Chapter 227: Chapter 156: Entry to Qi Storage Pill

The courtyard at the corner of Lu Chang’sheng’s residence used to house that burly man, but he wasn’t alone—it was a whole team of cultivators.

Right now, the shouts coming from inside belonged to the other members of that team, arguing with the guy.

"That guy with the last name Meng really doesn’t know his place, hooking up with that woman surnamed Gu. He has no clue she’s a pro at this. Heard she scammed plenty of cultivators in other places, too."

Lu Chang’sheng was startled for a moment.

He’d only been here for a few months. Compared to these ’old-timers’ who’d been around for years or even decades, he was basically a newcomer.

"Isn’t that female cultivator worried she’ll piss people off?"

"Not at all. That woman’s got a partner—also just an early Qi Cultivation cultivator—but her actual strength is way above your average people."

Lu Chang’sheng clicked his tongue, a bit relieved he never let lust get the better of him. Otherwise, he might’ve ended up in her trap, too.

That woman surnamed Gu had shacked up with the guy for a few days and, when she left, took a lot of his money with her.

Which is why the rest of the team was now butting heads with Mr. Meng.

Because part of that money belonged to them—just hadn’t been split up yet.

"Compared to Great Yuan, the Spirit Realm comes with its own threats."

Lu Chang’sheng stopped watching the commotion and turned to leave.

But as he walked away, he heard the man’s furious shout from inside: "It’s just a few winter coats, nothing major. We’re all warriors here—what’s there to be afraid of?"

He whipped his head around, only to spot the bystand-ing cultivators suddenly looking thoughtful.

At the same time, the courtyard went quiet—the arguing stopped, as if someone realized what was going on.

"So they’re warriors? Well, that’s interesting."

Lu Chang’sheng glanced at Fei Yun, the cultivator he’d just been chatting with.

That guy noticed Lu Chang’sheng looking over, smiled, then turned and walked away.

The scuffle ended as abruptly as it began, with some nonsense for a punchline. Still, none of the onlookers looked relieved—instead, everyone seemed on edge.

"What’s wrong, Dad?"

When he got back inside, Lu Ziyou saw that Lu Chang’sheng looked pretty serious and asked him.

"Go get your brother."

Lu Chang’sheng called both his sons over and told them what he’d seen.

"So they argued, big deal. What’s that got to do with us? You think that Gu woman’s going to take it out on us?" Lu Ziyou said.

Lu Chang’sheng was subtly testing them, but was clearly disappointed in Ziyou’s response.

He looked at Lu Chang’an, who seemed lost in thought.

"I don’t know, Father."

In the end, Lu Chang’an just shook his head.

He’d had a flash of insight, but couldn’t quite grasp it—and honestly, that feeling only came up after Lu Chang’sheng brought the subject up. So now, thinking about it more didn’t seem very useful.

"They said they’re warriors, which means they probably escaped here from another domain."

Lu Chang’sheng explained.

"How so?" Lu Ziyou felt that was a bit of a stretch.

"It’s obvious—their cultivation isn’t that low. That guy’s at Qi Cultivation level two, and the rest aren’t weak either. If they’d been warriors in Guangnan Domain for a while, they’d have to know about the Cold Spirit Wind. But look at them—they barely care about winter gear."

"So people from other domains—what’s that got to do with us?"

"Try using your brain," Lu Chang’an shot Ziyou an exasperated look. "If they ran, that means they either did something wrong, or something bad happened in the place they came from."

Lu Ziyou scratched his head, wondering if his dad and big brother were just overthinking it.

Maybe the guys just wanted to come hang out here for a while or something.

Still, he kept his mouth shut—no need for them to think he was dumb.

"Good thing I’m able to cultivate."

Lu Ziyou had also been tested for Spirit Root Talent—but came up with a grade D, which was still a notch better than what Lu Chang’sheng had gotten.

So with pills on hand, his progress in cultivation sped up a lot.

"Probably nothing major—if it was something big with the domain, we’d have heard about it by now. So it’s probably just a small incident."

Lu Chang’sheng said.

But to be safe, he put even more effort into his alchemy work.

"Nangua’s run into trouble—we can’t count on her, so if we want to survive in the Spirit Realm, we’ll just have to earn our own place and power."

Lu Chang’sheng went back to the Alchemy Room and continued making pills.

Within a few days, he got a taste of how terrifying the Cold Spirit Wind could be. Even huddled by the fire in a thick coat, the chill seeped into his bones.

Lu Chang’an even came down with a cold because of it.

The Cold Spirit Wind felt almost like a cultivator using immortal techniques to hit them with wave after wave of magical attacks.

To play it safe, Lu Chang’sheng told Lu Chang’an not to come back to the market town until the wind eased up, and didn’t mind if his alchemy progress was delayed.

As the Cold Spirit Wind worsened, more and more cultivators went out robbing people for anything warm they could find.

"Once spring comes, everything’ll get better."

Lu Chang’sheng thought to himself.

He’d run out of Palm Fire Talismans and was planning to buy some more. These basic talisman papers were sold in the market towns, and there was plenty to go around.

As he walked out, he immediately saw the guy surnamed Meng, shivering as he made his way out of the courtyard.
