"Pft! Hahahaha!!!" Aiden burst out into a hearty laughter the moment he saw the sudden quest pop up on his smartwatch along with several other first-year cadets walking in the beautiful hallways.

"Sigh… what the hell did he do this time?" Flynn couldn’t help but ask with a sigh as he also viewed his own smartwatch too.

"I have no idea but whatever it was that he did or whoever it was that he offended, must’ve really been annoyed with his antics" Aiden replied with another burst of laughter.

"So glad I made a new batch of popcorns today! I’m taking a detour Flynn. Need to see how this plays out" the black-haired youth added with an amused grin, turning by the corner of the opulent hallway that led out to the student center.

"I’m also coming along. I’m curious as to how he’s planning to overcome this one" Flynn replied and followed suit.

The time was 1:35pm and it was also the usual time for their lunchbreak so most cadets were already out of their classes and at the cafeteria.

Aiden and Flynn had been discussing something regarding how they needed to find a faster way to train the second form of their weapon arts and had ended up staying in class for a bit longer when the lunchbreak session came while most of the cadets, their friends included, had already left the class.

Reaching the student center, Aiden and Flynn heard a shout from one of the cadets who was also searching for Derek, his tone dripping with anger.

"There he is on the training field guys! We finally have a chance to get payback for the entrance exams! Get him!"

Following this bellowing shout, every cadet who still had a grudge against Derek even after two and a half weeks of being enrolled at the academy, rushed towards the field to confront the brown-haired youth.

"Oh! Even better!" Aiden gleefully exclaimed as he also dashed towards the field, Flynn trailing just behind him.

Upon reaching the training field where they themselves had previously had their Crystal Shattering Exercise, Flynn and Aiden watched as a good number of cadets that numbered in around one hundred, rushed towards the brown-haired youth who was walking leisurely despite the incoming horde of angry and greedy cadets rushing towards him.

Sitting on one of the ornate benches placed at the tail edges of the field’s sidelines, Aiden retrieved his popcorn with an amused grin on his face, Flynn following suit once again.

"Oh this is going to be fun!" Aiden said excitedly, one of his hand offering the box of popcorn to Flynn.

"You mean they’re going to have their asses handed to them don’t you?" Flynn responded while taking a handful of popcorn.

"Shh! It’s starting!" Aiden gestured to his brother with a slight wave of his other free hand.

Derek on the other hand, who was casually walking closer towards the horde of angry first-year cadets and their destructive released spells coming for him, couldn’t help but mutter to himself with a slight tinge of annoyance.

"I was only late by an hour so what’s with this darn scenario?!"

"Dammit Sophia! I’ll definitely get you for this!" the youth cursed under his breath.

"But then again, you guys surely didn’t think you stood a chance against me just because of your numbers right?!" Derek spoke aloud this time, enough for everyone charging towards him to hear him clearly.

The moment those words left his mouth, Derek retrieved a Desert Eagle from his spatial ring while chanting a spell.

"[Wind Series: Sylph’s Playground]"

Immediately, a gigantic dome of invisibility spread across the vast expanse of the training field that was about the size and length of three standard stadium fields.

Following this, the cadets watched as all their released spells disappeared into nothingness in an instant, deep perplexity washing over all of their faces.

"What! What the hell is going on?!" some cadets shouted in utter confusion.

"I can’t… I can’t even feel any mana in the air!" another cadet shouted.

’Yeah… that’s one nasty spell…’ Flynn inwardly commented with another sigh as he watched the cadets who thought they had the upper hand, falter in their advance towards Derek.

Before they could completely make head or tails about what was going on though, Derek was already attacking without mercy.

-Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Nine bullets were let loose from the weapon in his hand with ridiculously pinpoint accuracies, each of them hitting each cadet at the center of their foreheads with enough force to knock them out in an instant.

"Arrgh!"

"Kah!"

"Shhhiiittt…!!!"

Those were the groans of pain every cadet the mana-infused rubber bullets of his weapon collided with, let out as they collapsed to the ground instantaneously with loud thuds.

