Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Sabotaged her dress

Li Shao gripped the railings tightly, his knuckles turning white.

Some of the candidates started to laugh and mock the woman on stage.

"What kind of design is that?"

"It looks like trash!" freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"Is she playing the fool with the judges?"

"Oh my god, it’s so hideous! Did she make it out of scraps?"

In her seat, Bai Qianhua pretended to be shocked. Secretly, she was laughing and smiling in her heart.

You’re going to lose for sure! Just wait and see how the judges kick you out!

Qin Zhuzhu looked at the dress she had made. The surprise in her eyes faded as she regained her composure. The corners of her red lips lifted into a beautiful smile.

She walked over to the dress. One of the judges rose from his seat.

"Miss, what is this?! Isn’t this just a bunch of rags?!"

The dress Qin Zhuzhu had created was cut here and there, with many holes. It seemed as though someone had used scissors to poke holes in it. The red skirt was cut into shreds, hanging loosely from the bodice. It looked terrible.

"Get down from there! You’re bringing disgrace to the fashion industry! Stop wasting our precious time with your rubbish! If you can’t do it, then don’t! Stay away from this industry from now on!" someone in the audience shouted at her.

"Yeah!"

"Yeah!"

Others seemed to follow suit. Qin Zhuzhu remained calm and collected. Li Shao looked at the dress. It was obviously sabotaged by someone, but no one seemed to care about that fact.

He was about to step down from where he stood when Qin Zhuzhu suddenly said, "Everyone! Please give me twenty minutes! In twenty minutes, I will transform this piece of rag into a fairytale!"

The audience and judges started murmuring again. The room grew noisy.

"You’ve wasted enough of our time! You should just leave since you’re not capable!" the same person shouted.

"And how do you know I’m not capable if you don’t let me try?" Qin Zhuzhu raised an eyebrow.

"All I ask is twenty minutes of our esteemed judges’ and audience’s time. If, after twenty minutes, I’m not done, I will certainly quit this industry and never step foot in it again!"

Her bold announcement caused everyone to gasp and glance at each other. She was taking the initiative to leave on her own if she failed.

"If twenty minutes isn’t enough, you’ll probably ask for more. Why should we believe you?! Who knows what tricks you have up your sleeve?!" the person cried, causing some of the audience to agree and join in.

"It’s just twenty minutes. I’ll be redesigning the dress. The judges may assign a few people to watch over me. What are you afraid of? Do you have a guilty conscience?" Qin Zhuzhu glared coldly at the person.

"What? N-no. Why would I?" the person stammered under her fierce gaze.

"Does everyone agree to this decision?" Qin Zhuzhu spoke loudly. She bowed politely to the judges.

The person wanted to say something, but Bai Qianhua shot them a look. The person quickly shut up and sat down.

Let’s see how you embarrass yourself in front of everyone. In the future, you’ll have no face to show yourself!

"I agree!"

"I agree!"

"I agree! Let’s see what she can do!"

Everyone agreed unanimously. Li Shao’s grip relaxed.

One of the judges placed a timer on the table where everyone could see it.

Qin Zhuzhu took the dress with her and quickly went into the back room to gather some materials. A few staffs were sent to keep an eye on her. The dress was on a mannequin with wheels, making it easy to roll across the floor. She looked around hurriedly and found some spray paint and brushes. Excellent!

She searched through drawers for buttons and decorative beads. Now she had what was necessary to improve the dress, but it wasn’t enough. Qin Zhuzhu wanted her dress to be unique, one of a kind. The back room didn’t have much.

She looked up at the curtains. This curtain isn’t bad!

There were footsteps, and a courier appeared at the door of the back room.

"Are you Miss Qin?" he asked.

"Yes?"

"This is for you," the courier said, handing her a parcel.

"Excuse me, are you mistaken? I’m not expecting anything," she said. Somehow, the situation felt familiar.

"There’s no mistake. You’re Qin Zhuzhu, right?"

Qin Zhuzhu nodded.

"Alright! This parcel is really for you," he said, and Qin Zhuzhu thanked him before he left.

She checked the clock on the wall. Ten minutes had passed. Time was tight.

She opened the parcel and was stunned.

In the main hall of the hotel, everyone waited eagerly to see what she could come up with. Some started to gossip among themselves, wondering if she had run away, while others saw it as a creative way to market the fashion company.

Because of the suspense, the event attracted many fashion bloggers and influencers online, including those who liked to create content out of nothing.

Li International Fashion and Design—the name of the company hosting the competition—became the number one search on Weibo and Douyin.

Five minutes left...

There was still no sign of Qin Zhuzhu.

The bloggers started livestreaming, showing thousands of viewers what the main hall looked like. The judges’ faces were relaxed, but their bodies looked tense.

If Qin Zhuzhu failed to deliver a satisfactory result, it would be a huge slap in the face for the company and the judges, destroying their reputation.

It seemed as though someone had called all these bloggers and influencers to escalate the matter. Now, with the public watching, the judges and staff didn’t dare to kick Qin Zhuzhu out.

Three minutes left...

Li Shao anxiously glanced at his watch. If she didn’t come out, she would have to uphold her promise and leave the fashion industry for good.

Two minutes left...

Bai Qianhua smiled wickedly. There was no way Qin Zhuzhu could make it. It took at least three days to come up with a good design and put everything together.

One minute...
