"Darn it you foxy vixen!"

-Fwoosh!

Following the release of those words from his mouth, Aiden upon landing on another tree branch jumped to the next in an instant, narrowly evading an arrow that was shot by one of his pursuers.

-Swish!

Upon narrowly evading the arrow, Aiden promptly dashed back out of the forest and onto the expansive grassy fields again, still with Caroline in his arms who was currently giggling mischievously after the stunt she pulled.

Aiden without minding her current antics, watched as up to ten male cadets dashed after him, all of them surrounding him in an instant and ready to use their spells against him.

"Caroline, I hope you aren’t afraid of heights?" Aiden suddenly said to the lady in his arms.

Without even waiting for her to respond or to understand the reasoning behind his words, Aiden instantly coated her entire body with mana and threw her up into the air, much to her bewilderment.

Caroline who had now being thrown up into the air and had expected herself to start falling back down at any moment from now, watched as she kept slowly floating upwards instead.

’Did he use a spell on me during that split time?’ she curiously wondered to herself with an excited smile, her eyes glancing downwards to spot her supposed captor, retrieving his greatsword from his spatial ring.

Aiden after surprising his attackers by throwing his victim up into the air and retrieving his greatsword, all in matter of seconds, stuck his weapon to the ground and instantly, did a swift circular spin, his greatsword digging into the ground in the same motion.

This motion of his, sprayed enough dirt and grass around, along with a strong pressurized wind to block the view of and push back his attackers who had switched their focus to Caroline who was continuously floating upwards into the air.

In that single moment that they had all took off their attention from Aiden and had instead focused on hopefully catching Caroline, the youth ensured to make the best usage of it, instantly halting all of their spells and attacks which were about to overwhelm him.

Now, upon pushing back his opponents and giving himself a bit of breathing space, the youth returned his greatsword, tensed his calves and then, dashed back into the air while simultaneously de-activating the spell he cast on Caroline.

Upon gently catching her at mid-air, Aiden heaved a sigh of relief while Caroline quickly told him something.

"Fun fact Aiden. I actually love heights!" she told him, her voice almost euphoric.

"Oh yeah! Well I might just keep employing the same tactic then!" he replied immediately, a hint of urgency in his tone as beads of sweat continuously formed on his forehead.

As Aiden began to fall downwards to the ground with Caroline, he had noticed that the rest of the cadets pursuing him had now gathered beneath him as he fell, almost as if they were planning to attack him the moment his feet touched the ground.

"C’mon Aiden!" one of his classmates called out to him.

"You have nowhere to run now villain!" one cadet said with a victorious grin.

"Just drop Caroline yeah and we’ll all be good" another cadet uttered, his expression greedy.

In response to this though, a smug smirk appeared on Aiden’s lips.

Just a few meters before his feet reached the heads of the cadets below him, Aiden used a spell.

’[Gravity Series: Reversal]’

Internally chanting the spell and cancelling it almost immediately, Aiden dashed and propelled himself forward at mid-air, almost as if his legs landed on an invisible platform, surprising the cadets who had been below him, the rush of wind caused by his sudden dash ruffling their hairs.

Upon landing further away and safely from his pursuers, Caroline said to him with a smile.

"That was splendid Aiden…" she said, and almost immediately she added a few more words.

"And now it’s time I did my job as the victim again by screa-"

Before Caroline could complete her sentence though, Aiden dashed backwards, skidding a few meters as a circular vial of potion landed on where he previously was.

-Boom!!!

Following this mini explosion, Aiden swiftly raised his head up, already knowing who it was without even having to look.

"Yo Ivar…" Aiden said calmly, his lips curling into a small smile.

"Hey Aiden…" Ivar calmly replied too, a small smile on his face too.

"To be fair, I never expected for the potion to actually hit you in the first place…" Ivar quickly added while staring at Aiden, one of his hands summoning another potion from his spatial ring while the other held onto the handle of the big hammer resting on his shoulders.

"Well, you will have to put in more effort if you’re planning to save the victim…" Aiden replied casually while standing up properly, Caroline still in his arms.

In response to those words from Aiden, Ivar inwardly chanted a spell.

’[Earth Series: Earthgrasp]!’

Following his chanted spell, a giant humanoid hand the size of a small car manifested from the ground, it’s body made up of a mix of rocky textures and sands as it moved according to Ivar’s mental commands, almost as if gaining sentience of its own.

