Chapter 47: Ch 47 : Reign Gilarnia

"This is the underground of the tower, huh?" Gray said as he looked around after sneaking into the base of the Tower of Heaven from underwater.

"Where are Erza and Happy?" Natsu asked, completely uninterested in the surroundings, his eyes scanning the area as if trying to find the kidnapped Erza and Happy.

Meanwhile, Lucy held the air bubble created by Juvia in her hand, speaking with undisguised admiration, "This is really convenient, though the craftsmanship is a bit rough."

Hearing Lucy's comment, a glint of cold light flashed in Juvia's eyes.

She muttered in a volume just loud enough for Lucy to hear, "I made yours a little smaller on purpose. It's amazing you can still breathe."

"Hey, hey..." A few veins popped on Lucy's forehead.

Even she didn't know how to respond to such a blatant expression of regret for a failed murder attempt.

"It's intruders!"

A sudden shout startled the group.

Looking up, they saw a guard of the Tower of Heaven sitting atop a flying magical beast, having already spotted them.

With the panicked alarm ringing through the air, it wasn't long before groups of armed soldiers appeared from all directions, charging toward Natsu and the others.

"Who are you?!"

"Damn it!"

"In that case, we've got no choice but to fight," Gray said lazily, his expression completely calm despite the approaching soldiers.

"You're asking who we are?" Natsu said darkly to the guards, his entire body erupting in flames.

A red Dragon Slayer magic circle appeared in his hands. "You don't even recognize such fitting opponents?"

Boom!

With a thunderous explosion, the entire floor was blasted to pieces by Natsu's flames, instantly engulfing the ground in thick smoke.

"What?!"

"It's Fairy Tail, you idiots!"

As the group emerged from the smoke, each of them unleashed their own powerful magic, swiftly taking down the soldiers surrounding them.

"Most of them are taken care of," Juvia remarked coolly as she looked at the soldiers sprawled all over the ground.

"Yeah."

"Causing this much commotion... there's no way it won't be a problem, right?" Lucy said helplessly.

"Where's that four-eyed guy?" Natsu glanced around.

Just as they were talking, a face-shaped stone carving embedded in the wall suddenly opened its mouth.

A staircase extended from within, slowly lowering to the ground until it finally stopped in front of them.

"What's going on?" Natsu frowned as he stared at the staircase.

"Is it inviting us up?" Gray speculated.

"Jellal-sama, why are you luring the intruders in?"

In the deepest part of the Tower of Heaven, a man dressed in white, with long black hair that trailed to the ground, watched the image of Natsu and his group on a glowing screen.

He then turned to the hooded man seated at the head of the chamber, questioning him with confusion.

"I already told you, this is a game. They've merely passed the first stage, nothing more. The game is only going to get more interesting," the hooded man said, his tone carrying both amusement and indifference.

"But it would be best to proceed with the ritual as soon as possible. The investigative ship that was sunk the other day... I fear the Council may already be—"

"Vidaldus..." The hooded man interrupted the black-haired one. "Are you still worried about that? Those trash from the Council cannot stop us."

"Hmph, a bunch of useless fools, whether it's the Magic Council or those Fairy Tail pests," a voice filled with disdain echoed from the shadows.

A young boy, no more than twelve or thirteen years old, stepped forward.

He had short golden-blond hair, piercing green eyes, and wore a black leather outfit.

His expression showed utter contempt for both the Council and Fairy Tail.

"You've arrived, Reign." The hooded man shifted his gaze toward the child, a trace of wariness flickering in his eyes. "Reign, Noel Rutherford has already entered the Tower of Heaven."

"I know. That's exactly why I'm here." The boy called Reign responded coldly, then turned his eyes toward another glowing screen displaying Noel's image.

In the screen, Noel had already taken down all the guards and was walking into the Tower with a composed and leisurely demeanor.

"He's mine. No one is to interfere in my fight with him," Reign declared without sparing Jellal a glance. "Jellal, prepare the battlefield for our battle."

Jellal didn't mind the rudeness of the blond-haired child.

After all, he was more aware than anyone else of just how terrifying the strength of this seemingly harmless child truly was.

Even he couldn't guarantee that he had the ability to defeat him.

That day, the child appeared before him and stated that he was willing to help, on the condition that he be allowed to battle Noel Rutherford.

Although Jellal had no idea what kind of grudge this child held against Noel, given his own nature, he had no intention of probing further.

Instead, he simply agreed without hesitation.

Thinking of this, Jellal calmly nodded. "Alright, I will provide you with his route. As for the battlefield, you may choose it yourself."

The blond-haired child did not respond to Jellal's words.

His eyes remained locked onto Noel's image on the screen, his fists clenched tightly.

Under the light, the back of his right hand revealed a black cross-shaped symbol.

If a mage familiar with dark guilds were present, they would undoubtedly be shocked to recognize this symbol as the emblem of Demon God's Soul, the strongest of the four major factions within the Balam Alliance.

"I will definitely defeat you, Noel Rutherford, and prove to that great one that only I am the perfect tool. You are utterly worthless to that great one."

The child's low voice was filled with overwhelming jealousy and unwillingness.

"I swear it, in the name of the Steel Throne, one of the Seven Thrones of Demon God's Soul—Reign Gilarnia."

At this moment, far from the Tower of Heaven, a lone figure was rapidly approaching its direction across the ocean's surface.

If anyone had witnessed this scene, they would have thought their eyes were deceiving them.

The figure appeared to be teleporting—each time his body flickered into sight above the water, he would instantly vanish again, only to reappear nearly a thousand meters ahead.

This eerie method of movement continued without pause, his speed beyond anything a normal person could perceive.

"Reign..." The shadowy figure murmured the name of the blonde-haired child within the Tower of Heaven, his voice carrying a faint undertone of anger.

Then, the figure vanished once more.
