Chapter 51: Battery boyfriends and poor Bear

YIREN

"Asshole. Duffus. Buffoon. Monkey. Satan. Jerk—" I stop mid-rant, noticing Rui calmly setting the dinner table. Right. Focus, Yiren. Jun was right. Can’t let her think something’s up.

I bite my tongue and give a tight smile, trying to play it cool, but inside, I’m still spiraling. What the actual fck was that back there? Why couldn’t I tear my eyes away?* I can’t believe I just stood there, practically drooling. Sure, the man’s hot. I mean, no one could deny that. But he’s Jun. Ugh, am I that intimacy-deprived? Maybe I should take a break and use one of my battery-operated boyfriends.

God, Yiren. Get it together. You need that release.

I take a deep breath, turning to Rui with a forced casualness. "Hi, could you tell me where my things are? I don’t see my bags anywhere."

Rui smiles warmly. "They arrived this morning, madam. We’ve unpacked everything and arranged it in your closet."

Wait. Unpacked everything? My heart skips a beat. My everything? Oh no. My mind immediately races to the things no one should ever see. My battery-operated toys.

I quickly excuse myself, practically sprinting back to the room. The sound of the shower running is loud and clear, so Jun’s still busy in there. Good. My first instinct is to locate my things and hide them before anyone else gets an eyeful.

I rush to the closet, swinging open the doors. Wow. They gave me half the space. That’s generous. But wait... 90% of the clothes hanging here aren’t even mine. And they’re all in my size. There’s a collection of designer heels too—also my size. What the hell is happening?

My heart sinks for a moment. Is this... some leftover wardrobe from one of Jun’s ex-girlfriends? The thought makes my gut twist. I can almost picture it—one of his glamorous exes standing here, in this closet, getting dressed while he watches her, maybe with that infuriating smile of his. Then he’d walk up behind her, peppering kisses along her neck...

Whoa, whoa, stop right there, Yiren. Why do I care? I don’t care. This is his house. He can do whatever he wants. But still... this feels low, even for Jun—keeping their stuff here, mixing it with mine.

Suddenly, Rui appears at the door again, snapping me out of my mental spiral. "Sir ordered everything for you," she says calmly. "If you don’t like any of it or the size isn’t right, let me know. I’ll initiate a refund or exchange."

My brain short-circuits.

"Jun ordered everything?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper.

Rui nods. "Yes, ma’am."

I’m stunned into silence, looking around the closet—my closet. Half of it, loaded with the best clothes I could never afford. Dresses, shoes, heels for every occasion. I check the drawers—perfumes, cosmetics...

Wait. Is that—lingerie? Oh my God. Did he order lingerie for me? And... they’re in my size.

How does he even know my size?! Do I ask him? No. Will this bother me? Absolutely yes.

Rui’s voice cuts through my panic again. "Do you need help with anything?"

"No, thank you," I say, barely holding it together as she leaves the room.

As soon as the coast is clear, I dive into the closet like a woman on a mission, frantically rummaging through every drawer. Where are my toys? They’ve unpacked everything—everything—but my precious little gadgets? Gone. Not here. Nowhere to be found.

I sift through all my old stuff. Clothes, shoes, toiletries—but no toys.

Oh my God. Where are they?

"Are you looking for something?" His voice startles me.

I freeze, turning slowly to find Jun standing there in a black pajama set, water dripping from his freshly washed hair. He looks... well, like Satan in pajamas. A very handsome one at that. The way he smells... so manly, like cedarwood and something addictive. I want to nudge my nose into his neck and take a long, deep sniff.

Snap out of it, Yiren.

Bear struts in like he owns the place, giving me the distraction I desperately need from my uncontrollable thoughts. Thank God for Bear.

"Hey, buddy. Do you like the place?" Jun crouches and scoops Bear into his arms, giving him all the attention. Bear, of course, wiggles his tail—either in excitement or just happy to be doted on. Who knows?

Jun kisses Bear’s furry head, squeezing him gently. And Bear? He takes full advantage, licking Jun’s neck. Once, twice... and again.

Oh, sure. The little guy and I are thinking the same thing. Only difference? He gets to lick. I get to stare.

Just stare. My luck. I want to be a dog next birth.

I avert my eyes, focusing back on the task at hand. The battery boyfriends. They should be somewhere on my side of the closet, right?

Jun’s voice cuts through my chaotic thoughts. "So, what exactly are you looking for?"

"Just... checking if everything’s here," I mumble a lie, my hands still rifling through the neatly folded clothes.

"Uh-huh." He places Bear down and I feel his presence behind me, leaning over my shoulder. "Seems like you’re missing something. Care to share?"

Absolutely not.

"I’m just... making sure everything’s in its place," I open another drawer, but nope—no toys.

"You’re a terrible liar, Rabbit."

I snap, closing the drawer with more force than necessary. I turn back toward him, my heart racing at the closeness between us.

"If it’s something... personal, you can always ask. I won’t judge," he says, going back to his side of the closet, and I let out a breath I don’t even know I was holding.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about." I turn back to look in a different drawer.

"Um... Yiren, the thing you looking for—are they in multiple colors?"

"Yea."

"Battery operated?"

I pause, turning to him. But his face is towards his closet.

"Um... yes?"

"They are long, thick... built for speed, power, and getting the job done and vibrates?"

WTF!

Horror sinks

I push him aside and there they are... On his side of the closet.

I covered them with my hands, "You didn’t see anything!"

"I totally did! Why are they in my drawer?"

"Ah, you are not supposed to see them! Close your eyes!" I collect them in my arms, shifting them to my side. Instead of closing, his eyes ping-pongs between two sides, following me. "Close your eyes dammit!"

"Why would you have so many?" He shrieks, equally flustered.

"Why do you want to know?" I push at his chest, sending him out, "Go out! Get out!"

I step on a vibrator which I don’t even know has fallen on the rug, and it turned on. Vibrating wildly, spinning around with a life of its own, pushing, making all types of noises. It is my best investment and has cost me a fortune.

He stares at its movements, eyes wide like about to pop out. "Jesus, how do you survive that?"

"GET OUT! DON’T EVER MENTION THIS AGAIN!" I shriek, completely mortified.

Jun stumbles backward, tripping over Bear, who barks like he’s been wronged. He scrambles to his feet, picks up a very disappointed Bear, and sprints out of the room, colliding with the recliner on his way out, dropping Bear yet again.

Bear the angry bird, shakes widely, glaring daggers, and starts complaining in his own language.

"Jun!" I call after him. He peeks his head back in, scoops the bear and with one hand on his mouth, he stops his complaints.

"Yeah?" he asks, cheeks still red.

I bite my lip, fighting back my embarrassment. "Thanks for, uh... buying everything for me. I... love it."

He smiles, his face just as red as mine. "You’re welcome, Rabbit."

And with that, he disappears, leaving me alone to deal with my battery-operated boyfriends.
