Extra's Descent-Chapter 320: Wyvern [3]
"You done over there, Sis?"
"Yeah, that should be the last one."
Belle, who pulled out her sword of a monster, casually replied as she wiped the smeared blood off her cheek.
"Okay, give me a minute."
"Seriously, why are you taking your time?"
She asked.
"I'm just testing things out. Can't have things fail once it actually matters, right?"
While Brandon's body still ached all over, it was at a level where he could manage just fine.
His eyes narrowed, staring at the cursed pathways paved out for him.
Swoosh—!
With a single thought, Brandon instantly traversed the mist and sheathed his sword back in the scabbard on his waist.
"Alright, I'm done."
"Hm?"
Brandon casually walked ahead and Belle tilted her head in confusion.
Dumbfounded, her brows raised.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
Heads started rolling on the floor belatedly, blood gushing out of the headless necks until the bodies stumbled.
"Let's go, Sis. They could be having a hard time."
"...."
Belle dismissively shook her head thereafter and rushed towards Brandon's side.
She needed no explanation for what had just transpired.
She should've been used to the sight by now after clearing the stampeding monsters for an hour or so. Mostly, Brandon was just testing his newfound abilities.
But still, it was baffling.
To say the least.

It was utter chaos.
Even with the presence of over eighty class A students, followed by seventy class B students, just keeping the wyvern at bay exerted a substantial amount of strength.
So much so, that everyone found themselves exhausted. Cadets switched out, but the cadets that switched were them had barely recuperated.
For that reason, their barrages of attacks had been slowing down as more time passed.
Clank—!
"We're losing morale…."
Amelia frowned as she tossed the broken sword on the ground.
They had launched multiple charges against the wyvern, but their efforts had proven futile each time.
"Press forth!"
However, they remained hopeful. Clearly, their attacks were working. It may have taken an uncountable amount of attempts. But the continuous heavy barrage of attacks had damaged the wyvern.
Amelia surmised that they had taken over thirty percent of the wyvern's health, evident by the chipped scales and its movements slowing down.
All under two hours.
What they needed to do now was to persist.
"General Amelia!"
One of the leaders of class A exclaimed.
"We need a new strategy. We're losing more and more cadets!"
Amelia nodded, her mind racing.
They couldn't afford to lose momentum now.
"I know. We need to keep it focused on the frontlines. If we can buy some time for the cadets in the rear to recuperate, we might be able to launch a coordinated assault."
"Easier said than done."
Another cadet grimaced, glaring at the weary cadets around them.
"Tsk."
Amelia clenched her fists, frustrated by the lack of progress. Despite the damage they had inflicted on the beast, it felt like a small victory compared to the number of cadets lying on the ground, struggling to recover.
"Everyone! Form defensive lines and keep the pressure on!"
Amelia ordered, hoping to reignite the fighting spirit among the cadets, despite the fact that she too was exhausted. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"Understood!"
"Understood…."
The cadets obeyed, albeit with less vigor than before.

They moved into position, mages in the back launching spells while the duelists continued to hack away at the wyvern's legs.
—Hwooooooar!
It roared in defiance, swiping its tail in a wide arc that sent a handful of cadets sprawling.
Amelia's heart sank. They were running out of time…. and energy.
Tzz—!
Surprisingly, out of all the duelists and mages present, the one who seemed to have an infinite amount of stamina was the woman with purple hair, wielding a rapier.
It was Claire, who had just charged heavily, colliding with the wyvern.
Her attacks, while providing not as much damage as Amelia's, served as diversion.
Claire's attacks dealt heavy blows, forcing the wyvern to recoil, unable to attack.
Boom—!
It was also followed by another cadet, with most probably, the highest destructive output.
Flames shot from his fiery bow, intertwining with an icy blast, the two forces merging into a spiraling vortex of hellfire. Their combined attack struck the wyvern with devastating force, causing the beast to stagger under the impact.
It was none other than Reinhard and Rachel.
'They deserve a promotion….'
From Amelia's perspective, Rachel, Reinhard, Amy, and Claire deserved to be promoted to the higher class. Class A.
They, who were class B students, had contributed the most out of all their classmates, even more than some class A students.
Especially Claire and Amy.
The two stood out the most with their flashy attacks, catching everyone's attention each time.
Amidst the barrage of attacks, Amy moved with fluid grace, her water magic rippling through the air. Streams of water coiled around her like a serpent.
Swoosh—!
With a single gesture, Amy summoned a massive surge of water from the atmosphere, compressing it into a high-pressure stream that sliced through the wyvern's defenses.
The water twisted and turned as though alive, crashing into the beast with the force of a tidal wave.
Furthermore, Amy seemed to be tactically aware, using her affinity to support her comrades as well.
When the wyvern's tail lashed out in retaliation, Amy responded instantly, creating a barrier of condensed water that absorbed the blow, shielding her allies from the impact.
Her water magic was versatile—offensive, defensive, and adaptive to the flow of battle.
On the other hand, Claire's rapier glinted as she surged forward, her speed almost impossible to follow.
The battlefield seemed to blur around her as she closed the gap between her and the wyvern, her body surrounded by arcs of purple lightning.
Tzz—!
Each step she took left a trail of crackling energy in her wake, the sheer speed of her movements making her appear as a streak of light across the battlefield.
All sorts of magic spiraled through the air as the battle raged on. The once-exhausted cadets, who had barely managed to recover, continued pressing on.
Elemental spells—fire, ice, wind, and lightning—intertwined above the battlefield, raining down upon the wyvern.
The air crackled with the force of their combined magic, each cadet pushing beyond their limits to contribute whatever strength they had left.
Gritting their teeth, the mages in the backline continued to unleash volleys of spells.
Swoosh– Swoosh— Swoosh——!
Fireballs streaked across the sky, colliding with blasts of wind as their destructive powers amplified. Ice shards shot through the air, freezing the wyvern's exposed wounds, while bolts of lightning arced from mage to mage.
"Just a bit more…."
