Chapter 71: Chapter 71: Chloe Nash’s Face Suddenly Changes

One sentence made Chloe’s face suddenly change.

She’d tried everything, doing her best to become Chloe Nash.

But there were things she really couldn’t do—like how she was truly afraid of dogs, and really allergic to pollen.

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t change those things.

Chloe nervously clenched her fingers, pretending to be calm as she said, "It’s just been too long, I forgot. Right now, my heart is with my husband. I don’t remember much about anyone else."

That explanation made Jett Sterling give a bitter smile.

Chloe’s heart was only for Albie Kane; she didn’t even remember their past anymore.

How had she managed that?

Why couldn’t he do the same?

Jett’s voice was hoarse: "Chloe, we had so many beautiful memories together. You’re saying you’ve just forgotten them all? I don’t believe you. Are you hiding something from me? Tell me, and I’ll do whatever I can to help you."

Facing Jett’s sincerity, Chloe felt a deep ache in her heart.

She ached for him and for the real Chloe Nash, for such a tragic ending.

But there was nothing she could do—she could only watch him suffer.

Chloe’s voice was a little rough: "Jett, please don’t bring up the past anymore. I have a family now. No matter what happens to me from now on, I’ll have Albie by my side. We missed our chance, and we’re never going back. Please don’t hold on like this."

When she finished, she didn’t wait for Jett’s reaction and hung up the call right away.

After hanging up, Jett gently stroked Little White’s head. "Your mom doesn’t even remember you. Can you believe that? I don’t. She’s definitely hiding something from me. I’m going to find out the truth."

Albie whipped up dinner quickly.

He served a bowl of soup to Silas: "Mr. Prescott, I made this black chicken soup especially for you, with red dates and longan. It’s all good for the blood. Try it."

Silas looked at the table full of colorful, fragrant dishes, a weird emotion welling up in his chest.

All he could think was that Albie took care of Chloe like this every day, and it felt like a heavy rock pressing on his heart.

He felt so suffocated that it ruined his mood.

And yet, he couldn’t do a thing about it.

Because Albie was Chloe’s husband, and he was just an outsider.

Silas had never felt so powerless. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

He lifted the bowl and downed the soup like it was baijiu.

The burning sensation stung his throat.

Watching him, Albie’s lips curled up imperceptibly as he put a chicken wing on Chloe’s plate.

"Your favorite cola chicken wings, eat more. You’ve gotten thinner working so hard on Dad’s case. When this is all over, I’ll make sure to spoil you at home."

Watching the two of them act so affectionate in front of him, Silas felt the food in his mouth lose all its flavor.

His tone was low: "Mr. Kane, you’re here to take care of me, not to show off your affection."

Albie smiled. "Sorry, it’s just a habit. Mr. Prescott, is there any dish you’d like? I’ll get it for you."

Silas pointed to the dish next to Chloe: "Dr. Nash, I want that one."

Chloe was about to help him, but before she could, Fries, ever the clever one, picked up a piece of rib and put it in Silas’s bowl.

With squinted eyes, she said, "Uncle, you eat."

Silas felt like Albie and his daughter were just here to get in his way. Letting them stay would only make him moodier, not help at all.

After dinner, he told them to leave.

He took Julian Prescott back to the old house as well.

As soon as they walked in, the butler came up to greet him: "Young Master, Miss Sienna said you donated a lot of blood. Please go upstairs and rest right away."

Silas replied blandly, "Mm. Take Julian to bathe."

"Of course. By the way, Young Master, when I was cleaning the study today, I found a photo under the desk—it’s of Sienna Paxton and Dr. Nash together."
