Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 143: Silent Rebellion
Chapter 143: Silent Rebellion
Heinz opted to ask him another question, "You didn’t tell Lumina that your childhood love’s name was Sophia, right?"
"Of course not, that would make a whole other train of unnecessary drama and maybe some implications with the valkyrie as well, it could make the entire situation more complicated," stated Axel in exasperation.
"Okay, let’s not talk about that anymore today. Tell me one thing, though," added Heinz. Axel nudged him to continue.
"You didn’t make that show out of a mere weapon selling just for no reason, right?" guessed Heinz.
A subtle smile appeared on his face hearing the guess of his closest friend, and his best friend could just tell by his smile that it was indeed the truth. Axel revealed, "Indeed, there were a few reasons for it."
"Showcasing everyone the value of my weapons, thus increasing my own demand, the more my influence increases, the more desperate they will get, the ones who are against me. This, from the next time, will allow me to form private connections with various future important figures, as everyone will now try to acquire such weapons from me in private."
"The academy itself is a political playground, just on a smaller level, that is all. I would only sell a small amount of my rune-engraved weapons in the open; most of them will be sold privately. These connections are things I can take advantage of in the future. To get my family back to the top."
There was another bigger reason for all this, something more immediate and necessary, which is why he was spreading his rune-engraved weapons to as many students as possible. Not that he could reveal that reason in the first place.
"So, that was the reason why you were so driven and focused, I did guess it somewhat, but wasn’t entirely sure of it," exclaimed Heinz in understanding.
Axel turned towards his friend and said with a trace of desperation, "Brother, soon something might happen, and I will need you at that time."
Heinz frowned at the statement and looked at Axel. he clearly understood that Heinz was asking about what would happen. Axel shook his head. Looking at him, he couldn’t say it. Heinz wanted to rebuke him on that note, but decided not to, seeing his serious face. In the end, he contained his curiosity and said with a smile, "Always, brother."
**
Axel was standing right outside his apartment. Some workers were working in it. He had requested the academy to make him an engraving chamber and a forgery, right inside his apartment; he had more than enough money to pay for the services. As always, because of the 50% discount, he only needed to pay half of the actual price.
A voice asked from right beside him, with overflowing mockery, "So, what is the romantic hero planning? How are you planning to free the lovely Lumina from his evil brother’s hands?"
Axel glanced at the person; it was obviously Lucien. The guy was utterly furious when he came to know of the rumors that had spread about Axel, Lumina, and himself. The guy went batshit crazy and immediately interrogated his sister about it, she explained things as much as possible that they are now good friends as some misunderstandings were cleared up.
Lucien could easily tell she wasn’t revealing everything, so he pressed, but to no avail. Lumina would absolutely not reveal such personal information about Axel to anyone else, not even his brother, for that matter. So, the guy came here directly to question him.
Axel sighed and said, "Let’s go to the roof, there’s too much noise here."
Lucien snorted but did not say anything and simply followed behind. As they reached the roof of the building, both of them gazed at the beautiful ocean in the distance. For a moment, he was enjoying the utterly breathtaking view, but the annoying voice of Prince Lucien broke him out of his stupor.
"So?" stated Lucien with obvious annoyance. Not interested in the beauty of nature in the slightest.
Axel looked at him with hollow eyes and asked, "Sigh, must you really be such a perverted sis-con?"
"You bastard...!!!!!!!!!" raged Lucien at that statement.
Unfortunately for him, Axel wasn’t in the mood to entertain his antics, so he stated flatly, "If you want to know the details, I’m sorry, you won’t know anything. This is personal between me and Lumina. If you keep her sheltered and overprotective like this, it will do more harm than good to her in the long run."
"You won’t always be there to protect her, Lucien. It’s fine here in a controlled environment like the academy, but outside? Not a chance."
Lucien’s furious expression disappeared and again a calculating and a heavy but peering look appeared on his face, he kept staring at Axel with cold eyes, for a moment, Axel almost thought he had seen Lucien’s irises turn to slits, as if a dragon was gazing down on him from above, inspecting him mockingly, his demon bloodline though didn’t take that gesture well, almost like it could automatically detect the mocking gaze of a dragon.
The demon bloodline in Axel almost went berserk in fury, his runic eyes almost activated on their own, and boundless rage invaded his entire mind, something ancient, something sinister and disturbing roared in his mind with calamitous fury, ’How dare a mere lizard dare to look down on me!!!’
But with a powerful will of his own, he immediately shut down the rebellion of his demon bloodline. Lucien’s frosty and condescending gaze wavered for a moment as he blinked a few times in surprise. For a moment, he seemed confused, then shook his head. Axel didn’t entirely understand what was going through the head of the prince.
The same nonchalant and friendly smile appeared on Lucien’s face, the same as before. he shrugged and said, "Well, I suppose you’re right. I’ll just let her handle her own thing."
Axel nodded, "Well, you said you wanted a personal weapon custom-engraved for you?"
Lucien’s eyes immediately lit up in excitement, "Yes, yes, yes, that’s right, I definitely need a personalized rune-engraved weapon. I tested your made tools and I must say they are a piece of art, though your forging is still quite lacking, but the runecasting makes up for it in more than one way, truly great stuff without a doubt."
Axel smirked involuntarily, hearing that, he was so very used to this bastard’s constant insults because of his lack of talent in forging, that hearing the sudden praises put an arrogant smile on his face.
He said with obvious pride, "Of course, because I’m the best runecaster."
"And the worst forger," added Lucien with a chuckle. Axel snorted and got down to the business, "So, how do you want it? I presume you would do the forging, and I will only engrave runes in it?"
"Yes, I will forge and show you, I will tell you all the details then, since it depends a lot on how I actually do the forging and what results come out of it. So, I can’t say anything about it for the moment, before doing all of that."
