Chapter 66: Chapter 66: He Wants to Beat Up Albie Kane

Albie Kane saw this and hurried over, handing Silas Prescott a glass of water.

"Mr. Prescott, you’ve been running around nonstop for my father-in-law. I really appreciate it. Let me treat you to a meal sometime."

He extended the invitation as the Nash Family’s son-in-law, which made Silas feel even more frustrated.

Silas gave a faint smile. "This is an arrangement between me and Dr. Nash; it has nothing to do with you."

With a single sentence, he pushed Albie Kane aside.

He couldn’t have made it clearer—all of this was for Chloe Nash.

Silas rose to his feet. "Tomorrow I’ll have Lucy Rhodes and the housekeeper take the two kids to the zoo. We’ll go meet with the lawyer."

Chloe nodded. "Okay."

The next day.

At the entrance to the detention center, Chloe met with Lawyer Shelby.

She nodded respectfully. "Lawyer Shelby, please do your best with my father’s case. I’ll try to raise the ten million in legal fees as soon as possible."

Upon hearing the number, Nate Shelby couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows.

"Dr. Nash, do you think I’m some kind of robber? Charging you ten million for this case—what am I, ruining my own reputation?"

Chloe was a little surprised. "It’s not ten million? Then how much is it?"

"I’m the Prescott Group’s exclusive lawyer. According to their rates, at most it’s one million."

Chloe didn’t understand why Silas had lied to her.

She kept a calm expression and nodded. "Alright, I’ll transfer the money to you soon."

Nate Shelby glanced over at Silas, feeling like he’d said something wrong, and quickly explained, "This case involves a lot of people. If President Prescott hadn’t stepped in, we couldn’t have investigated anything. It’s reasonable for him to ask you for more money for handling things."

"I understand. I’ll give Mr. Prescott the remaining amount. If he hadn’t helped, I couldn’t even have found a lawyer."

Silas’s black eyes darkened, and he said thoughtfully, "I said ten million on purpose. Someone pretended to be my assistant to donate money to the orphanage, and that person looked a lot like Dr. Nash."

Chloe didn’t evade his gaze at all, just looked at Silas calmly.

"Why would I pretend to be Mr. Prescott to make a donation? The money I have already went to help my husband in an emergency."

Her tone was steady and unhurried; not a trace of tension could be heard.

Silas gave a slight, indifferent smile. "Then I was overthinking it. Just pay the attorney fee Nate Shelby quoted; there’s no need to give me anything else."

"Don’t you need anything extra?"

"That’s my business. You helped Julian Prescott get treatment; I’m helping you with this lawsuit. It’s a deal between us, no need to worry further."

Chloe went with the lawyer to see Sean Sawyer. As Silas had predicted, Sean took all the blame upon himself.

As for the money Stella Sterling’s nanny had transferred to him, he said it was from his adoptive mother; all the money she earned went to him so he could save up for marriage.

The excuse was a little absurd, but Chloe let it go.

Because with him confessing, her father’s case could be resolved.

As for the rest, she would investigate gradually.

Leaving the detention center, Chloe let out a long sigh of relief.

Her father’s case was now just waiting for the trial.

This ordeal was finally coming to an end.

Albie Kane walked to Chloe and comfortingly patted her on the shoulder. "Now you can relax. After the trial, Dad will be acquitted. You’ve worn yourself out these days. Go home and rest."

Chloe nodded. "I promised Silas Prescott I would help Julian get treatment, so I still can’t go back. After a few days, take Fries and leave first."

"I know. It’s just—I don’t feel safe with you staying here. Silas Prescott is too dangerous; he keeps trying to get information from you. I’m worried he’ll find out you’re actually Sienna Paxton and hurt you again."

"He won’t. He’ll never find any proof that I’m Sienna Paxton."

The two of them were worried about being overheard, so their voices were very low.

And to hear each other clearly, they naturally stood very close.

When Silas Prescott came out, the first thing he saw was the two of them so close, their heads almost together.

He instinctively moved, wanting to rush over and beat Albie Kane up.
