Fake Husband of the Glamorous CEO-Chapter 502: Can’t explain clearly
Jiang Ruolin and Chen Ke walked down the main street, looking for a cheap hotel nearby.
But the two of them noticed something strange—the same person was always following them.
Gu Feng!
He, too, was just idly munching on the bread Jiang Ruolin had given him while trailing behind her.
No tricks, just a straightforward approach.
After walking through two streets, Jiang Ruolin confirmed that Gu Feng was following her. She turned around and asked him, "Do you need something else?"
Gu Feng shook his head.
Jiang Ruolin didn’t understand, "Then why... are you following me?"
Gu Feng: "I have nowhere else to go."
Jiang Ruolin and Chen Ke both laughed.
Somewhat speechless.
Chen Ke said, "Why are you following us? We’re just students; we can’t support you."
Gu Feng didn’t say anything.
"Forget it, let’s find a place to stay first," Jiang Ruolin urged Chen Ke as she turned around to continue their search.
Gu Feng continued right behind them.
The streets were bustling, filled with the intermittent honking of cars and crowded with people. Even the sky above was dotted with Qi Refinement and Foundation Establishment Stage cultivators on Sword Flight.
Jiang Ruolin and Chen Ke, using the crowded throng as cover, tried to shake Gu Feng off their trail.
But no matter if they were amidst the throng at the traffic lights or in the crowd at a mall event, they couldn’t manage to lose Gu Feng.
Finally, it was only when Jiang Ruolin, who was in the Qi Refining Late Stage, used her Sword Flight technique with Chen Ke that they managed to shake off Gu Feng.
Eventually, the two of them found a hotel, and Jiang Ruolin checked in successfully.
Chen Ke also returned to his school dormitory.
But when Jiang Ruolin went out for food that afternoon, she was shocked to find Gu Feng, who had been missing during the day, sitting in a crouch in front of her hotel room door.
Jiang Ruolin stood there, flabbergasted.
How did he find her?
Seeing her come out, Gu Feng also stood up, gazing at her.
That gaze, as if yearning for a face remembered from thousands of years ago.
Seeing no malice in him, just standing there staring at her, she said, "Let’s be reasonable, I kindly gave you food, yet you want to stick to me like glue? That’s not going to fly, right?"
She had barely finished speaking when her phone rang.
It was Chen Ke calling.
As soon as she answered, he said frantically, "Ruolin, I’m doomed. Auntie cornered me at school. I couldn’t stand up to her threats and briberies, so I gave her your hotel address. Are you at the hotel? If so, run fast; if not, don’t go back."
Jiang Ruolin’s eyes widened, "Good job, Chen Ke, you’re so unreliable! My mom is at the Core Formation Stage of cultivation; she could be here in a minute. If I don’t go back to the hotel and the room charge renews automatically, where will I find the money?"
"Got to run."
Jiang Ruolin hurried back to her room, grabbed her suitcase, and dashed for the elevator.
But she had just washed some clothes, which she had not had time to dry or pack, and there was no way she could stuff them wet into her suitcase.
Thus, in her rush to sort things out, she ended up fumbling and scattering her belongings.
Seeing her struggle with her arms full of bags and hurriedly running to the elevator, Gu Feng kindly stepped forward to help her with her luggage.
Busy pressing the elevator button, Jiang Ruolin turned her head and saw Gu Feng had already carried the luggage from her door. Gratefully, she said, "Thank you."
But just then, the elevator door opened from the first floor.
The person sitting inside just happened to be her own mother, Liu Mei.
At that moment, Mrs. Jiang narrowed her eyes while Jiang Ruolin’s eyes widened like copper bells.
Gu Feng stood behind her, still holding onto the handle of the suitcase.
Liu Mei’s gaze shifted from her daughter to Gu Feng behind her.
Her frown deepened.
"Mom," Jiang Ruolin could only reveal a smile that was both pleasing and sensible, somewhat coquettishly saying, "Why are you here? I just missed Keke, so I came to see her for a couple of days."
"Did you come to see Keke, or to have a secret meeting with your man? If I hadn’t come, would you have kept hiding it?" Liu Mei narrowed her eyes.
"What?"
Jiang Ruolin followed her mother’s gaze and turned her head to find that Gu Feng was still there and very close to her.
She realized her mother might have misunderstood.
"No, mom, you’ve misunderstood."
"Misunderstood?" Liu Mei gritted her teeth, "You came to a hotel with someone, and you call it a misunderstanding?"
Then, she saw the bag Jiang Ruolin was holding, which contained freshly washed clothes yet to be dried.
It just so happened to include her newly changed underwear and other intimate apparel.
This looked exactly like the aftermath of doing something secretive, which enraged Mrs. Jiang immensely.
Since family scandals should not be publicized, she could only resign herself and walk toward the hotel room, bursting out, "Come inside!"
Jiang Ruolin felt like even jumping into the Yellow River wouldn’t clear her name, and annoyed, she looked at Gu Feng saying, "What are you standing there for? Let’s go!"
"Go? Both of you, come inside!" Mrs. Jiang mistook this as her daughter still trying to cover for her partner and let him escape the scene, and she scolded angrily.
Gu Feng could only follow Jiang Ruolin toward the guest room.
"Close the door!" Mrs. Jiang gestured for her daughter Jiang Ruolin to shut the door.
Jiang Ruolin forced a smile and explained, "Mom, it’s not what you think. I don’t even know him, we haven’t done anything, I’m clean, I can prove it."
The more she explained, the more Mrs. Jiang felt that Gu Feng, as a man, lacked responsibility. She scoffed at him, "Do you expect a woman to take all the blame for you?"
Gu Feng could only step past Jiang Ruolin and enter the guest room.
Jiang Ruolin saw his opportunistic attitude and was speechless, blocking the guest room’s doorway to stop Gu Feng from entering, "No, what does this have to do with you? Can you leave first? Stop messing things up for me!"
"You’re still protecting him?" Mrs. Jiang got angry, "Sit down, both of you!"
Gu Feng patted Jiang Ruolin’s shoulder and decisively said, "Let’s go in, we’ll talk properly with your aunt."
Jiang Ruolin glared.
Her look at Gu Feng was frantic.
Confused, annoyed, resentful, and almost bursting out with unsaid words, though she didn’t speak, Gu Feng could feel her cursing furiously.
Bang!
After Mrs. Jiang smashed a hotel chair with a slap, Jiang Ruolin immediately sat down obediently.
Gu Feng also sat to one side.
After Mrs. Jiang calmed down significantly, she came to terms with this absurd reality and asked, "Tell me, what do you two plan to do?"
"Mom, I really have nothing with him, I don’t even know him..." Jiang Ruolin still wanted to explain.
But Mrs. Jiang just looked at Gu Feng and said, "Aren’t you planning to take responsibility for my daughter? Can you take off your hood?"
Gu Feng then slowly removed his hooded cloak, revealing his rugged, weather-beaten, and yet handsome face.
Although scruffy, Gu Feng’s appearance stayed around that of a charming man in his early thirties.
Only then did Jiang Ruolin realize that Gu Feng wasn’t some beggarly old man.
And for some reason, his face felt both familiar and strange to her.
