Chapter 267: Under the Rain of Miasmic Poison. Part-2.

*Pitter* *Patter*

Crystals of miasmic poison fell from the sky along with liquid poison; it was as if an apocalypse was happening.

The sky was dark, covered with clouds, and the ground was filled with poison and muddy filth corrupted with miasma.

The wind was nonexistent, and poisonous gases were densely filling the area.

The scenery was so horrific that it could be mistaken for some layer of hell that has appeared on earth.

’It’s a lot more detailed than in the game...’

Every time Jareth explored new places, this was the first thought that always came to his mind.

’And I don’t like this detailed version... the version in the game was much cuter and less deadly... Here it’s almost like a world-ending apocalypse...’

*BOOM!* *BOOOM!!*

Miasmic poison crystals were hitting Jareth’s mana shield with a speed faster than sound, and the collision was creating massive shockwaves every time a new crystal hit and shattered.

It was almost as if Jareth was being bombarded by a machine gun with unlimited bullets; all those attacks were powerful and extremely deadly.

’I wouldn’t have dared to come to this place if I didn’t have ’Mana Singularity’, no matter what reward I was promised....’

This place is simply way too unforgiving; it’s trying to do its absolute best to kill Jareth on the spot and stop him from advancing.

If just one of those raining crystals hit Jareth’s body, he would have to spend tremendous amounts of mana to purify the miasmic poison that would spread in his body with incredible speed.

Even if he has a body that is stronger than most knights in this world, he still can’t endure such a powerful poison being injected into his body.

’No wonder Luche likes to live in this kind of place...’

Luche is a half-fairy and a half-succubus; not only does she have immense resistance against miasma because of her ’fairy’ bloodline, but she’s also immune to poison because of her ’succubus’ bloodline.

Moreover, she has a massive mana pool along with ’Wood Magic’ that is so powerful that if she uses her magic to summon trees, they can even absorb this miasmic poison as their nutrients.

’Zion will likely also be able to wander in this place unharmed with his light magic and his power sword’s protection.... And there’s no need to talk about Konda either, as that thing was almost unkillable...’

While walking through that apocalyptic environment, Jareth was thinking about various things in his mind.

And he found it quite amusing that all three of the endgame bosses were such overpowered people that they could survive these horrific places easily.

’If only I had a sword similar to Zion’s...’

Zion sword, the ’Sword of Salvation, Astra,’ is a very powerful weapon, and it gives very powerful blessings to its user.

It can make Zion immune to poison, mental damage, miasma, corruption, and many other types of debuffs in its fully manifested state.

The main reason why Jareth was able to fight Zion toe-to-toe the last time was because he didn’t unsheathe his sword and retreated instead.

The battle between Jareth and Zion at that time was a battle of ’ideologies,’ and he can only manifest ’Astra’ for a short while.

Moreover, he was cautious against Jareth using the ’attack card’ for the second time.

He surely would have unsheathed ’Astra’ if Jareth had tried to use a second attack enhancement card.

*AURRRRUUUURRRR*

Just when Jareth was busy thinking about various things in his mind, a weird screeching sound entered his ears.

He glanced to the right and noticed a weird shadowy creature crawling on the muddy filth in the distance.

Jareth narrowed his eyes, as he knew what that weird creature was.

’A lost wanderer...’

Jareth shook his head and didn’t stop at all and continued walking forward.

*KEREKEKEEEERRREEE*

The creature was screaming with a weird noise, but Jareth completely ignored it.

Its screeching noise carried a very weird power, and Jareth felt that he was feeling sympathy in his heart, and the thoughts of helping the creature came into his head.

’Annoying...’

[Basic Magic: Rational Mind!]

Jareth immediately used his mana to cast a basic spell that he had only recently learned.

’Rational Mind’ is a rare type of basic spell, and there are barely any records of it left; it’s very difficult to learn, but Jareth managed to make it work with his powerful learning ability.

This spell needs powerful mana control, as it works directly on your own mind and can easily do permanent damage to your brain if you don’t use it correctly.

Many mages even consider this spell a ’forbidden technique,’ as those who try to learn it often end up destroying their own mind.

Despite being a basic-level spell, barely any magicians learn it, and as a result, there are nearly no records left of it.

This spell helps in calming your emotions and keeping you rational no matter the situation.

’Good thing I managed to learn this spell before challenging this area...’

Jareth already knew that he might have to face ’mental attacks’ that might cause him to lose control of his emotions; that’s why he had made sure to learn this spell before coming here.

’I was going to ignore you... but you forced me to do this...’

Jareth raised his finger towards the distant shadowy figure and used a very small amount of mana to cast magic.

[Grade-7 Fire Magic: Flame Beam!]

Although it was just the lowest level of flame magic, it was boosted with the effects of Jareth’s various skills and talents, and thus its power was already as strong as grade-3 magic.

A small magic circle appeared in front of Jareth’s finger and fired a dark purple flame beam at the shadowy figure in the distance.

The shadowy figure didn’t even have the chance to react and was hit in the head directly. Its head burst apart like a watermelon being hit by a bullet.

*Boom!* *SPLURT!!*

Corrupted brain matter spilled everywhere, and the mysterious curse-like power that was trying to assault Jareth’s mind disappeared instantly.

Jareth shook his head and moved forward again.

’Let’s hope that I won’t encounter more of them...’

It’s not that Jareth is afraid of these creatures; it’s just that he doesn’t want to get entangled here and waste his precious time on these things.

When you are already getting pressured by continuous miasmic poison bombardment and your mana shield is already consuming tremendous amounts of mana, it’s better to not pick up unnecessary fights.

’Moreover, I do not want to see those ugly creatures...’

Just thinking about these creatures’ actual image, Jareth felt nauseous.
