Chapter 1300: Chapter 1298: Different Lives

After Bi Bi finished mumbling, she lifted her head, raised an eyebrow, and revealed a bright gaze: "Of course I understood, it’s simple, isn’t it? After saying so much, you’re just trying to say this thing you made... hmm... is very strong and very hard."

Actually, that’s probably all you understood... Richard couldn’t help but grumble inwardly... But come to think of it, that really is the key point.

"Yes." Richard nodded, not denying it, "It is indeed very strong and very hard."

"How strong and how hard is it?" Bi Bi looked curious.

"It’s definitely stronger than you think."

"Then... can I try it?"

"Hmm?"

"Try it." Bi Bi made a motion of simulating a strike.

"Go ahead." Richard sighed lightly and said.

"Alright! You said it yourself, don’t go back on your word like before, and if it’s damaged, I don’t have to pay for it." Bi Bi said, turned around, and left. Within a few minutes, she came back with a bunch of stuff. There was wood, stone, iron rods, and all kinds of miscellaneous items, not sure where she found them.

"I’m going to start testing!" Bi Bi looked at Richard and said.

Richard exhaled lightly, gesturing for her to proceed.

Bi Bi was no longer polite, picked up the wood, and struck hard at the barrier floating in mid-air that Richard created.

"Slap!"

With a sound, Bi Bi used a lot of force, and the wood instantly flattened, but the barrier was not damaged at all, not even a fluctuation.

Bi Bi blinked, not surprised; she had anticipated this result. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have brought so many things. The next moment, without hesitation, she discarded the wood, picked up a stone, and struck again at the barrier.

"Crash!"

This time, Bi Bi used even more force, directly shattering the stone into dust, yet the barrier remained intact.

Bi Bi pursed her lips, her interest piqued, and picked up the iron rod to strike with full force.

"Crunch!"

When the iron rod hit the barrier, it snapped in two due to the enormous force. The lower half continued to rest in Bi Bi’s hand, while the upper half spun away and embedded into the wall with a "thud."

Bi Bi was genuinely a bit astonished, feeling that the barrier’s degree of sturdiness was indeed higher than she anticipated. Not quite convinced, she picked up the remaining miscellaneous items and struck at the barrier, but to no avail; none could affect it.

"It really is hard," Bi Bi finally said, but her expression still showed dissatisfaction, her eyes glued to the barrier, eager to try again.

Richard glanced at Bi Bi and asked, "What, do you still want to test it? But you’ve already tried everything you brought."

"Not yet, there’s one more thing." Bi Bi said, standing in front of the barrier, took a slow breath, puffed her cheeks, and clenched her fists.

"You’re not thinking of using your fist, are you? I advise you to be rational..." Richard couldn’t help speaking, but before he finished, Bi Bi had already moved.

"Yah!"

Bi Bi shouted, stepped forward, and fiercely punched forward.

The speed and strength of this punch immediately made the surroundings echo with an air explosion, followed by a dull "thud" as Bi Bi’s fist solidly hit the barrier.

Time seemed to suddenly pause, with Bi Bi standing still in place.

One second, two seconds, three seconds...

A full three seconds later, Bi Bi retracted her fist, tightly pursed her lips, her face flushed, and with a bit of grimacing, she spoke, "Really solid... really hurts..."

How could it not be solid, how could it not hurt... Richard couldn’t help but shake his head inwardly... This barrier was meant as the latest defense method, able to block even high-circle magic, let alone pure physical impact... Recognizing reality is most important...

"Alright, you know it’s solid and know it hurts, so stop testing it. Go back to Eden, I have more work to do." Richard tried to persuade her.

"Okay." Bi Bi seemed really upset and without arguing, turned and walked out of the garden.

However, when she got to the doorway, as if she thought of something, her steps halted, and she turned back around again.

"What are you doing?" Richard asked curiously.

Bi Bi didn’t speak, but as she approached, her pace quickened and her speed increased.

"Tap tap tap..." The next moment, Bi Bi’s whole figure blurred, then she headed straight for the barrier with her head.

"Thump!"

A louder dull thud sounded, and Bi Bi’s entire body stiffened, sitting down forcefully on the ground.

If it were an ordinary person, their head would probably already be inside their chest. Even for Bi Bi, she took quite a while to stand up, pale-faced, swaying unsteadily.

Richard looked at Bi Bi, a bit helplessly.

Bi Bi seemed lost, touched her reddened forehead, and with pursed lips, dejectedly said, "Alright, now I really know it’s solid, and it really hurts... I really should go back to Eden..."

Saying that, Bi Bi turned and walked out of the garden.

Watching Bi Bi’s figure disappear, Richard spread his hands, unable to hold back a slight chuckle in his heart. Then he bore a serious expression, performing various tests on the generated barrier according to his own ideas.

"Boom, boom..."

Sound continually emerged from the garden.

The tests proceeded very smoothly, completed soon thereafter. Richard then followed his own train of thought, starting the next step in his research.

For Richard, his current life was leisurely yet fulfilling, sometimes feeling no different from being in Farlo City.

In his view, this was the right way, this lifestyle was quite nice.

...

In stark contrast was the command room within Grey Stone City, not far from Richard’s residence.

Within the command room, lots of personnel came and went, and there was a continuous flow of information processing and command transmission.

Among them, Soron stood in front of a sandtable in the command room, his red eyes fixated on the complex situation depicted, continuously speaking: "Order the First Corps to speed up their march, while leaving the Eighth Legion to garrison and maintain order in Xino City, and have the Third Legion move towards Salster City, probing the enemy’s strength through provocations and other means, but avoid getting into real combat, wait for reinforcements to arrive..."

"Order the Second Corps to quickly clear out the remnants, instruct the Glory Shield Legion to advance and try to breach a gap in the enemy’s new defense line..."

"Order the Third Corps to regroup with the other troops within the scheduled time..."

"Order..."

Soron paused, then turned to his subordinates, firing rapid questions.

"Where is the Black Gun Magic Knight Group now? Have they eliminated their targets? Go investigate and report back as soon as possible."

"Can logistics supply the one million arrows needed at the frontline? How many days will it take to deliver, go and urge them, find out!"

"Has the broken bridge on the Harper River been repaired yet, the team has been waiting for half a day, go and ask. If it still can’t be done, make the person in charge leave and replace them. If that still doesn’t work, send out Wizards and have them create a makeshift road over the river with magic that can hold for three days."

"And..."

Soron kept busy, only getting a chance to rest after a long while, but only to briefly close his eyes in the chair before getting up and throwing himself back into work.

Evidently, he’s extremely busy, even busier than Richard. But in his view, only such busyness brings him peace of mind, allowing him to feel in control of the war.

This is his daily life, and also his pursuit.

He feels everything is going well.
