Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch-Chapter 50: End Of The First Incident (1)
Petrick stared at him cautiously, sensing the mana flowing around the young man’s body.
With a cold smile, Petrick said, "...So you actually came... Damien."
The young man didn’t reply immediately. He simply adjusted his grip on the sword and took a step forward.
With a cold expression, Damien asked, "It seems you know me. Let me ask you... who are you? And why did you do all this?"
His hazel eyes pierced into Petrick’s now black eyes.
Petrick didn’t back down; instead, he giggled. With a mocking expression, he said, "Why do you need to know? When you are going to die?" He held the daggers firmly.
Damien didn’t feel intimidated by him. With the same confident voice, he continued, "Was there really any reason for you to kill so many students? What have they done to you? What animosity did you have towards them... towards us?"
Behind him, Noah struggled to stay conscious, his vision fading, but he could still see the back of the man who had just saved his life.
Petrick smirked and said, "Oh boy... you are mistaking something here... I didn’t come here because I had some ulterior motive or animosity against anyone."
Damien’s expression turned angry as he raised his voice. "Then why are you here?!"
Petrick chuckled and said, "I do not find any reason to tell you. Hehe."
He got ready to attack Damien.
Damien also raised his sword to fight.
Just then, a blue line formed in the air, moving in the direction of Petrick. An arrow shot at Petrick from afar, and he slashed it with his dagger.
Suddenly Draven closed the distance with him and attacked Petrick from behind.
The huge battle axe swung horizontally to bisect him.
With an annoyed expression, Petrick said, "Tch! Annoying pests!"
Petrick jumped high and dodged the strike. From his left, a lightning spear came with a crackling sound. It was a spell shot by Regnar.
Both Regnar and Draven hadn’t given up yet. They were still willing to fight.
While Arisha had come and was attacking the man from some distance away, protecting both Regnar and Draven from fatal attacks.
Watching that Arisha had joined in, Damien exhaled a deep breath. He let the three handle this for a while and turned to Noah.
Noah shook his head a few times so he could keep himself awake. Then he slowly pushed himself up onto his feet.
Damien helped him to stand.
With ragged breathing, Noah said, "Th-Thanks, Damien... for helping me in time."
To which Damien simply replied calmly, "No problem. I did what was right."
Noah looked toward Petrick, who was beating Draven and Regnar easily, and said with anger, "Now... go kill that bastard... he killed so many people."
Damien’s expression hardened. "Noah... the thing is... I cannot use my mana for a while. Because I used my ability. It’s a side effect of that. Even my body is strained and exhausted. Stopping that heavy strike of that man to save you was too hard for me to handle."
Noah’s eyes widened in shock.
"You..."
Now Noah remembered the bright light coming from that side.
’So it was him using his ability... in the character list it was actually written that he had side effects after using his ability. Damn! So he used his ability... and now he cannot fight Petrick,’ Noah thought gravely.
His bloodied mouth clenched.
"Damn!.. we need help from others then..."
Damien looked toward the battlefield and said, "They seem busy fighting monsters... we need to kill that man ourselves."
Noah looked at him and asked, "Can you fight him physically?"
Damien grimaced, then nodded. "I could try... it’s risky."
Noah rubbed his forehead, trying to think of a way to kill that man.
Then he shook his head.
"Okay... I guess... we could try that..."
Damien frowned slightly. "What try?"
"Well... it’s sloppy... and very low chance to succeed..."
Damien spoke seriously, "It doesn’t matter... just tell me."
Noah then explained, "Firstly... you guys need to hold Petrick for a while. It seems he is burning his life force to use more power. But I think with how much strength he is using... it might take fifteen to twenty minutes for him to exhaust his life force."
Then Noah told him the simple plan in short.
Damien looked at him with some doubt and asked, "You... so you really think you can do it?"
Noah leaned his back against the wall for support and said, "Yes... I can do it."
Damien looked at him and asked, "Why do you believe so much that you can do it?"
Noah clenched his teeth and said, "Because I really want to kill that man... no matter what... even if it doesn’t kill him really."
Damien nodded. "Okay... I will tell this to Regnar. Get ready for it... as fast as possible. And give me a sign."
Noah nodded. "Thanks for believing in me," he said tiredly, still trying to keep himself up.
His body was in too much pain. Blood was still coming out from his wounds.
Ribs broken inside. Bruises all over his body.
Damien then said seriously, "We have to do... whatever will help us to get out."
Damien turned and slowly moved toward the fight. With his sword raised, he started to run toward Petrick.
Noah pulled something out from his storage ring.
It was a scroll. The one given by Instructor Morgana to learn magic spells from it.
The spell was simple and easy. But now learning it in one go was truly hard.
He opened the scroll and saw the magic spell pattern.
He held it with his left hand and put his right palm on it. His mana started to flow inside the scroll slowly.
The mana particles from his body moved through the spell slowly, following the lines of the pattern.
Noah observed them, he studied them, he tried to memorize the structure and pathways. He tried it multiple times.
It was hard. The flow trembled from time to time. Not going stable and perfect.
It was harder than Noah initially thought.
But he got the basic idea about the spell.
He remembered the structure of the magic circle perfectly.
What he didn’t know was at what speed, intensity, and in what amount mana should be supplied.
He also didn’t know how to keep it stable when he had never truly practiced it before.
But none of that mattered.
He would succeed, no matter what.
’Now it’s time to kill that bastrad.’
He moved toward the fight.
