Chapter 36: Ch-36: Bloodline Drop

Not only Victor, but also the guild members behind Matthew were startled by his words, while a few others grimaced.

"Oh, you want free items? That is possible," Victor said, causing an arrogant look to appear on Matthew’s face, while the others looked at him strangely.

"Come closer, look at what I got for you," Victor said with a grin as he put forward his clenched fist on the table.

"What is it?" Matthew thought there was some kind of item in his clenched fist, so he leaned forward.

"Do you like it?" Victor said in amusement as he unclenched his fist and showed him the middle finger.

"Are you messing with me?" Matthew asked with a dark expression, and his face turned even darker when he heard some players snickering at him.

"Hah, you are the one messing with me. Do you think I run a charity, or that I am your friend, that you are demanding items for half the price, and on top of that you are even asking for free stuff? Is something wrong with your head? I have a potion that alleviates mental illness—if you want, I can give it to you for 100,000 experience points. Do you want it?" Victor first sneered at him, but toward the end, he showed genuine concern, which made Matthew want to tear him apart.

"Mental illness, your head!" Matthew said as he unsheathed his sword, while Victor looked at him indifferently.

"I wouldn’t do that if I were you," Victor said calmly with a hint of warning in his voice.

"Guild Master, perhaps you should—" one of the guild members was about to dissuade him from acting recklessly but stopped when he saw Matthew’s glare.

"You are just an NPC, a low-level one," Matthew sneered and looked at the items on display with greedy eyes.

’What gave him the confidence?’ Victor raised an eyebrow. He was sure Matthew must have seen the danger level, but then he suddenly noticed a red aura around his body, and it clicked.

Victor immediately used his pupil technique and understood the reason.

[Name: Matthew Hayes]

[Class: Warlock]

[Bloodline: Berserker]

--------

Berserker (C Rank)

Description: Berserkers are warlocks who gain slight boosts when they are angry.

Beginners who have this Warlock Bloodline are extremely quick to anger and tend to be arrogant and petty. It requires training to control their emotions.

-------------

’It completely slipped my mind’ Matthew was one of the few players who had awakened a Warlock Bloodline. Even though it was C Rank and weaker compared to the bloodlines of Olivia, Rachel, and Andrew, it still allowed him to dominate most players and rank among the top.

Victor rubbed his temples as a sword descended toward him. In the next second, Matthew’s eyes shrank as some clarity returned to his mind. Victor moved so fast that it seemed like he had directly teleported from his place.

Before he could even react, he felt a sharp pain in his chest and his vitality rapidly draining. Matthew looked at his chest, which had Victor’s hand buried deep inside. Victor looked indifferently as he withdrew his hand.

[You have died]

[Protection mechanism has been activated]

[To preserve your life, your level has dropped to 1]

Victor watched calmly as Matthew turned into specks of light and vanished. He knew that the protection mechanism had been activated as mana descended on Earth.

As players, unlike Victor, could not enter with their main bodies yet and instead used VR helmets and capsules which separated the body and soul, allowing the soul to enter the game. Due to the body not being able to enter, the leveling speed was much slower. When a player died after the activation of the protection mechanism, their level reset to 1 every time, regardless of their level or tier. Every time a player died, the soul was damaged, which could result in lowering the player’s potential. Victor had discovered this much later, and he had already died a couple of times before.

"Huh?" Victor’s eyes suddenly widened when he saw a notification appear on his retina.

[Ding Dong]

[You have killed a Warlock]

[100% Drop Rate has been triggered]

[You have acquired the Berserker Bloodline]

[Origin Bloodline is reacting]

[Origin Bloodline is attempting to evolve the Berserker Bloodline]

[Evolution successful]

[Berserker Bloodline has evolved into Blood Berserker]

-------------

Blood Berserker Bloodline (S Rank)

Description: When the vitality of the user falls below 50%, the user gains a boost of 100% in all stats, including the attack power of skills.

