Chapter 163: In Denial

No way, it wasn’t possible, the violence he saw in her eyes, could it be.... she saw the same in him? that same nature, he gritted his teeth and recollected himself, he glared at her hatefully, to which she simply smiled darkly with her divine face, and that only made her look even more desirable. But there was no such thought on Axel’s mind, unable to handle the presence of her any longer, he turned around and opened the door, and simply left with an extremely displeased expression on his face.

Seeing that gesture, Sophia laughed even more in dark amusement, but suddenly her laughter stopped abruptly as she touched her face, as if a thunderbolt had struck her, her smile vanished, and a deep frown appeared on her face. She uttered to herself absent-mindedly,

"What’s wrong...with me? Why was I??"

"Why was I smiling?" she asked herself. Almost as if something had taken over her when conversing with that man. Yes, she did feel that same violence as herself, in the depth of those ocean blue eyes, and she did want to talk about it, but much more calmly, to simply make him aware of it, and ask why he was that apprehensive of her, but.....but, why did she felt like she was almost having fun, having fun while seeing him in despair, seeing him break. Seeing him fall into the dark abyss, why did it bring such dark amusement, even joy, to her? Just why?

Countless more questions flashed through her mind, but there were no answers; only he could answer those questions of hers, but there was no way in hell would he approach him out of her own accord after what just happened. So, she erased all those unnecessary thoughts and went on her way, leaving the engraving room.

Meanwhile, Axel entered the shower right after going into his apartment, took off his clothes, he submerged himself into the bathtub filled with water. His mind was in disarray, despite not wanting to, his mind wandered to the words of hers, the truths she revealed.

Was she talking about his demon bloodline? Was that the source of violence and chaos deep within him, but no, that’s not quite right. From what he knew, the dual aspect of everyone, to be precise, the scenery inside both of the aspect chambers of any Seeker. Reflects a certain inherent and true nature about himself. At least, that is what is theorized.

The words of sin reflected on his mind, the obsession of his. It wasn’t something caused by the demon bloodline, yes, the bloodline likely amplifies his negative emotions or traits, but it does not cause them. It only brings out the sins that were simply buried deep underneath, nothing more and nothing less.

Meaning the scene in his chaosblood aspect chamber, it reflected a truth, a truth that he was unwilling to recognize, a truth that he was unwilling to accept, a truth he knowingly avoided. Because if he did not, what would he become?? Was Tyler Cross what he knew of himself, nothing but false? If so, then what was he? Just who was he? What did he want? What is his true self?

She said... she said that he was the same as her. A slaughterer, a destroyer, a doom bringer. No, he vehemently denied it, he couldn’t, he could never be a psychopathic murderer like her, it just wasn’t possible. He did not find joy in death, he did not find joy in chaos and mindless destruction.

Axel clutched his head as if in pain, in crisis, of not understanding who or what he was. He couldn’t get rid of all those thoughts on his mind. He needed answers to all these things, and there was only one place that he might find the answers. He needed to go into his secondary aspect chamber again.

He didn’t know what was in store for him, but he needed to find out. Axel readied multiple bottles of potions in his personal training room in his very apartment. Sitting down in a lotus position, he took a deep breath and entered his soul sanctum. In a flat and unremarkable land, his towering, gargantuan sanctum stood, unmoving like an eternal colossus meant to stand forever.

The doors opened, and he saw the familiar land filled with blood and countless dead corpses, a red sky, black and ominous clouds, a river of blood flowing right beside, stretching infinitely, to unending proportions. He looked around for a moment, just to be sure. And as expected, there was no sign of the demonic figure of his demonic phantom here.

Just like at that time, when sin took him to see the scarlet radiance, he needed to reach that uphill section. He looked at the blood river; he needed to follow its upstream, so he started running at full speed that he could muster. And his speed was much faster than it was before.

So, he ran unendingly, a first-phase Seeker with normal stats could run normally up to 30-40 kilometers per hour, depending on the progress of their phases, but Axel was now running at a likely 60 kilometers per hour speed without breaking a sweat. As he ran, countless dead bodies lay everywhere, and with every few steps, his foot landed on some random corpses, their bloody bodies getting crushed under his feet with every step.

But he felt nothing; he was stepping over thousands upon thousands of dead bodies, and the disturbing sound of their bones breaking could be heard with every step. The most disturbing part was perhaps. That every single dead body looked like they had died just a while ago, as fresh blood was leaking from various wounds on their bodies.

Some looked like they were pierced by a sword, some looked like they were pierced by a spear through the heart or the stomach, some had their limbs cut off. Some had their head severed. Some had a large hole straight through their bodies.

Some looked as if they were tortured to death, as the last look on their faces remained that of absolute despair. Some had their heads crushed, all bones broken. Internal organs were scattered outside from many dead bodies. Some had their limbs not cut off, but torn off forcefully. Axel could almost see the boundless agony they likely suffered in their last moments.
