Extra's POV: My Obsessive Villainous Fiancee Is The Game's Final Boss-Chapter 446: Freedom From Locks
Ren’s eyes snapped open, a scream of pain leaving his mouth.
The fire inside him flared.
This wasn’t like before. The Push resonance, Tithecraft, Soul Binding, those had been burned away, severed like dead branches. But this... this was different.
Unfettered Enhancement was him.
Unlike the others, it was a Divine Gift. It was the force that had carried him through a thousand battles. That had made him master skills other people spent their lives chasing after. That had kept him alive long after his body should have failed.
And now, it was being burned.
He gasped, his body arching, and the air filled with the sound of something crumbling.
His Vine Armor.
The living green weave that had shielded him for years peeled off in fragments. The leaves blackened, curled, and turned to ash, falling around him in soft flakes.
"Ren!" Lilith cried, gripping his shoulder. "Your armor—"
He couldn’t answer. His entire being was shaking. The vines disintegrated faster now, the last of them bursting into embers that drifted up into the fiery air.
Then the burning spread deeper.
Ren felt it move inside his soul, past the body, past the surface, and straight into the lattice of skills he had built over the past nine years.
"No," he gasped, clutching his chest. "Stop..."
He felt his strength dissolving, the familiar surges of energy collapsing like glass towers.
Every skill he had trained, every technique he had refined, began to unravel.
He felt them slipping away. The combat instincts, the reflex amplifications, the balance corrections, everything.
"Ren!" Lilith shouted, shaking him, tears dripping down her face. "Hold on!"
But he could feel himself falling apart.
Inside his mind’s eye, he saw his own soul. A vast network of glowing branches, each one representing something he had learned or earned.
The Flame’s light passed through them, and they withered, burning white-hot before vanishing.
His swordsfighting skill. Gone.
His marksmanship skill. Gone.
His hand to hand combat skills. Gone.
All those years of pushing himself to the edge, ashes.
He reached out mentally, trying to stop the fire, but his grasp slipped through it like smoke.
And then, something changed.
The flame didn’t continue burning outwards. It... paused.
Ren’s breath caught. The pain dulled, shifting to a strange heat that wasn’t agony.
It was clarity. The fire’s glow moved differently now, less destructive and more deliberate.
It wasn’t devouring Unfettered Enhancement.
It was reforging it.
The realization came like a breath of air after drowning.
He understood.
The Primordial Flame wasn’t erasing his power. It was cleansing it. Removing the impurities, the limitations, the layers of constraint that had kept him bound.
Ren’s soul trembled as Unfettered Enhancement began to reshape itself.
The broken branches that had once represented separate skills twisted together, fusing into a single golden root. The scattered fragments of his strength condensed into one core, one essence.
It wasn’t the old energy anymore. It was new. Raw. Infinite.
He felt every cell in his body ignite, then stabilize. His bones grew dense as diamond. His veins flowed with light.
Every heartbeat came with a shockwave of renewal, like the world itself was breathing through him.
And at the center of it all, the Primordial Flame pulsed once, gently.
The process was complete.
Ren opened his eyes, panting. The fire inside him had quieted. The pain was gone, replaced by a comforting heat.
Lilith held his face in her hands, tears still streaking down her cheeks. "Ren... are you okay?"
He smiled faintly. "Better than okay."
The words vibrated with quiet awe. He rose slowly, and as he did, golden light poured from his body, washing over the space.
The Primordial Flame hovered in his heart, its tiny size almost laughable given the energy it radiated. Yet Ren could feel it. The impossible balance it represented.
Creation and destruction. Life and death. Beginning and end.
He flexed his hand, and the air rippled. The power didn’t feel light and effortless. Like he could do anything he wanted.
"Lilith," he murmured, turning towards her. His eyes shimmered brighter. "I can see it now."
"See what?"
"The world," he said softly. "And you."
Her brow furrowed in confusion. But then she saw his expression shift. His gaze seemed to see through her.
What he saw took his breath away. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Her soul.
For the first time, he could see what Lilith saw. He could see the luminous being she truly was.
Her soul burned with soft blue light, threaded with cracks and locks, barriers that coiled around it like chains.
Ren reached out, awe spreading across his face. "Lilith... there are locks on you."
"The locks the Blurred Man spoke about?" she asked, eyes widening.
"Yes." He stepped closer, his hand hovering near her chest. "I can see the restrictions placed on your Divine Gift. The one that makes your emotions unstable. And the one Yggdrasil used to lock your power internally."
"You can remove it." Lilith said, a statement of fact.
"Yes." Ren said simply.
His gaze softened as it drifted lower. Sitting comfortably in her belly, he saw something else.
A small light nestled deep within her. Fragile, pure, and growing.
A heartbeat within a heartbeat.
Their baby.
Ren smiled, the fire in his chest flickering with warmth. "It’s beautiful," he whispered.
Lilith blinked, confused, then followed his gaze. When she understood, her lips parted. A hand instinctively moved to her belly.
"You can see...?"
"I can see everything," Ren said quietly.
For a moment, there was peace.
Then Ren’s expression hardened. "Those locks. I’m removing them."
Lilith immediately stepped closer and placed a hand on his chest. "Do it."
Ren placed his palm over her heart. "This might hurt."
She smiled faintly. "Pain’s never stopped us before."
The Primordial Flame flared.
Fire flowed from Ren’s palm into her chest, not burning, but cleansing.
Lilith gasped, arching back as blue light erupted from her body, merging with the golden glow of the Flame. The two colors twisted together, dancing in radiant spirals that filled the air around them.
Ren felt the locks resisting him, but they were nothing before the Primordial Flame.
One by one, the golden chains cracked, melted, and vanished.
The black seals crumbled next, dissolving into dust.
Finally, the deepest lock shattered with a sound like a sigh, and the energy within Lilith exploded outwards.
Her soul flared to full brightness, flooding the dimension with blue light.
Ren staggered back, blinded by the brilliance.
Lilith exhaled, her eyes glowing a pure crimson. The air hummed with her released power, waves of soul energy rippling across the fiery space.
She stood still for a long moment, then looked up at him with tears and a radiant smile.
"I can feel it," she whispered. "I’m... free."
Ren smiled back, his own golden aura flickering in answer. "Then it’s time we stopped surviving," he said softly. "And started living."
He held her hands, his smile widening.
"Let’s go save the world."
