But he was afraid that doing so would scare Chloe.

He forcibly suppressed the anger in his heart and walked over to them.

He nodded politely like a gentleman: "I’ll do my best to move the trial date forward. The sooner Uncle gets out, the less he’ll have to suffer inside."

Albie said with a smile, "Thanks to you, Mr. Prescott, for helping my father-in-law. As his son-in-law, I didn’t do much at all. Later let me treat you and Lawyer Shelby to dinner, to show my gratitude."

Silas looked at Chloe with a complicated expression: "No need for dinner. This is a deal between Dr. Nash and myself, so naturally I’ll put all my efforts into it. I also hope Dr. Nash will keep her promise. Before Julian Prescott’s condition improves, don’t secretly leave."

His words were clearly a warning to Chloe.

How could Chloe not understand what Silas meant? She pressed her lips together and said, "Don’t worry, Mr. Prescott. I’m not that immoral."

"That’s good, otherwise if you left, I’d be worried Julian’s condition would get worse halfway through treatment."

Just as they were talking, Silas’s phone rang.

As soon as the call was answered, Lucy Rhodes’ anxious voice came through: "Silas, something happened at the zoo. Some mentally ill guy stabbed a bunch of people, Fries also got hurt, we’re on our way to the hospital now. Hurry up and bring Dr. Nash!"

After hanging up, Silas hurried with Chloe and Albie to the hospital.

They’d just reached the entrance to the emergency room when they heard a doctor shouting, "Is Ivy Kane’s parent here? The child’s spleen is injured, she’s in critical condition and urgently needs a blood transfusion. But the blood bank doesn’t have this type."

Hearing this, Chloe immediately ran over, her voice trembling: "Doctor, I’m Ivy’s mother. We have the same blood type, both RH negative. Take my blood."

Silas grabbed her wrist: "Chloe, you’re a doctor. Don’t you know immediate family can’t donate blood?"

Chloe’s tears instantly fell, and she cried out, hoarse: "I’m just her mom, we’re not blood-related. My blood can be used!"

Hearing this, Silas was completely stunned.

In those deep, dark eyes, some emotion began to surge up.

Fries isn’t Chloe’s son.

So is her marriage to Albie also fake?

If there’s nothing wrong with their marriage, then why bother to hide it?

Thinking about this possibility, Silas’s grip on Chloe’s wrist tightened even more.

His eyes locked tightly onto Chloe.

Seeing Silas like this, Chloe’s heart sank violently.

She could faintly sense some danger closing in on her.

Just as she was thinking about how to explain, Fries’s voice suddenly came from behind them.

"Mommy."

Hearing that voice, Chloe whipped around, and saw Fries led in by Lucy Rhodes.

His arm was wrapped in a white bandage.

Chloe rushed over to him, checking him up and down, her voice still trembling.

"Fries, are you hurt badly?"

Fries saw Chloe’s tearful eyes and quickly reassured her: "Mommy, it’s just a cut on my arm. The medicine’s already been put on, I’m fine. Don’t worry."

Seeing he was okay, Chloe hugged him tightly and said, "You scared Mommy to death. If anything happened to you, what would I do?"

Albie came over and put his arms around both of them.

He comforted softly, "It’s fine now. When we get home, I’ll make him some calming soup, let him sleep it off, honey, don’t worry too much."

Watching the family of three hugging together, a strange emotion flashed in Silas’s eyes.
