Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 31: You Really Resemble Sienna
Hearing this, Stella Sterling was so frightened that she rushed to hide in Mrs. Sterling’s arms: "Mom, I can’t swim, I don’t want to jump. How will I be able to show my face in this circle in the future?"
The guests outside were all from elite families; if they found out that Silas Prescott punished her over a doctor, how would she ever have a place in the Prescott Family?
Mrs. Sterling’s face darkened. She gritted her teeth and said, "Stella can’t swim. If someone must be punished, I’ll take her place."
"Fine," Silas said without hesitation.
Henry Prescott slammed the table in anger: "Silas Prescott, must you really take things this far? She’s your Uncle Sterling’s wife. You want her to jump into the water in front of so many people? Are you trying to humiliate her?"
Silas replied indifferently, "She’s just showing how much she loves her daughter."
"You bastard! Just for some outsider, you’re really going to tear our families apart?"
"If this matter satisfies me, our families will continue working together. If not, then forget about it."
Upon hearing this, Stella Sterling was so angry she clutched her dress tightly.
Silas Prescott was using the two families’ partnership as leverage for Chloe Nash’s revenge.
If there’s no partnership, what’s the point of an arranged marriage?
Stella was furious, but in order to marry Silas, she was willing to swallow her pride.
"Brother Silas, I’m willing to accept your punishment, I just hope you won’t jeopardize our families’ cooperation."
After saying this, she walked straight out the door.
Mrs. Sterling anxiously grabbed Jett Sterling’s arm: "Jett, go check on your sister. She can’t swim!"
Jett looked at her coldly: "Chloe Nash couldn’t swim either. Did she die? Stella won’t either."
"She’s your real sister—are you just going to stand by and watch her fall into the water?"
"My mom only gave birth to me. What real sister? You’ve been Mrs. Sterling for a few years and really think your daughter is the legitimate heiress?"
With one sentence, Mrs. Sterling’s face turned pale with shame.
"Jett, everyone’s seen how I’ve treated you all these years. Stella’s always treated you as a real brother. Why won’t you accept us?" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Jett’s smile was chilling: "Don’t forget—you’re my dad’s second wife, not my mother. Who the hell are you to interfere in my relationships?"
"I’m just worried about you, afraid Chloe Nash was after the Sterling Family’s power and deceived your feelings."
"So you admit it—you forced Chloe Nash to break up with me." Jett glared at Mrs. Sterling, his fury barely contained.
All these years, the suspicion buried in his heart was suddenly clear.
So it wasn’t Chloe Nash who stopped loving him—it was his stepmother who made her end it.
That’s why she left the country and disappeared without a trace.
Knowing Chloe Nash now had a husband and son, that they could never go back, Jett’s hatred flooded his heart.
His knuckles cracked from clenching his fists so tightly.
Mrs. Sterling trembled and shook her head over and over: "It was your father who made me do it. I didn’t dare defy him."
"Who the hell is he to meddle in my business!"
Jett’s eyes were bloodshot with rage, his wet hair dripping water on the floor.
With no hesitation, he left Mrs. Sterling and walked out alone.
Just then, a cry for help came from outside the door: "Someone jumped into the water! Hurry, someone help!"
Mrs. Sterling panicked and ran out, crying as she did, "Jett, save your sister! She can’t swim!"
Jett didn’t even look back and drove away.
Chloe Nash finished showering and changed clothes, and standing on the balcony she saw it all.
She watched Mrs. Sterling, wild with panic, begging people to save Stella Sterling.
Mrs. Sterling was frantic, she was devastated, she was helpless.
But how was she to her?
Back then, Chloe had been just three years old—no matter how she cried and begged, Mrs. Sterling left her behind and walked away.
Both were daughters born of her ten months’ pregnancy—why did she treat them so differently?
Chloe watched Mrs. Sterling kneeling before Stella, kissing and hugging her.
She couldn’t help but curl her lips into a cold smile.
Lucy Rhodes opened the door and saw Chloe Nash’s thin silhouette.
That figure, that body shape, was identical to Sienna Paxton in her memory.
No wonder her brother got it wrong; Chloe really did resemble Sienna in some ways.
She walked over and sized up Chloe, unable to stop herself from exclaiming, "Dr. Nash, you look so much like our Sienna. These are her old clothes—they fit you perfectly."
Lucy was a bit taller and sturdier than Chloe.
She’d brought several outfits for Chloe to try on, but they were either too long or too loose.
At last, inspiration struck, and she found a set from Sienna’s room—it fit Chloe perfectly.
Hearing Lucy call her ’our Sienna’ so affectionately, Chloe felt a pang of sadness.
She wanted so badly to hold Lucy close and tell her herself that she was Sienna Paxton.
She wanted so desperately to go back—lying on the sofa together, eating snacks, watching variety shows.
But she couldn’t do anything except bury all those feelings deep within her heart.
Her voice was hoarse: "Thank you, Lucy."
Lucy giggled: "Why thank me? I even feel bad you fell into the water at our house. But my brother got revenge for you. He told the Sterlings that if he wasn’t satisfied with how it was handled, he’d end both families’ partnership. I’ve never seen my brother protect anyone like this—except for Sienna, you’re the second."
Chloe never expected Silas Prescott would go this far.
As they talked, Julian Prescott opened the door and came in.
He carefully walked to Chloe’s side, circled her once, confirmed she was alright, then dared to take her hand.
He pulled out words he’d typed long ago on his phone.
[Auntie, are you feeling better now? Can you come with me to cut the cake?]
The commotion earlier had been so loud; Chloe didn’t want to go downstairs and face everyone’s chatter.
But faced with Julian’s hopeful eyes, she couldn’t bear to say no.
She pinched his chubby cheeks. "Alright, Auntie will go with you to cut the cake."
Given her promise, Julian was so excited he nearly jumped for joy.
He hurriedly grabbed Chloe’s hand and led her out.
Lucy laughed behind them, teasing, "Julian, why don’t you talk to your dad, let him give you to Dr. Nash as her son instead?"
Julian’s eyes widened, looking up at Chloe, his tiny head nodding up and down like a chicken pecking rice.
"Your dad treasures you so much, I wouldn’t dare take you. He’d kill me for it."
Chloe gently stroked Julian’s cheek, but a wave of bitterness swept through her heart.
If only Silas Prescott had treated her a little better, saw her as a real person instead of a plaything—she wouldn’t have run away to be a doctor in a war zone, their child wouldn’t have died there.
Thinking of that, Chloe felt a sharp pain in her chest.
The three of them went downstairs together.
The hall was packed—filled with members of the Prescott Family.
The seven-tier cake tower had already been set up in the center of the hall, waiting for the birthday boy to light the candles.
Hearing movement, Silas Prescott looked toward the stairs.
The staircase was dimly lit; in the hazy light, he thought he saw Sienna Paxton.
She wore a champagne-colored dress, walking toward him.
Some nerve in Silas’s body suddenly tightened.
Even his voice grew lower and hoarser.
"Sienna?"
