atmosphere that they usually didn’t care about now felt odd. The air felt heavy and colder than usual.

Not the usual chill due to the night air temperature, but another kind of chill...

Something else...

Something more...

Mystical...

Nabil’s lips began to turn pale and his eyes kept looking around. It felt like someone was watching them.

"Zaskia, I think something’s strange," Nabil said with slightly trembling lips.

"Huh?!" Zaskia who was walking in the front immediately turned around and looked at Nabil and his clones who were trembling in fear.

Zaskia raised one of her eyebrows and raised her tone of voice. "What are you talking about? You’re a man! Stop shaking like that! Not only are you the weakest, you’re also the most cowardly! You’re completely useless."

Nabil and his clones immediately became angry. "Huh?! Just because you’re stronger, doesn’t means you’re better!"

"Then be a man and stop complaining already!" Zaskia retorted angrily.

Nabil and his clones could only stay silent after hearing that.

They couldn’t fight back but at the same time they didn’t want to be humiliated by Zaskia. Finally, their fear was now replaced by anger.

’You think you can be braver than me just because your system is better than mine?!’ thought Nabil who instantly became brave.

But there was one thing that Nabil didn’t know...

Zaskia was not braver than Nabil at all...

’You idiot! You don’t need to remind me! I also know that the atmosphere is very tense right now!’ Zaskia shouted in her mind.

Behind her upright posture and serious face....

In reality...

Zaskia was terrified....

’AAAAAAAAAAA! PLEASE DON’T SHOW UP! GHOST, DEMON, WHATEVER YOU ARE, DON’T SHOW UP!’ Zaskia screamed in her mind.

After a long journey, they finally arrived at their base. There was no interference from ghosts, demons, and even wild animals.

But what greeted them was an atmosphere that was so depressing.

Galih, who had been talking with Adit, now saw Zaskia and Nabil approaching. He immediately walked towards them with a hint of surprise.

"Why are you guys back so soon, what’s wrong?" Galih asked.

"We were attacked by some mermaids," Zaskia answered easily as if it was a normal thing.

"Mermaids? You met a mermaid?" asked Galih once again, who still couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

"Yep, but unlike the ones in the movies, they’re not charming at all. They’re savage and very aggressive," Zaskia replied.

Galih rubbed his chin and began to imagine the mermaids Zaskia was referring to. "Are they beautiful?"

Zaskia sighed heavily and placed the large styrofoam box on the ground. "Forget it, Nabil’s clones was dragged into the ocean and we could only bring this."

Galih peered into the large box and found fresh fish along with several blocks of ice.

"By the way, what happened while we were gone?" asked Zaskia while pointing at the giant chunk of ice blooming on the roof of the queen’s room.

"An intruder came and he managed to defeat Farel," Galih replied, much to Zaskia and Nabil’s surprise.

"Farel lost?!" Nabil’s mouth and eyes opened wide.

"But how could he?! His system is very strong. He can control the shape of the water and its temperature. How is that possible?" asked Zaskia, who still couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

Galih scratched the back of his head. "I don’t know the details but it looks like he’s using dark sorcery or something magic. For some reason after the big earthquake on that day, many mystical things happened including the mermaid you mentioned."

"What about the queen?!" asked Nabil quickly.

Galih’s facial expression immediately became sullen. He was silent for a few moments then sighed and looked at Nabil.

"Go see Johan now, he’s in the queen’s room. I think he needs you now," Galih said, which made Nabil even more worried.

If he was needed, it meant that there was only one possible situation.

Nabil immediately pulled the hand of one of his clones and rushed to where Johan was.

Nabil looked worried but his clone looked scared. When the two reached the door of the queen’s room, Nabil’s clone stopped on the spot.

"What are you doing?" Nabil asked his clone.

"I don’t want to," replied the clone.

"What do you mean you don’t want to?"

"You want to sacrifice me, right?"

Nabil was surprised but he had no time to argue. He immediately pulled the clone’s hand to force him into the room.

"Nabil, is that you?" asked Johan who was in the room.

"Yes, it’s me!" replied Nabil quickly.

"Good, I need one."

That short sentence immediately made Nabil’s clone shiver with fear.

"What are you doing! Come with me!" shouted Nabil who was trying desperately to drag his clone inside.

"No! No! I don’t want to!" the clone immediately pushed Nabil inside with all its strength and made Nabil sit on the floor.

Nabil, who was sitting on the floor, looked at his clone standing in front of him.

Before he could speak, Johan immediately dragged Nabil in....

Not the clone....