------------

Victor’s mouth hung open when he saw the notification. He was more shocked that the 100% Drop Rate could extract bloodlines from Warlocks than by the new bloodline he had obtained. Warlock Bloodlines were rare to begin with, and now he had a way to get an almost unlimited number of bloodlines as long as he killed other Warlocks.

While Victor was lost in his thoughts, the others who saw him kill Matthew with a single strike froze stiff and looked at him fearfully. Even the other players who harbored ill intentions did not dare to mess with him.

"Damn, I think he must be a very high-level NPC."

"You think? Didn’t you see the danger level that was showing?"

"That guy Matthew was too impulsive. I heard when you die, your level gets reset to 1."

"He is lucky that he is low-level. Think if someone was Level 200 and spent years grinding to reach that level, but their level gets reset."

"That would be brutal. If it were me, I would quit playing."

Victor looked at the players who were watching him with caution. His eyes swept across the few members of the Crimson Lion Guild, and they flinched, averted their gazes, and quickly logged out. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"If you don’t want to buy anything, please don’t crowd the front of my shop and leave," Victor said calmly, and his words jolted the players out of their thoughts. Leave? Like hell they would—they wouldn’t leave until they bought their desired items.

All the players who could not buy anything due to the Crimson Lion Guild’s interference hurriedly opened the shop interface.

A shop interface popped up in front of the players. As they scanned through the items, their eyes began to widen in disbelief.

"Godly equipment!" some of them blurted out.

"[Wolf Sword], [Tier 0 Knight Set], [High Quality Potions], [Assault Rifle], [Skill Books]..."

The players were shaking uncontrollably. To them, all of these were "godly equipment" that would allow them to surpass any other player in a short time!

Victor’s smile widened when he saw the accumulated experience points rapidly increasing. If his experience points increased like this steadily, then within a few days he would have enough points to buy everything he needed from the Mech Shop. And since he had already reached the peak of Tier 0 and could not level up until he completed the promotion quest to advance to Tier 1, he could only spend points on the Mech Shop.

2 Days Later

Bloodline: Origin Bloodline (SSS Rank)

Class: Warlock

Tier: 0

Exp Stored: 56,000

Free Stat Points: 0

"Not a bad harvest." In these two days, his game as a mysterious merchant had spread among the players who had bought items from him, and more others had visited him, and he had completely emptied his stock. He obviously could have charged more, but if he charged too much, they would prefer spending money rather than experience points.

"Maybe in the future I will sell mechs to the players. I am sure they cannot resist," Victor smirked as he thought.

Then he closed his shop and walked through the bustling streets. The streets were much more lively compared to the previous days due to the auction. Victor remained calm, as he had participated in many auctions before; compared to them, this was a low-level one, and he could see only a few minor nobles present here, with most being players and small NPC merchants. Of course, if the NPCs knew that a dungeon map was being sold, that would be a different case, and many prominent NPCs would be present.

"Halt, we need to search you." Victor walked toward the auction hall but was stopped by two bulky guards carrying a sword and a machine gun in their hands. They checked Victor to see if he was carrying any weapons, as it was strictly prohibited. After they checked him, they stepped aside and let him pass.

As soon as Victor stepped forward, he smirked as he saw a familiar face—Matthew Hayes. He also stopped, and his eyes turned red in anger when he saw Victor.

"Frost Eye," Matthew Hayes said through gritted teeth and was about to lose control and attack when someone stopped him.

"Guild Master, if you attack him here, we will be kicked out by the guards. And did you forget we have a plan?" one of the guild members said, which caused Matthew to take a deep breath to calm his nerves. He ignored Victor and walked inside.

"Interesting," Victor smiled when he saw a black thread above Matthew’s head as he activated his pupil skill.

[Name: Matthew Hayes]

[Fate: In the auction, he will buy many items and equipment for his guild and also buy a mysterious scroll, which is the map of a dungeon. After the auction, he will go and surround the NPC Frost Eye and try to kill and rob him with all the members of the Crimson Lion Guild, but instead they will get slaughtered by the NPC and lose all their equipment and items bought from the auction.]