A wary wave of silence washed over all of the attacking first year cadets as they all involuntarily took small steps backwards, Derek maliciously and imposingly advancing ever closer to them by the second.

Of course they would be scared of the senior before them!

Despite thinking, they would have the advantage against him in numbers, their senior was putting an indelible mark of fear in their hearts.

’He took out nine cadets in three seconds!’ one cadet inwardly screamed in fear.

And not only that, they were unable to even use mana to attack him and neither could they feel any mana in their body presently, all as a result of the nasty wind spell he had used.

It was almost as if mana never even existed in the current state they were in.

’Hmmm?’ Derek who couldn’t care less about the remaining ninety-something cadets who were still left, pondered to himself.

’Three seconds huh? Guess I’ve gotten rusty’ the handsome brown-haired youth thought to himself.

’Not that it matters though’ he inwardly concluded as he began to reload the gun.

"Why are you all so scared?! There’s only one of him and we still number in the nineties!" one female cadet shouted, shaking everyone out of their state of fear.

The attacking cadets then instinctively began to rationally think once again.

Wasn’t it true?!

At the end of the day, didn’t they outnumber him?!

The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.

No matter how powerful a person was, wouldn’t an overwhelming number trump them?!

So why exactly, were they scared of a single youth wo was even using a gun nonetheless?!

Following this, the cadets began to rile themselves up to attack once again.

"Yeah! Don’t you want those credits?!"

"Don’t you want to at least get a bit of revenge?!"

"C’mon what are you waiting for?!"

"Shake off your fear and attack!"

With renewed spirit, the cadets shook off their state of fear and once again, proceeded to attack Derek.

"Oh they’re in for a world of hurt" Aiden muttered to himself while munching on his popcorn with a small laughter, his legs crossed and his back reclined onto the ornate white bench.

During all the time the attacking cadets had been talking, contemplating and motivating themselves, Derek who had been leisurely reloading his weapon with another round of mana-infused rubber bullets while slowly advancing towards them, now twirled the weapon in one of his hands while outstretching the other hand, another Desert Eagle appearing in it from his other spatial ring.

"He has two?!" an attacking cadet who was charging in front muttered in disbelief and in a split second, found himself collapsed onto the ground with a heavy thud along with seventeen other cadets.

"I’m all out of bullets" Derek muttered to himself as one cadet lunged forward to attack him, his tonfa nearly about to descend on him.

-Crunch… Bam!!

At a speed inconceivable to the eye, a punch landed on the cadet’s face, sending him hurtling backwards and crashing into several other cadets like a domino effect.

Without giving them time to react, the third-year cadet summoned a weapon that made very single cadet on the field gulp and shudder in fear.

A Scythe!

A Fucking Scythe!

That was the weapon presently in Derek’s hands as he swung it immediately in a beautiful and destructive wide arc, sending every cadet in the vicinity flying backwards with a ridiculously powerful burst of wind.

The attacking cadets watched in horror as more than half of their forces were knocked out in an instant, all of them flying around like flaying nylons in the air.

"What the hell are you Derek?! A Grim Reaper!" Aiden suddenly shouted to the youth with a hearty laughter from across the field.

"Oh? You were also here you twerps. Not gonna join in on the fun?!" he asked from across the field with a shout of his own.

"What do you mean ’not gonna join in’?! I’m having plenty fun here watching this entire thing play out as is" Aiden replied with another shout.

Both Derek who was on the field, along with Flynn who was seated beside Aiden, just shook their heads with a sigh of resignation at Aiden’s words.

Shaking his head one more time at Aiden’s antics, Derek turned his gaze back towards the rest of the twenty-something cadets who were left, the pole of the large scythe now resting on his shoulders and an ’innocent’ smile on his face as he asked gently.

"Now that I’ve crushed your dreams, broken your spirits and scarred your souls, would you graciously allow me to get to my destination?"

The rest of the cadets without even being told, all nodded affirmatively in an instant, parting the way for him and allowing for the brown-haired youth to pass by without any issues.

With a sigh, Derek returned his scythe to his spatial ring and leisurely began to make his way to the student council office, all while telling himself the he’d definitely get back at Sophia for this.
