Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 89: Chloe Nash, Without You, I Will Never Be at Peace
Silas Prescott hung up the phone and left, not returning for a long time.
Chloe Nash felt a bit worried.
She feared Silas might do something illegal for her sake.
Just as she was about to pick up her phone to make a call, the door to the hospital room opened.
Jett Sterling stood at the doorway dressed in black, with a cold and handsome expression.
Dangerous light flickered in his deep black eyes.
He walked step by step to Chloe’s bedside.
Handing her a paternity report, his voice was icy: "You’re not Vincent Nash’s daughter. Who are you really?"
Upon seeing the report, a heaviness sank into Chloe’s heart.
As she expected, Jett had started investigating her.
Since the last time he tested her with Albie, Chloe knew the truth might be at risk of exposure.
But until the critical moment came, she could not admit anything easily.
Because the fewer people who knew her identity, the less danger she faced.
She couldn’t guarantee that Jett would keep this secret once he knew.
Chloe looked at Jett calmly: "This isn’t the place to talk, let’s discuss this in your car."
Silas could appear at any moment, she couldn’t let him find out what Jett knew.
If that happened, her identity would no longer be hidden.
Chloe gathered her thoughts and followed Jett into the car.
There was no trace of panic in her eyes: "This paternity report is correct, I’m not Vincent Nash’s biological daughter."
Hearing this, Jett’s deep pupils suddenly contracted.
It seemed things were developing exactly as he had suspected.
This person truly wasn’t Chloe.
He grabbed Chloe’s neck, his voice dripping with unstoppable menace.
"Then who are you, where is the real Chloe, and what did you do to her?"
His actions were rough, his gaze fierce, as if he might strangle her at any moment.
Chloe struggled to breathe, repeatedly slapping Jett’s hand.
"Jett, listen to me."
Only then did Jett calm down, slowly releasing Chloe’s neck.
His chest rose and fell heavily.
"I warned you a long time ago, if you dared to lie, I wouldn’t let you go."
Chloe took several deep breaths, "I was never my father’s biological daughter. I was switched at birth. Later, when my parents found out, they didn’t make it public. They secretly searched for their real daughter while raising me.
They always kept it from me. I only discovered the truth during an illness when I realized my blood type didn’t match theirs.
This matter has always been a family secret and I’ve never told anyone, including you."
Upon hearing this explanation, Jett clearly didn’t buy it.
"Then why don’t you remember Albie, why do you have claustrophobia, and why are you allergic to pollen?"
Sure enough, Jett had noticed all these details.
It showed how deeply he cared for Chloe.
Chloe felt a tinge of guilt in her heart.
But at the moment, she had no choice but to conceal the truth. Sienna’s life was saved by the real Chloe, urging her to live well.
She couldn’t betray her expectations.
To live well, she had to conceal that she was Sienna.
Chloe was silent for a few seconds, "Jett, the year I first went abroad, I got seriously injured, and it took me a year to recover, but I lost some of my memory. I don’t remember Albie, or many things between us, some habits even changed.
The doctor said it was a post-traumatic stress disorder. It’s that I didn’t want to remember that past, so I tried to forget everything related to you.
I met Albie around that time, he helped me out of the darkness, made me find hope in life again, and gradually I fell for him.
Jett, I admit we had many beautiful moments, but that’s in the past, I hope we can both move forward and not be obsessed with a relationship that has no future.
I deeply love Albie, I don’t want him to misunderstand there’s something between us, I hope you can understand my position."
Hearing these words, it was as if Jett’s heart was stabbed deeply.
The piercing pain made his lips tremble.
He didn’t expect this outcome.
Chloe was still the Chloe he loved, but that person no longer loved him.
She even chose to forget their past to sever ties with him.
How much must she have hated him to do that.
Jett’s dark eyes gradually took on a blood-red hue, his voice hoarse.
"Chloe, you still hate me, don’t you?"
Seeing him believe her, Chloe’s tense heart relaxed.
She softly curved her lips: "No, it’s just that I don’t want to have any ties anymore, Jett, what’s past is past, let’s not cling on, let’s each lead our own lives well."
After saying this, she stared at Jett for a few seconds, then opened the car door and got out.
Jett sat in the car alone in pain.
He lit a cigarette with trembling hands, taking several deep drags, unable to suppress the emotions in his heart.
If the Sterling Family hadn’t driven Chloe away from him, she wouldn’t have been so seriously injured.
She wouldn’t have forgotten their past.
That was the most beautiful youth he had with Chloe.
There were moments of competitive tension for their respective colleges, and moments where they worked together for the school’s honor.
Their youth was full of passion, romantic and happy.
It’s something he’d never forget for the rest of his life.
But all this beauty, due to different family beliefs, made it impossible for two originally loving people to return to the past.
Thinking of this, Jett’s shoulders shook.
A deeply hoarse voice escaped his throat: "Chloe, without you, I cannot be well."
