Exiled!? Ha! I have An Infinite Space-Chapter 87: Our New Fu Mansion 1
The guard did not waste any more time after handing me the token.
He quickly gathered the tokens on the table and signaled to a few other guards nearby.
"Move," he said. "Follow us."
His tone was completely different now, especially when his eyes landed on me. It carried a strange respect that had not been there before.
We began walking again, this time deeper into Unit 50.
A few more guards joined us, spreading out around the group as if to guide and watch us at the same time. The people who had not paid were led in a different direction, toward the shared building.
We did not look back.
The path ahead was narrow, lined with old houses on both sides. The deeper we went, the quieter it became. The earlier noise from the market area slowly faded.
After a while, the guards began to stop at intervals.
"You," one of them said, pointing at a man. "This is yours."
They started dispersing people one after another.
Each time, a token was checked, then a house was assigned.
We followed behind, watching as the houses were given out.
When they stopped in front of Li Manman and Fu Fong, the guard looked at their token and nodded.
"House number eight," he said.
He pointed at the house in front of them.
It had a small courtyard. The walls were old, and the wood looked worn, but it was still standing properly. It was not beautiful, but it was livable.
"This is yours," the guard added.
Li Manman stepped forward, her eyes scanning the place.
It was not bad.
Just... ordinary.
Mr. Lu and the others who had paid earlier were also led to their own houses.
Each one looked similar.
Small courtyards.
Old walls.
Nothing special.
They were comfortable enough, but clearly not the best.
As we continued walking, the number of people with us became fewer and fewer.
One by one, they were all settled.
Soon, only we were left.
I looked at the empty path ahead, then at the guard who was still standing beside us.
"So... where is ours?" I asked calmly.
The guard immediately straightened.
Then he laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Ah... big sister Su..." he said.
"Please, do not call me ’guard’ anymore."
He gave a small, almost embarrassed smile.
"You can just call me Chen."
He paused slightly, then quickly added,
"Come, come... I will take you there myself."
His tone had completely changed.
There was even a hint of eagerness in it now.
Without waiting, he stepped forward and began to lead the way again, this time with more care than before.
We followed behind him.
We didn’t walk much as she arrived at our house almost immediately.
It was just directly beside the house Li Manman had purchased.. me thinking we finally could stay far from them we were literally their neighbors.
Sigh!
Then he turned back to us with a proud expression.
"Big sister Su," he said, gesturing forward.
"This is your house."
I lifted my gaze but immediately my irritated expression disappeared because for the first time since entering Unit 50...
Something finally looked worth the price.
Chen handed the token to me with both hands, his attitude still respectful.
"If you need anything," he said quickly, "just call for me. I will come immediately."
He gave a small bow.
"I will be nearby."
With that, he turned and left without waiting for a reply.
We stood there quietly.
Then I lifted my head and looked at the house in front of us.
It did not look like the others.
At all.
It was large.
Not just slightly bigger... But much bigger.
The structure looked more like a small inn than a normal house. The building stood wide and firm, with a proper wooden frame and a tiled roof that, although old, was still intact.
There was a wide courtyard in front, open and clean, with enough space for many people to move around freely. The ground was flat, not rough like the other places we had seen.
The entrance had a proper door, not just a hanging cloth or broken wood. Even the windows were evenly placed, and though slightly worn, they were still complete.
Inside, from what could be seen through the entrance, there were multiple rooms. The layout was clear and organized, like a place meant to host many people at once.
There was even a larger main hall area.
Compared to the other houses—
This place stood out too much.
Fu Li was the first to react.
"Wait... is this really ours?" she asked, her eyes wide.
Fu Fei also looked stunned.
"This is not just a house... this is almost like an inn," she said softly.
Fu Tong walked a little closer, looking around.
"With this... we can all stay comfortably," he said.
Even Fu Teng, who rarely showed much reaction, paused slightly as he took in the size of the place.
Behind us, I could feel the shift in everyone’s mood.
I only looked at the token in my hand then back at the house.
A small smile formed on my lips.
Now, this was more like it.
Just as we were about to enter a voice came from behind.
"Thank you."
I turned.
Bai Ming stood there with her children.
Her expression was serious, but sincere.
"Thank you for helping me, Su Long," she said. "I will repay you in any way I can."
She bowed.
Behind her, Fu Qin and Fu Lin also bowed at the same time.
"Thank you," they said softly, their small voices clear.
I looked at them quietly.
For a moment, I did not say anything.
Then I gave a small nod.
"It is fine," I said.
Bai Ming straightened.
She did not say anything else she just turned to leave.
Han Fuji, who had been standing beside her, also turned to follow.
But before they could take another step..
My voice rang out.
"Stop."
I watched them pause.
Then I tilted my head slightly, a faint smile forming on my lips.
"Why are you leaving so quickly?" I said lightly.
My tone was calm, but there was a hint of teasing in it.
I took a small step forward and gestured toward the house behind me.
"There are more than enough rooms here," I added. "And you want to take two children to stay in that shared place?"
I let out a soft breath and shook my head.
"This is exile," I continued slowly. "Only God knows what can happen in a place like that."
My eyes moved briefly to the children.
"They are still young."
Then I looked back at Bai Ming.
"I am a mother too," I said simply. "I cannot pretend not to see two children struggle."
Bai Ming froze.
Her fingers tightened slightly around her children.
"I..." she started.
"No," she said quickly, shaking her head. "I cannot trouble you like that. You have already helped me enough."
She took a step back.
"I will manage."
But before she could say more,
Han Fuji spoke.
"You should accept it."
His voice was calm, but firm.
Bai Ming turned to look at him.
He met her gaze directly.
"This place is not safe," he continued. "Not for children."
He glanced toward the direction of the shared house.
"Living there will only make things harder."
Then he looked back at her.
"You do not need to refuse everything."
His words were simpl but they carried weight and she went quiet.
She did not speak again.
She only looked down at her children, her expression conflicted.
The two children held onto her clothes quietly, not saying anything.
Before Bai Ming could say anything—
Two small figures suddenly ran past me.
"Come!" Fu Jun shouted happily.
Fu Jin followed beside him, both of them rushing straight to Fu Lin and Fu Qin.
They grabbed their hands without hesitation.
"Let’s play!" Fu Jun said, already pulling them along.
Fu Qin blinked, then slowly smiled.
Fu Lin hesitated for a second, then nodded.
The four children quickly began laughing together as though they were still back at the Fu Mansion.
Bai Ming stood there, watching them.
Her expression slowly softened.
The tension in her face disappeared little by little.
Seeing her children laugh like that...
Something in her heart gave in.
After a moment, she let out a quiet breath.
Then she looked at me and nodded.
"...Alright," she said softly.
"Thank you."
Her voice was sincere this time.
Seeing that she had agreed, I simply nodded back.
At the side, Han Fuji turned around to leave.
He did not say anything.
But just as he took a few steps,
"Wait," Bai Ming called out.
He stopped.
She looked at him.
"Where are you going?" she asked.
Han Fuji did not turn immediately.
Then he answered calmly,
"I will find somewhere else."
He finally looked back at her.
"I do not belong here."
His voice was steady.
"Even if you ask me to stay, I would not."
He paused slightly.
"I am only glad you made it here safely."
Then he gave a small nod.
"I will take my leave."
He turned again, ready to gobbut the sound of Fu Sheng’s voice made him stop In his tracks.
"There is still a room."
Fu Sheng looked at him calmly.
"If you ever need a place, you can stay here," he said.
"There is enough space."
Hearing that, Han Fuji smiled before turning around and walking away.
