Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Luckily, Silas Prescott Didn’t Find Out

Chloe Nash gently pushed open Silas Prescott’s bedroom door, her heart pounding so hard it felt like it would jump out of her throat.

Had she not spiked Silas’s water with a sleeping pill, she wouldn’t have dared to recklessly enter his room, not even if her life depended on it.

If Silas discovered her, all her plans would be for naught.

Chloe Nash let out a gentle breath, trying to steady her frayed nerves.

She tiptoed over to Silas Prescott’s bedside and picked up his pants, intending to search the pockets.

The room was pitch black; she couldn’t see anything.

Afraid to turn on the flashlight, she could only use the moonlight seeping through the curtains to search.

Silas’s pants had a belt; she grabbed the metal part of the belt first to avoid making noise.

Just as she bent down to locate the pocket, something fell to the ground with a soft ’thud.’

Chloe was so scared that her hair stood on end.

She quickly dropped to the floor like a frightened kitten, trying not to be detected by Silas.

She felt her heart racing at a speed of two hundred beats per minute.

In the silent room, she could almost hear her ’thump thump’ heartbeat.

Chloe placed a hand over her heart, swallowing nervously.

Over a minute passed, and Silas on the bed showed no reaction.

Chloe finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Slowly she raised her head, still lying on the floor, she continued searching Silas’s pockets.

She managed to find the pocket, but what she was looking for wasn’t there.

She remembered distinctly that Silas had placed it in his pocket.

Could he have moved it?

Entertaining that possibility, Chloe threw the pants on the floor and slowly crawled over to the head of Silas’s bed.

She carefully rummaged through the bedside table.

A phone, a watch, cufflinks—she touched them all, but not the stud earring.

She looked a bit dejectedly at the sleeping man, contemplating where he might have put it.

Just then, a low, hoarse voice echoed in the quiet room.

"Sienna."

Upon hearing the voice and that name, Chloe felt like she had been struck by lightning.

Her entire body went numb, her breathing stopped.

Her mind suddenly flashed back to scenes from five years ago when every time she tried to escape, she was caught by Silas.

Each time, she thought she was just about to get away, but at the last second, that call would echo in her ears.

It felt exactly like that now.

Chloe was so terrified that her limbs went cold; she stayed crouched there, unmoving, waiting for the storm to arrive.

But she waited for a long time and saw no movement from Silas.

His breathing remained as steady as before.

Chloe exhaled a deep breath of relief.

Turns out Silas hadn’t caught her; he was just talking in his sleep.

Chloe felt both relieved and a bit sour.

Silas was still calling her name in his dreams. How much was he unable to let her go?

She looked guiltily at the sleeping man.

Silently, she prayed in her heart: Brother, please let go of your obsession; we can never be together.

After the scare, Chloe felt a cold sweat trickle down her back.

She slowly stood up, intending to continue her search.

Just then, a breeze lifted the curtains, and the moonlight streamed through the gap, illuminating Silas.

In that instant, Chloe saw a small box clutched in the man’s hand.

Her heart pounded furiously.

If she could just get that stud earring, the alarm could be lifted.

She quietly approached Silas’s bed and bent down to pick up the small box.

Chloe’s inner anxiety was overwhelming.

She got what she came for, eager to leave.

Chloe escaped from Silas’s room, drenched in cold sweat.

Panting heavily, she sat in the living room, downing a large glass of cold water to calm her nerves.

She patted her chest in lingering fear.

Thankfully, Silas hadn’t discovered her.

Thankfully, she managed to steal away the stud earring.

She opened the small box, intending to toss the stud earring away.

But in the next moment, she discovered that the small box did not contain the stud earring she was searching for.

Instead, it held a pink diamond ring.
