Even though she did not need to explain herself, just for the sake of it, she explained so that everyone would fight with their all when the time came, instead of harboring unnecessary doubts.

"Vyra Vanelis is the most talented archer and Alchemist, so she would be able to lead the sharpshooters from high in the walls very well. While she could also be simply kept as one of the members of the fortifiers, that would be a waste of her talent. Because even if we are the defending section, we would not actually be defending, we will not hold back and attack them with full fury while obviously adhering to all the rules of the competition."

"Heinz Gil is also the obvious choice for the leader of the shock troops, because his warlord aspect strengthens the troops and himself, which is an aspect that is perfect for leading the ground troops in large numbers."

Her eyes finally glanced towards Axel, as her eyes met with his ocean blue eyes, her expression remained neutral, but Axel could see that her gaze held a sort of disappointment and disdain towards him.

Axel frowned, just what the fuck did this bitch want him to do, did this bitch actually want him to turn into a psychopathic murderer or something, or turn into a cold emotionless being like her, is that what she wanted? For one, he was already surprised that she had selected him for that post, as a division leader at that, considering how badly their last meeting had ended, he did not expect her to put him as one of the division leaders.

’Well, at least she has the decency to put personal and academic matters on different sides and not let the two mix,’ he thought to himself and praised her silently at least for that.

But there was a problem, he wasn’t interested in being on the fortifiers section, division leader or not. While that position was tempting because you would get greater evaluation points in that position if you performed well, but he didn’t care. It’s been a while since he had a good fight. A place where he could fight to his heart’s content, killing beasts didn’t feel enjoyable. That rush of adrenaline when fighting against outnumbered enemies was such a beautiful feeling.

Not to mention, for the eventuality of what he was planning, he needed to be in the shock troops division; it was simply necessary.

At this point, the valkyrie and Axel were staring at each other for almost 10 seconds, and things became a bit awkward again. Lumina and Lucien both frowned at that, for different reasons each.

Eventually, Sophia diverted her gaze while Axel still kept looking at her. She finally spoke again, addressing everyone, "As for the reason why Axel Nomrad is suited for the position of the fortifiers is also obvious because he is the best runecaster. He can create various tools and help with the fortification of the fortress and the gate from inside, and he is also sufficiently strong to protect the flagpole from collapsing, if some enemy troops do breach inside, just in case."

Lucien, on the other hand, did not like how she was talking about Axel; he didn’t like it one bit. And it was Heinz who actually noticed how the corner of his friend’s mouth rose up for a moment ever so slightly. He shook his head and chuckled.

How Axel was unblinkingly staring at the divine figure of the valkyrie made Lumina somewhat insecure; she knew very well how devastatingly beautiful her friend was. If not for her mind being naturally stronger for being an Arcane Runecaster, and the Suncrest family being the descendants of the previous valkyrie, even she would not remain unaffected by the charm of Sophia. Her charm was simply too insidious, too encroaching, that it could bend the mind of almost any man at her same power level.

But her guess was completely wrong, while everyone was usually mesmerized by her beauty, there was another reason why he was staring at her like that, he felt complicated to be honest, for one he didn’t expect her to praise his capabilities like that and put him on such a position, despite his outburst at her last the time they met face to face. But he also didn’t want that position; he needed to be in the shock troops. So, despite her goodwill or supposed neutrality, he would have to refuse her assigned role for himself.

He thought to himself self-deprecatingly, ’Sigh, why don’t things ever go the way I want them to?’

The valkyrie continued to speak, "So, that will be the division leader’s distributions for now. As for the specifics of who will be in what division, we will discuss that....."

Axel, at this very moment, interrupted her, "Miss Valkyrie."

Axel’s calm voice cut through the speech of the Valkyrie like a hot knife through butter.

A wave of displeasure washed over her as she looked at the ungodly handsome man, donned in blue and white runic attire, his sapphire-like blue eyes, and hair like the wave of the ocean, which made him probably the most unique and handsome-looking man out of everyone as well. But his charming appearance did little to quell the displeasure of the mighty summoned heroine. She asked him, annoyance obvious in her tone,

"What is it, Axel Nomrad?"

Everyone’s turned their attention to Axel, most of them looked at him with eager amusement for interrupting the valkyrie, this guy was basically asking to be humiliated for interrupting her like that. That was their thought process. But they were oh so so very wrong. If there was one person who would not give two hoots about how much stronger the valkyrie was compared to themselves, it would be the one and only Axel Nomrad, and no one else.
