Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 176: Roles Distribution [1]
Chapter 176: Roles Distribution [1]
Everyone on the Gold section had gathered in their dedicated training hall. But it wasn’t for any combat class or anything, but that they all agreed to come here today. Since Professor Darwin revealed that everyone needed to decide on who should be assigned to which position, he advised all the students to decide on it as soon as possible, and work on their total coordination as a whole team in these few days as much as possible.
Heinz even asked the professor if it was possible to actually train in the fortress, but Darwin simply said that it wasn’t allowed; that is the setback you have to work with, it’s a difficulty that is part of the test itself. But they can train in one of the large fields if they want. They only needed to tell the academy staff, and they would isolate the field so that no one else could see their training.
After all, if someone from the sections saw their training and strategies from afar, it is something that they could likely use as an advantage. So, it was something they had to be somewhat cautious against.
So, now they gathered in their training hall to decide on which position who would be in. Axel’s eyes involuntarily went towards Ken Dusker, someone who had been too quiet for a pretty long time, which was not in his character; the only reason for that could be Lucien. Well, Ken was also likely involved in that incident with the artifact accident. But there was no proof for it.
Ken also noticed that someone was looking at him, and looked towards Axel. For a moment, his eyes blazed in fury seeing Axel, but then he showed an utterly mocking smile towards him. Axel did not react to it; he simply kept looking at him with a chilling gaze from afar. Most of the students were busy bickering over who should have what role.
Specially, the first prince who was making bold proclamations on why he should be the commander. The valkyrie remained standing at one side, far in the distance, almost uninterested as if she was almost forced to be here.
Lucien bickered with the first prince, as their topic of discussion diverged entirely to something else at a certain point. Thorian Blackvale simply watched this on with amusement, his brother, though, went on to interject, feeling the need to enforce the authority of the Blackvale great kingdom. Another princess from the Samartan Great Kingdom also joined in.
Heinz watched this on with some excitement, wishing for the whole thing to escalate into a fight of sorts. Lumina watched on with a bit of a worried eye. She was standing next to Sophia, and she could not help but ask her, "Shouldn’t you intervene?"
The valkyrie simply said emotionlessly, "Hm, not yet."
Vyra was also with them as she added, "Who cares, just let them do whatever they want. Not like anything will happen to your brother, you know."
Lumina recently introduced Vyra to Sophia, though the alchemy genius wasn’t comfortable in speaking with the stoic and icy valkyrie, she was at least trying to mix with her, at the request of Lumina, obviously. Sophia agreed with her, surprisingly, "Yes, let them do whatever they want, for now."
Because of all these commotions, no one noticed the silent stare down between Axel and Ken. Axel was obviously not going to wait for this bastard to silently make another move from the background. He would have to stir up the hornet’s nest in advance. And he knew the perfect time to do so. Soon, oh very very soon, things are going to become interesting. He was tired of playing nice.
There is another reason why Axel had become so close with Lumina, that’s right, she was a necessary piece. Of course, he did consider her a friend, he truly did, but you have to do what you have to do. No matter how cruel it might seem. Sometimes, trying to take revenge no matter the cost, perhaps turns you into something that you hated to begin with, something worse, but so what? He would accept his own faults when the time came, but revenge must be served no matter what, whether it tasted sweet or sour or nothing, doesn’t matter.
Both Ken and Axel silently withdrew their gazes in somewhat unspoken agreement. When the discussion between the members of three royal families reached a feverish pitch, it wasn’t a discussion at this point; they were basically shouting at this point, just inches away from attacking each other. This also made sense, since the three royal families never really got along with each other in reality. They were always trying to stab each other in the back.
The only reason their minuscule unity is for the sake of a public facade and the bound promises of their founding ancestors, as well as the absolute weakness of humanity. Thus, they are at least forced to maintain a united front for the sake of survival.
The moment it seemed like the prince and princess were about to attack each other to determine who would be the commander, determining it by brute strength, while it is a bit inappropriate, the professor never said what we can or cannot do to determine the various roles. This was also part of the process. To see if a section can peacefully sort out the roles or do it through violence.
And what would be the results of that? Would they be content with that and able to work together when the actual competition began? These are the kind of problems that an army would face in front of a real war. As such, the academy created the perfect type of test mimicking the familiar situation.
Then right at the moment when the various princes and princesses were about to clash, the breathtaking and majestically beautiful figure of the Valkyrie who was leaning on the wall at one corner straitened her posture, then stepped forward as her long black dress rippled like a wave, her pitch black hair shone with ink-like brilliance. Seeing that Lumina chuckled and said in a barely audible whisper, "She finally had enough. heh."
Most of the students whose attention was fixed on the central conflict between the prince and princess’s unconsciously found their attention being diverted towards her direction; she was like a drop of black ink in an unblemished and smooth white paper, unmatched and unequal in beauty or power. Even the most minute movements of her were filled with otherworldly grace and beauty, like the very otherworldly being she actually is.
