Chapter 145: Trouble Knocking On The Door

Just as prince Luther stormed away with a furious expression from the engravement room in which Axel was in, Someone was outside seeing this with a smile, he could tell from the first prince’s expression that the conversation went bad, perhaps very bad, he smiled, "Now you have one more person working against you Axel Nomrad. I can’t do anything to you myself, but I can slowly turn more and more students against you. Soon, very soon, you will find yourself being disliked and hated by everyone as your reputation falls down, heh."

It was none other than Ken Dusker who subtly influenced Luther with the help of Taser Vex to either get Axel on his side if not do something against him; otherwise, he would become a big hurdle in the future. He chuckled in satisfaction at the results of his scheming and went on his way.

After a while, Axel walked out of the engraving room and scanned the surroundings carefully. There was no one; he went in a certain direction, a narrow alleyway between two buildings. There was a person covered in a hood waiting for him there. He asked, "Arclight Envoy??"

"Yes, Mr. Axel, it is. We deeply apologize for establishing contact with you after so many months, but we had no choice, the academy this time has a tighter security than the last time, we had to be too careful not to arouse any suspicions, this is the only area in the entire human lands among all the great and minor kingdoms in which Arclight has the least amount of influence and fluidity, I hope you understand." stated the envoy respectfully.

Axel nodded. He pretty much expected something like that to have happened since they didn’t establish contact with him even after so long. He asked, "I presume you have some of the news I want?"

The envoy nodded and handed him multiple papers, containing different information encoded; only those who knew how to decode those messages could understand them; otherwise, it would look like children’s squabbles.

He read the reports with intense gaze, the reports basically contained how his family was doing, the obsidian trade, thankfully it seems the dusker family had not moved against his own family, but they could attack in a few years, there were also some messages sent by his trusted manager slave, Neil croft. He smiled. It seemed things were going well on Neil’s end, but he was truly relieved hearing that the Duskers had not done anything to his family.

After he was done reading all of them, he created a small spark of fire with his mana and burned the papers. He asked the envoy, "I need you to monitor a few students, constantly."

But the envoy shook his head, "I apologize, sir Axel, but any sort of monitoring task is not possible within the grounds of the academy; we would instantly be caught."

He frowned. "In that case, how about you get me information on some individuals from the outside?"

The envoy thought for a moment and said, "A full background check? Yes, it’s possible, but it will take time, a few weeks or maybe a month at worst."

Axel hummed in slight annoyance. It was more time than he would have liked, but there was nothing he could do about it, so he revealed the names for which he needed full information, and he also wrote something and told the envoy to deliver it to Neil.

The next day as expected, bad news came knocking down on his door, all of his weapons...no not all of them but most of his weapons had shown some kind of problem, some of them exploded, some suddenly drained out all the mana from their users, some ended up receiving some kind of backlash.

Almost 60-70% of the students who bought their weapons from him and used them were injured in one way or the other. Those students who had taken the brunt of the explosions were seriously injured, even a normal human would’ve been turned into a meat paste from those accidents, with no way to recover.

Thankfully, the academy had more than enough powerful Seeker’s with healing type magics, so they were back to normal in no time, and this all happened at the dead of night, and surprisingly on Axel’s own building no such thing happened, even though multiple students used his own rune engraved swords, in that building.

Very...weird? It was as if nothing had happened in his own building so that he would not catch the wind of it, in the middle of the night. He was informed of this by one of the academy staffs in the morning and he was dragged into a separated white room for questioning, it was a bit abrupt, and this was the first time he was treated so roughly by the academy authorities, but he supposed that it made sense, considering that some of the students almost died, Luther Suncrest was severely injured, and many other heirs of the high nobles.

It was obvious to say pretty much all the students, except for his few close friends all were furious at Axel. They were demanding that he be publicly executed or something. But students of the academy were not fools; they could easily see that some kind of machinations were going on, someone was trying to frame Axel. Because why would he try to harm all those students of the academy, knowing he would be implicated?

It was flat out too open, but those who were badly hurt couldn’t care about those logics and simply wanted Axel to be dead; they even swore in their hearts to literally wipe out the Nomrad family the moment they had the chance. It was a real possibility.

If the Suncrest king had heard that his favorite child got seriously injured by a weapon he brought from the Nomrad heir, that alone might be enough to spell doom for the 3rd-grade merchant family of the Nomrad’s.

As such, he was now sitting in an interrogation room. He’s been here for a few hours. He was bored as hell, considering they simply left him to be after putting him in here, he was pretty sure they were observing him through some magic, to see his behavior. It was quite normal, this kind of tactic, you see.

Those who are guilty when left alone in a room would show obvious signs of distress and anxiety, but those who are not guilty have confidence in that fact, won’t show a fraction of the worries.

After an unknown amount of time, a section in the wall opened like a door, from which a familiar face walked out. It was the vice principal, Selwyn Brown. He showed a surprised expression as the man came and sat right opposite him at the table, pulling out a chair. The man only looked at him silently and did not say anything, but Axel wasn’t intimidated, for someone who had dealt with the onslaught of fifteen 8th circle powerhouses together, as a mere peak 4th circle runecaster, this was even less than nothing.

So, how could he be intimidated by the gaze of the vice principal, who didn’t hold any malice towards him, the only thing that seems unnerving to him is the valkyrie, because of the emotional conflict he had with her name, and something unknown but disturbing, which he didn’t have any idea about. The vice principal was likely pissed that something like this even happened under his supervision.

Axel asked nonchalantly, "So, is the situation so serious?"
