Chapter 130: From the Horror’s Belly

As the Desert Worm shot out from the ground, the others rained coordinated attacks on it. Blades and spears flashed, along with different abilities that seemed to synchronize.

Very soon, several deep wounds lined the creature’s fleshy body. However, these wounds were only trivial considering how large the worm was.

"I’ll hit it."

One of them took out a modified cock-and-fire gun, then fired straight at the creature. The bullet, made of a Nirad Creature’s bone, shot through the air and penetrated deep into the worm’s grotesque flesh.

It shrieked hoarsely, its body curling in recoil. However, that was not all. The shooter clicked a button on the remote he was holding, and the bullet suddenly exploded inside the creature.

It raised its body up in pain, smashing itself against the ground as the explosion shredded its organs.

The others also attacked, hacking it with their weapons and using their different abilities on it. One of them suddenly doubled gravity, making the creature twice as heavy.

Its body was pressed to the ground, yet it still wriggled about in discomfort. It was as if something was biting it on the inside.

"Hey, could that still be your bullet at work?"

A female Evolved asked the shooter, her lips curled in confusion. In this present era, guns were somewhat outdated, so not everyone was familiar with how they worked.

"I don’t think so." The shooter shook his head, equally perplexed.

Gradually, the other team members began to notice the anomaly and grew wary.

Saber, the man who had made a joke about the heat earlier, immediately frowned and said.

"No more casual attacks. Let’s finish it before something unexpected happens."

The others nodded and immediately spread out. They surrounded the creature, some restricting its movements with earth bindings or ropes, while others helped keep it in place.

Standing before the head of the snarling creature, Saber raised his sword and channeled essence into his nodes. The space around his sword warped as if distorted by an unknown force.

Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and swung with all his power. The world seemed to collapse along with the descent of his sword, its blade almost cutting a tear in the fabric of space.

The weapon sliced into the creature’s head, cleaving it into two. It went still, no longer resisting bindings or anything.

Saber panted, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "Looks like it’s dead."

His team members immediately relaxed, releasing their bindings and stepping back from the corpse. Suddenly, Saber frowned.

’I didn’t receive any notification of its death from the system. Did one of my guys steal the kill? Or is it an undead creature?’

He was confused, until suddenly the dormant corpse twitched.

"Wait. Am I seeing things?"

Tiger asked, his dog growling and backing away.

The midsection of the creature’s body shifted repeatedly, like something was about to force its way out.

As the group grew wary, a pair of black blades with jagged edges sliced through an opening in its belly. The blades disappeared, replaced by a pair of hands that forced the opening wide.

Finally, the figure of a person emerged from the creature. It was a young man covered in intestinal fluids.

Although it looked gross, his sharp blue eyes and light blue hair were undeniably attractive.

The girls in the team stared at him as he stumbled off the creature, mesmerized. He looked so young and... dangerously captivating.

’Ban that thought!’

One of the girls shook her head, realizing that the strange boy might be using some mind abilities against them.

"Who are you?" Saber asked, his voice loud and clear. Judging from the kid’s essence signature, he was an Awakened.

The boy slowly turned his head towards the grown man. "There is no reason for my name to be known."

Without waiting for any reaction, he turned around, dug out the soul crystal of the Evolved Horror, then began walking away.

Staring at his back which was as straight as a sword, Saber grimaced.

"The world has really become something else. What kind of kid behaves like that?"

Tiger shook his head. "He’s no longer a kid anymore. An Awakened is an Awakened. I’m just surprised he survived within that creature."

Saber shrugged and turned back

"Let’s leave him alone. We have our own mission to be concerned about."

.........

After moving some distance away from the Evolved team, Kaiser heaved a tired sigh.

"That was really crazy..."

Resisting the digestive system of a Nirad Creature for almost an hour was crazy. Thankfully, his armor somehow adapted and learned to resist the acid being secreted by the creature.

The other parts of his face that were touched were repeatedly healed—painful but bearable.

Finally, thanks to the Evolved team’s efforts, he was able to deal the final blow with his daggers and kill the creature.

’I must be gross.’

He controlled the shadows and made tall walls around himself, blocking outside view. Summoning the Drunken Treasure, he dismissed his armor and poured some water over himself.

After washing himself clean, he cleaned the Nullweave Carapace and put it on.

Dispersing the shadow walls, he looked around. "I have no clue where to start from. Perhaps I should visit the specific ruins he was spotted? But it’s too dangerous."

That place was teeming with Ascendant creatures and even Transcendent creatures. For an Awakened like him, it was a death sentence.

Yet—

A determined glint flashed through his eyes. Still, he knew he couldn’t blindly go there without any plans. After ensuring his surroundings were safe, he opened his system interface.

His gaze was immediately drawn to the latest relic he had received from the system after killing the Evolved Horror—Desert Worm.

As soon as he read through the functions of the relic, his eyes widened in surprise.