Aiden in respond to this, gave a slight exhilarated smile as he watched the giant earthen hand curl into a large fist, ready to attack at a moment’s notice.

"Oooh! This is going to be fun!" the ruby-eyed lady stated gleefully as she watched both friends sizing each other up, tension so palpable in the air one could almost taste it.

***

Currently, at the other side of the training grounds which had now become a crazy battlefield for the first year cadets, the A-class cadets who were protecting their crystal were currently pushing back their own villains.

This feat was possible mostly due to one particular lady with a unique shade of orange and blue irises.

Flynn watched as Ivelia stood on top of their crystal while grinning at him triumphantly, the other cadets surrounding her maintaining a three layered barrier while the other cadets attacked them.

She had spilled so much reactive explosive potions around them in random circular patches on the ground just before the barriers were made and as a result, the area surrounding their crystal was almost similar to a small minefield.

Considering the rules never stated that potions could not be used, Ivelia had used it to her utmost advantage, making it insanely hard for the villains to even come close to the barriers, talk less of even using their weapons to try to break through the barrier.

And as if that wasn’t enough, she would also either summon a strong earthen wall to protect any attacks from destroying the crystal in case they broke through the barrier or cause a localized earthquake with her new [Tremor] spell in an effort to cause their attacks to be thrown off.

"Who knew alchemists could be this terrifying…" Adrian said to Flynn, his eyes scanning his surroundings for any possible gaps in the heroes’ defense.

"Oh they can be really terrifying but even then, Ivelia’s just a different breed" Flynn responded with a proud smile, beads of sweat dripping from his face as his unsheathed katana slashed a cadet that was about to attack him.

"Are you complementing her in this scenario?!" Beatrice quickly asked, a hint of disbelief in her tone as she deflected another cadet’s attack with her rapier, simultaneously landing a knee strike to his abdomen.

"I have to give credit where credit’s due…" Flynn replied, his mana slates continuously slamming forcefully into the first layered barrier and trying to destroy it.

"Aren’t you just being biased towards her at this point?!" Adrian added, a sly smile adorning his face, all while parrying the attacks of two cadets simultaneously and swiftly counterattacking with two successive slashes.

Flynn just scoffed in response to his words but soon enough, he had his attention focused on a particular male youth who attacked him with two of his daggers.

"Hey there blondie. Was wondering when you’d show up…" Flynn mockingly said to Lucas with a relaxed smile as he clashed his saya against the two daggers the youth was holding.

He seemed so angered for some reason and Flynn’s mockery of him coupled with that relaxed smile he was sporting angered him even more.

"Flynn!!!" he spoke through a seethed tone of anger.

Following those words, Lucas and Flynn exchanged about a flurry of twenty rapid attacks in roughly ten seconds.

Lucas however in those few seconds, quickly realized that Flynn wasn’t even taking him seriously.

It was almost as if he was even thinking about something else despite him constantly attacking him.

In a fit of increased annoyance, the youth used his [Blitz] spell, immediately disappearing and appearing behind Flynn in an instant while bringing down his twin daggers in a single downward strike.

But even then, Flynn just merely twirled around on his feet skillfully and used the scabbard of his katana to block Lucas’s attack, almost as if he had anticipated the blonde youth’s attack beforehand.

Just like this, the dynamics of their attacks continued with Lucas continuously feeling like he could find no gaps in Flynn’s defense.

Flynn, despite being constantly assaulted by Lucas’s attack, knew that the rules set from the sudden exercise would prevent Lucas from actually using any destructive spells and therefore, he didn’t need to bother too much about him.

Lucas on the other hand, despite even knowing that he was two tiers higher than Flynn with his core rank, soon realized that when it came to pure weapon combat, Flynn outclassed him in every way.

’Again! Again I’m made to feel like I’m weaker than him!’ Lucas inwardly shouted, his face contorting into a pained expression.

The silvery-green haired youth he was currently referring to however, was having a few internal monologues of his own.

’This exercise… the villains are way smaller when compared to the heroes…’

’Roughly one villain for about ten heroes…’

’Guess we’ll need more numbers if we’re going to have any chance of destroying that crystal…’

’Hmmm… in that case…’

Following the conclusion of his thoughts, Flynn sported a slightly devious grin as he came up with a way to destroy the crystal Ivelia and the other cadets were protecting.
