Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 76: I Really Would Die Without You
Feeling the heat of his gaze, Chloe’s heart suddenly tightened.
Images from years ago instantly flashed in her mind.
Silas Prescott, after drinking, went to bed with Sienna Paxton, entangling them in a nebulous relationship.
Sienna was very scared back then, afraid that the Prescotts would find out about this.
They would certainly scold her for being ungrateful and shameless.
If word got out, Silas would also be labeled a pervert.
To prevent that from happening, Sienna found an excuse to return to her old family home in the small town.
She wanted to avoid Silas for a summer, hoping he would forget about it.
But she didn’t expect, on a night of pouring rain, for Silas to stand at her doorstep.
Sopping wet, with injuries on his body.
Sienna was stunned at that moment.
For a while, she didn’t know what to do.
Whether to help Silas treat his wounds or to push him away.
But before she could decide, Silas fell onto her completely.
His burning body tightly held Sienna.
A deep, hoarse voice came from his throat.
"Sienna, it hurts so much, will you help me treat my wound?"
Hearing this, all of Sienna’s worries vanished instantly.
After all, he was someone she had liked for many years, she couldn’t just leave him to suffer.
She helped Silas into the room and tended to his wound.
But no one had lived in this house for years, all the medicine had expired.
Silas’ face was pale with pain, his lips without a trace of color.
Sienna, anxious, had reddened eyes: "Wait here, I’ll go downstairs to buy you some painkillers."
Just as she was about to stand up, Silas pulled her into his embrace.
His burning lips playfully brushed against her earlobe.
"There’s a typhoon outside, do you have a death wish?"
"But I can’t stand seeing you in such pain."
Hearing this, Silas chuckled softly, his hot breath fanning Sienna’s ear.
"Sienna, there’s another way to ease the pain."
Sienna blinked in confusion: "What way? Let me try."
Silas’s voice was deeply hoarse.
"Sienna, you are my painkiller."
Without waiting for Sienna to react, he kissed her on the lips.
His kiss was like the storm outside, sweeping over Sienna.
Sienna wanted to struggle, but Silas held her tightly in his arms.
Recalling all this, Chloe felt every nerve in her body tense.
Because she knew clearly what kind of monster was hidden behind Silas’s cultured face.
She quickly covered her mouth in fear, stammering, "You, what do you want? Don’t do anything reckless, this is a hospital."
Seeing her so nervous, Silas couldn’t help but laugh softly.
"Dr. Nash, I just want you to tell me a story, why are you so tense? Could it be that you think..."
Before he could finish, Chloe interrupted.
"What do you want to hear? I’ll tell it."
Seeing her panicked expression, Silas raised an eyebrow with satisfaction.
He took out a box of lozenges from his pocket, popped one out, and offered it to Chloe: "Your voice is hoarse, soothe your throat first, I don’t like unpleasant sounds."
Chloe looked down at the lozenge on Silas’s fingertip, hesitating.
Could Silas be trying to drug her?
The thought had just flashed in her mind when Silas’s light laughter reached her ears.
"What, are you afraid I’ll poison you? Dr. Nash, am I so despicable and shameless in your eyes?"
Chloe’s eyelashes trembled.
She was Chloe now, not Sienna. Silas had saved her father, she shouldn’t doubt him at all.
Thinking of this, she reached out to take the lozenge.
But Silas evaded her, bringing the lozenge directly to her mouth: "Open your mouth."
Perhaps it was a reflex, when Silas told her to open her mouth, Chloe actually did.
Seeing her so compliant, Silas smiled as he put the lozenge in her mouth.
The smile seemed serene and gentle, but it was actually fraught with danger.
Chloe quickly closed her mouth in fright.
But Silas’s finger hadn’t retracted in time, and by closing her mouth, she directly enclosed his slender, fair fingertip in it.
Nervous, her tongue involuntarily licked once.
This intimate action froze them both.
Their eyes met.
Breathing came to a halt.
It’s unclear how many seconds passed before Silas lightly brushed Chloe’s lips with his fingertip.
With a chuckle in his voice: "Dr. Nash, how much longer are you going to bite me?"
Only then did Chloe come to her senses, quickly releasing Silas, her cheeks slightly flushed: "Sorry, I didn’t mean to."
Silas looked at her indifferently: "Dr. Nash, this is the second time you’ve taken liberties with me, the first was a kiss, this time a bite, I wonder what it’ll be next time."
"There won’t be a next time."
In her anxiety, Chloe bit the throat lozenge in her mouth.
The cool mint flavor coursed down her throat and into her body.
Finally calming her burning cheeks.
She took out her phone and searched on Baidu: "What story do you want to hear? I’ll find it for you."
"The Little Prince."
Upon hearing the name, Chloe’s actions paused.
This book was Silas’s favorite; he often insisted that Sienna read it to him. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
He said there was one line he liked best.
[Stars blaze, so that one day, everyone can find their own star.]
He said she was his star.
So, she could never leave him, and if she did, he would die.
Remembering this, a mist of tears clouded Chloe’s eyes.
She pretended not to care, found the story on her phone, and began reading in a calm tone.
"In the vast reaches of the universe, there is a planet not much bigger than a house..."
After reading for a few minutes, Chloe started to feel drowsy, the words on the screen blurring.
Her voice grew fainter, until the last word was swallowed by her throat.
Seeing her slumped over the bed, Silas’s eyes were burning like fire.
He reached out and gently caressed Chloe’s smooth cheek.
His voice tinged with sadness: "My little star doesn’t seem to belong to me anymore."
