Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 172: A hoe for his love
Words spread in the heaven that the God of death was keeping a mortal woman beside him.
Adeline was put under the constant watch of the court members who frowned at the sight of her.
Soon, she started having nightmares. She would wake up in the middle of the night, only to find herself in a pool of blood.
Or corpses reaching their hands towards her.
Sometimes, mournful sobs, sometimes maniacal laughter.
She was becoming desperate day by day.
When she told her maids about it, they thought she had lost her mind and they kept their distance from her.
Soon, rumors spread that Adeline Daven was insane.
Marilyn was pleased. For how long would she persist? Under such circumstances, she would either kill herself or the court members would plot her death. And in the best circumstances, Atlas would be disgusted by her.
Marilyn was relieved because unlike how this woman loved Atlas in her previous life, she did not love him now. Adeline even warned him to stay away from her or else she would kill herself.
And how could Atlas bear that? He never once visited her chamber after that discussion.
Another night of nightmares and fear and this time Adeline did not hold back.
She rushed to Atlas’s room.
On the way, she saw corpses, cliffs, blood, and all the terrible things that she dreaded but she did not stop until she was in front of his room.
She knocked on the door.
And as soon as the door opened, she told him everything that was happening to her.
Marilyn stood at a distance, fingers curled into fists. She knew that Atlas knew about it.
He had heard the rumors and Marilyn has seen him standing in front of Adeline’s room countless times but he did not dare to step inside.
The ruthless God of Death actually feared that his beloved would kill herself.
After telling him about everything, Adeline looked at his face intently, not knowing whether he would trust her or just like others, he would think that she has lost her mind.
’I will look into this. Give me some time,’ Atlas said to her.
And this time, Adeline did not hold back as she threw herself into his arms and cried her heart out.
The past few days of sufferings all came forth at once.
Atlas was stunned but soon, he hugged her back.
’Heart touching, right? But what about me? Why did he never look at me with the adoration he looks at her with?’
Marilyn knew she had to stop there.
She could not scare Adeline anymore because now that Atlas was close to her, it would be easy for him to trace her magic and spells on that woman.
She retreated temporarily, not expecting that it would bring the pair closer to each other.
Adeline started falling for Atlas, his love and his concern melting her stubborn heart.
And it was not long before the pair shared a room.... And a bed, much to Marilyn’s dismay.
’Why did my nights have to be so cold while she was tucked in the warmth of his embrace?’
Marilyn realized that it was no use scaring her anymore.
So, she approached Adeline... as a friend.
Adeline was a bold woman, a stubborn and intelligent person but her biggest flaw was that she had a warm heart. A very warm heart that can be easily trampled on in the coldness of this Dark Castle.
A few actions of kindness and she started to treat Marilyn as a friend.
The closeness between Atlas and Adeline kept increasing but somewhere in her heart, Adeline missed her home and her brothers.
She tried to talk to Atlas about it but the man would grant her any wish except for letting her go back to her world.
She loved him but she felt confined when she thought that he would not let her out of his sight.
For a woman like her, it was already a lot that she kept her pride aside for love and lived with him like some mistress.... when he already had a wife.
Any more than that was unacceptable for her no matter what his identity was, she wanted to be treated with proper respect.
Having no one to share about these things, Adeline ended up discussing them with Marilyn, showing her desire to see her brothers.
Adeline might be unaware but Marilyn knew very well that Atlas was not confining the woman, he was trying to protect her so that she would not end up dying like the previous times.
But of course, she was not going to tell Adeline that.
’That day when I met her, I met him too. The life growing inside her.’
The ears of a witch could hear the heartbeats of a child inside their mother’s womb and hence, Marilyn discovered that Adeline was carrying Atlas’s child.
She endured the heart-wrenching pain and talked to Adeline with a sweet smile, suggesting to the woman that she should go to her world through the portal when Atlas was not around.
While they talked, Marilyn’s fingers kept moving.
Adeline hesitated but in the end, she accepted her friend’s help.
She missed her brothers. Just one glimpse of them and she would come back here.
She thought. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
When Atlas came back to the Castle, he did not find Adeline anywhere.
’It’s time. Go, make her discover about the child growing inside her,’ Marilyn said to Aunt Greta before going to Atlas’s room.
The invincible man that she once knew was kneeling on the floor with his face buried in his palms.
’She talked to me about it and I told her to not do it. But I can’t believe that in the end... she still left,’ Marilyn said, knowing that what Atlas was most insecure about was Adeline’s love for him, thinking that it will fade one day and she will leave.
As expected, she saw the flash of sadness, betrayal, and anger on his face.
’Grandmother taught me that an angry person will always make mistakes and I wanted to be his... mistake.’
I became that.
Atlas gave in to Marilyn after years.
His embrace was not warm like she had expected and his eyes did not hold the adoration for Marilyn that was always there for Adeline and his touch was not gentle at all.
A hoe for his love. That’s what she was.
He was venting on Marilyn.
And she... was still content.
From the corner of her eyes, she saw someone’s shadow near the door.
It was her, Adeline. The second woman witnessed everything.
And this time, Adeline left... without looking back.
Marilyn smirked, a teardrop rolled down the corner of her eyes when he thrust inside her again, roughly.
The next day, Marilyn woke up in a cold bed.
Atlas was not there. Did he go to chase after her?
Marilyn smiled.
Within a few hours, he came back to his room with a letter in his hand.
The letter that said:
’I never loved you at all. I wavered at that moment because you are the only one who believed me but there was nothing more than it. I hate you for keeping me as your prisoner. You say you love me and if you really do love me then don’t come after me. I will always hate you.’
The letter that was forged by Marilyn.
A month later, Marilyn was pregnant and she was ecstatic although, after that night, Atlas never stepped inside her room nor did he take her to his bed.
But she was still ecstatic. The child. The child would love her, unlike his father.
To her child, she would be his entire world and he would only love her. Only her.
But he needed to be loved too... by her... and his father.
To secure his father’s love, wasn’t it necessary to settle that bitch’s son first?
The heartbeats told her that it was a boy.
What if he came back one day?
Even if he was born as a mortal, he needed to die.
Atlas chose that human over her. She did not want him to choose that human’s son over her son.
Months passed in a flash and after a long search, Marilyn finally found Adeline.
Even though Adeline left Atlas, he still placed a protective barrier around her to shield her from danger.
He never went in front of her neither did he watch her from afar as she mentioned in the letter but he still protected her....
Marilyn laughed mockingly, ’Today is going to be their last day.’
And disguised in black, both Marilyn and Greta disappeared into the veil of night.
Through the portal in heaven, they reached the Capital City of Visteria before going to Daven’s Castle.
A witch could sense her prey.
And so did Marilyn.
She found Adeline’s room.
The room was enshrouded in darkness.
Just in case Atlas trailed her after this, Marilyn did not use her powers. Instead, she used a dagger and stabbed both Adeline and her newborn child who was crying beside her.
’Die!’ she stabbed them repeatedly till her face was stained with blood.
