Chapter 90: Chapter 90: What Secret Do You and Sienna Paxton Share?

Silas finished dealing with business and rushed back to the hospital room.

When he saw Chloe was not on the bed, an uneasy feeling crept into his heart.

He immediately searched every corner of the room, but found no sign of Chloe anywhere.

For a moment, Silas felt transported back five years, to the day Sienna Paxton left him and ran away.

Chloe wouldn’t have noticed his suspicions toward her and got scared, would she?

Thinking of this possibility, Silas dashed out of the hospital room like a madman. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

At the nurse station, he panted, asking, "Where did the patient from room 308 go?"

The young nurse replied, "She went out by herself."

"When?"

"Right after you left."

So, did Chloe really run away?

At the thought, the always elegant Silas now looked utterly crazed.

"How do you people do your job? Just letting patients leave as they please? If something happens to her, I’ll have all of you thrown out of this hospital."

Seeing his fury, the young nurses shrank back fearfully.

One of them stammered, "S-Sir, I saw your friend just now in the parking garage, getting into a car with a man."

Hearing this, Silas tore off toward the garage, completely wild.

As soon as he arrived, he saw Chloe sitting in Jett Sterling’s car, gazing at Jett with tender concern.

Seeing this, Silas clenched his fists hard.

She had never looked at him that way.

Why was she able to be so gentle to other men, yet always cold and distant with him?

So Jett was playing diversion, using Claire Channing to lure him out—while he came here to find Chloe.

The seed of jealousy inside Silas grew rampantly at the thought.

He was just about to rush over, drag Jett out and beat him up.

But then he saw Chloe get out of the car and start walking his way.

Silas forced himself to tamp down the fury boiling in his body and stood in a shadowy corner, eyes fixed on Chloe as she moved step by step into his sight.

Just as Chloe was about to walk over and take the elevator, her wrist was suddenly seized.

Before she could scream, someone pressed her up against the wall.

In the dim light, she saw a figure looming threateningly over her.

The man’s breathing was sharp, charged with icy tension, and he bent in to kiss her.

For a moment, Chloe thought she was being assaulted—so she raised her knee toward the man’s groin.

This move was actually something Silas taught her in self-defense, and she’d used it a few times during her years abroad.

She was quick and well-practiced, her force precise.

Just as she was about to strike again, a familiar voice whispered in her ear.

"If you kick me again, my third leg’s gonna break."

At that, Chloe’s movements froze.

Her eyes flew wide, and in the darkness, she saw a face she could never mistake.

Chloe stared at him, confused—why would Silas suddenly try to kiss her?

Had he bugged her, discovered she really was Sienna Paxton?

The possibility made cold sweat break out along Chloe’s spine.

Things like that—Silas had certainly done them before.

He used to give her all kinds of little trinkets, which she treasured.

She would always carry them in her backpack.

But later, she discovered every little thing contained a listening device.

That was how, no matter where she went or who she was with, Silas could always find her exactly.

Chloe clutched Silas’s shirt tightly, her breathing uneven.

"Silas, are you insane? I’m Chloe, not Sienna."

The words forcibly tamped down Silas’s surging emotion.

He stared long at Chloe’s face before saying, "Why are you so nervous? I was just trying to scare you, make you stay put in the hospital room. Who told you to go out? What if you ran into someone dangerous?"

He sounded all business, and for a moment, Chloe couldn’t tell if he was lying.

Had Silas really discovered her secret?

Her lashes trembled, her gaze unfocused on Silas—unsure what to say.

Seeing her like this, Silas gave a low chuckle.

"Why are you staring at me like that? You want me to kiss you?"

He pinched Chloe’s chin, his voice teasing: "Guess I’ll just have to indulge you."

With that, he lowered his head toward Chloe’s lips.

Startled, Chloe pushed him away, retreating several steps, her voice tight with nerves.

"Y-you... you can’t just kiss me."

"Why not?"

"I have a husband. I can’t betray him."

Hearing this, Silas gave a soft laugh. "You have a husband, so why are you meeting your ex-boyfriend?"

"It wasn’t a date—I was just returning some things."

"But you were looking at him so gently. You’ve never looked at me that way. Chloe, why are you always so distant toward me? Why do you keep reminding me you’re Chloe, not Sienna? Are you hiding something from me?"

Chloe shook her head quickly, scared. "No, I don’t know her."

Seeing her so frightened, Silas laughed quietly.

No doubt—thieves are always quick to panic.

If you don’t know her, why do you have photos together?

He really wanted to press Chloe for answers, but was afraid of scaring her off.

He wanted badly to know what secrets lay between Chloe and Sienna.

Was she really Sienna?

But right now, with no actual proof, if he spooked her away, he’d be back where he started.

Silas knocked his knuckles lightly on Chloe’s head. "You better not be. Otherwise, I’ll never let you go."

With that, he took Chloe’s hand and led her upstairs.

Seeing Chloe return with him, the young nurses rushed up, pale-faced.

"Dr. Nash, you can’t just wander off like that next time. Mr. Prescott almost tore our hospital down just now."

Chloe smiled apologetically and nodded. "Sorry—I had something urgent. It won’t happen again."

As she walked into the room, Julian dashed up to her.

Tear tracks still on his cheeks, he looked up at Chloe, pitifully: "Mommy, don’t leave Julian."

Chloe quickly knelt and scooped him into her arms, soothing him.
